Interesting, thanks Dstock7080 ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) This is why I like the forum, you can find out all sorts of strange and wonderful insights in to how LU works etc.

Cheers Colin - I suspected you might be along to give the answer...
Although, I'm not sure I like the concept of drivers being told to turn the heating off -- was there a reason?

I spotted the following at Earl's Court over the weekend... ![](http://www.colinogilvie.co.uk/images/HOFF.jpg) Anyone know what the H OFF means - I know D is de-icer, but we couldn't work out H and why it was so prominent on the platform.

Chesham Branch? Must be trees there due to leaf-fall situations etc. and it's single track... although I've never been there either ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) i do like the photo-shop work that's been done to the image though!

I guess this means the line to Uxbridge is gradually getting updated for the S stock? According to the letter received at a venue I volunteer at in Ickenham, it's for track drainage works.

Just goes to show, never assume anything when posting on forums - I had assumed since I'd said Picadilly Line it might be assumed I was going towards London given I'd specifically mentioned the engineering work ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I'm looking to travel towards London since that's the only way the Picadilly Line is running from South Harrow on the 20th/21st...

Does anyone know what frequency of service the Picadilly Line will be offering from South Harrow on Saturday and Sunday?

What does it matter if they see the travel chaos at weekends though...
Haven't TFL suspended all work for the duration of the olympics (and a few weeks either side IIRC)?

Is the sidings used for piccadilly line aswell? Apparently... as in the next Working Timetable for the Picadilly line, one service is stabling in the platform rather than the sidings. Never seen one, but then I'm rarely in Uxbridge late at night.

Currently, there are 3 different types of train in use. In 5 years there will be only 1! ![:-[](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png) That strikes me as quite sensible progress... You're reducing training, spare assets and expertise by 1/3rd.

I think knap poses an interesting question though...
If, at the moment, services stop running direct to chesham due to leaves etc. what's going to happen when there's no shuttle service?

Is it worrying that they look smarter than some of the actual tube trains?

The stickers that DStock7080 linked to have been there for a while... I always wondered what they were hiding.

According to Chiltern, this was due to water in an LU Relay Box which affected signals in the Amersham area. twitter.com/#!/chilternrailway

There's a thread in here that tells you how to deal with it... it involves using www.dft.gov.uk/transxchange/publisher.htm which will give you a PDF with the timetable in it... it takes about 10 mins on my PC to generate the Met timetable for example.

On a separate note, and given the test runs are no longer that secretive anymore (in fact we are being encouraged to get people on them). [cynic=on]Probably beacuse they've realised that the 'New Trains in Service' message that was put out a few months ago isn't really accurate unless people can actually use them[/cynic=off] However, this is good to see... although why can't it run to Uxbridge since that's the bit of the network I often use ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

That was what the proposal I saw at some point was basically planning on doing... do the majority of it overnight, in engineering hours.

The two poeple I know (my housemate and I) both don't like the heat on the Tube... and neither of us jet off to foreign climes for holidays.

I thought the plan was to upgrade the signalling on all the SSR lines and they'd already put the deal out to tender. This seems to agree with me, and imply that closures would be kept to a minimum. It should be done by 2016, so long enough away to forget the Jubilee Line upgrade disaster ;-)

Yes.
Even with stopping, the journey from White City to Mile End on the Central Line can be very warm when the carriages are full of people.

For the record, "carry sheets" are carried on board trains to cover the eventuality of removing somebody that is unable to disembark under their own steam. I'm glad to see that this is considered (not that I thought it woundn't be) but I have to say in this day and age of Health and Safety, I'm surprised people would be allowed to carry someone off on a sheet! On a semi-related note (which may be wandering off-topic) to this, presumably more staff will head to trains down the tunnels to help with disembarking passengers? Also, is there anything done in case someone goes in to a panic attack etc. to have medical people / first aiders around?

Apparently the S-Stock is running in passenger service this morning... presumably due to the minor issues with trains on the Met line?
What's the passenger-service clearance for the s-stock now, still wembley - watford or has it been extended?

I was on one of these on Saturday... wasn't even planned, just happened to be getting the Victoria Line from Victoria after coming in to Central London from the Acton Depot to find an 09ts pulling in.
I have to say, I was quite impressed and thought it was quite a comfortable journey.

It can't be far to walk from Chalfont or Amersham to/from Chesham. The group could have a sing song as they go and they wouldn't notice the distance Err... I think I can probably guess what the member of staff would be told if they suggested that... and I can't imagine it would be very pleasant. Chalfont - Chesham: 4.1mi 1hr 21minsAmersham - Chesham: 2mi 38 mins

My housemate and I were on the 12.30 tour on Saturday... and we have to say we both thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was fascinating to see a train from 1938ish still in such good condition (whether it's restored or not, we don't really care) and also the history about the use of the tube stations in the blitz was most intersting.
I do remember being taught about the tube stations being used in History (I was at school in Scotland) but never about the use of the tunnels to store the lights of the Elgin marbles etc.
Well played to the staff, and volunteers of the LTM for such a fabulous day out.
Although I'm sure they added more steps when we were down at platform level as it felt a long way up!
Our only constructive criticism of the event is that after the narators recorded message there should have been a longer pause before the recorded advertising announcement about the other events etc. as it spoiled the moment as people could have heard a pin drop as we were standing there on the platform.
