This is a word one, you don't need to know anything about the actual locations.

Admin CommentEarlier in this thread a Moderator wrote: Can we talk about the timings of the past? Now the event is out of the way I don't see any reason why we can't talk about the timings - the train ran between 60 and 90 minutes late all day due to an issue on departure from Ruislip Depot. However, please no discussion of the incident itself which led to the late departure. Let's focus on the success of the event, which could so easily have been cancelled. Our current rules are quite clear: This forum has become a premier place for the discussion of not only London Underground, but also the other railways operated by Transport for London - the forum also enjoys a respected interest at the very highest level within London Underground and other areas of T fL. Membership of this forum has always been and will continue to be open to all, including any 'Protected Characteristic' or similar. Because of this, Forum Staff undertake the running of the forum on a more formal level than other similar types of media; to that end, rules have been devised to ensure that all forum users know what is expected regarding their behaviour and general use of the forum. Rule 7 (What not to Post)7.3 (Serious Incidents and/or Major Events) Serious incidents or other major events such as derailments, crashes, fires, weather, terrorist, etc (to give a few examples - this list is not exhaustive) can also prove to be a particularly difficult subject, especially in the early stages. These type of events will always lead to speculation and internal investigations. As a result the following applies on this forum: - (7.3a) Forum staff members will confirm the facts when they have them to hand, though it may be some time time before this is possible.
- (7.3b) LU staff that are directly involved in an incident may post a brief outline if they feel it is appropriate - however as with our one under rule above, details of a fatal incident are not allowed in case of any prejudice at a future inquest.
- (7.3c) Discussion will be at the discretion of the forum staff, however in most cases once the facts have been confirmed, a given thread will most likely be locked to prevent non factual speculation.
- (7.3d) Should an official report be released, a request can be made to a member of forum staff to have a link added to the original locked thread. For further discussion after an official report has been released, a new thread should be started.
Given that this type of incident/event will be subject to official lines of enquiry and/or investigation, it is important that we do not allow this forum to become involved with speculation that would detract from the facts. Information may or may not be found within websites elsewhere on the internet - just because it's on another website, it doesn't mean it is factually correct or that we can or will allow it here; again the forum staff cannot 'police' other websites, but we are responsible for what appears on this forum.
If you are in any doubt at all as to whether your post may contravene rules 7, 7.1, 7.2 or 7.3, please seek the advice of a forum staff member first.
Please note the last sentence. As such a post has been removed from the thread. Whilst a 90 minute delay may not feel like a "serious incident", MoreToJack 's statement in 'Moderator green ink' was quite clear; this thread would focus on the success of the event. There has been much ill-informed speculation regarding the cause of the delay on other forums/media, this forum is well respected and has a reputation because we focus on facts rather than engaging in speculation around events. As per rule 7.3b (above) forum staff may be posting a summary of the incident if it is considered appropriate, however I wouldn't suggest anyone hold their breath. On a more personal note I'm sad that I couldn't make it to see the train or to the forum social (I was at Middleton Railway with my steam roller), I'd be glad to see and hear more of what member's thought of what otherwise seems to have been a great weekend of Steam on the District.

...for the first time ever, all 192 S stock trains are in London. In which case, the time has come for this thread to be locked. Thanks for all the various contributions over the last 9 years.

"MOSI" was formerly "The Manchester Museum of Science and Industry", and is now part of the Science Museum Group and is called "The Science and Industry Museum".

I suppose it’s handy in order to recover a bit of late running. But as you allude to, the opportunity to use it in practice with a minimum 24 tph service for most of the day will be limited. However I generally agree that the density of this section will quite likely conspire against this, the train may well get a high target speed but soon be breaking down again. Breaking down because they can't cope with the speed, it braking down to the station stop? Or both? Do'nt you love pedants'

I would hope they lower the windows, or raise the seats. I can't see a seated mini-driver being able to see in front with those high windows. I read on the internet (so it must be true) that the front seats will be on springs and thus height adjustable. In an emergency they will also function as ejector seats to mitigate against collision injuries to those in the front seats.

My idea for the link is that these stations were all once served my mainline trains but they now all pass through without stopping. I was thinking that Plaistow was the odd one out as is isn't a Park (although it is one stop from a Park) but if the odd one out has nothing to do with that then my second guess is Queen's Park as it still sees service by Overground trains. Yeah you've pretty much got it. My card says: National Rail services have been withdrawn from all these stations Odd one out: Queen's Park - only the fast line services have been withdrawn here, all NR services have been withdrawn from the others.

I don't know for certain, but could it be linked somehow to the need to maintain access to Ruislip Depot for engineering trains elsewhere on the network?

Once inside the tunnel, slow the train to 35 then look for the reflection of A655 on the left hand running rail. If it was red then apply the brakes, if it was green then back into full parallel to Earl's Court. (My bold) If a reflection is what was relied upon then it doesn't surprise me this signal was often passed at danger!

Before platform 0 was a thing, during the last rebuild of Leeds station there was a platform W for a period. Eventually all the platforms were renumbered and W became 1.

That other image that you've revealed is definitely not Holloway Road! Although when you click on it the completely different image that opens is what I presume really is of Holloway Road. Fixed

Ok, well then A is in fact the very similar Bow Church which suggests the link might be religious buildings. Therefore, I'll take a guess at Westminster for D. Close enough with that link for me, the card says "These are all locations named for places of worship. ". However D isn't Westminster (which in an area).

That bridge (the Grosvenor Bridge) carries no TfL services. I think it's the Cremorne Bridge (the one between Imperial Wharf and Clapham Junction) As for the inset, the colours suggest Midland Railway, so if it's not the Monsal trail, is it on the Bath-Bristol cycle path? Looks like Hadlow Road to me, which is a preserved disused station on the Wirral Way footpath between Hooton and West Kirby. Inset 1: Hadlow Road disused station, Wirral [ londonstuff] (click for a larger version) The line is a very pleasant walk these days, it was formerly a joint operation between the L&NWR and GWR.

AIUI all units still have a lamp iron so that in an emergency situation a tail lamp can be hung on them if the power/batteries fail. Mostly used when a dead train is being rescued.
Modern lamps are battery powered LED jobbies though.

Are you sure the pie charts will update live? I've just submitted a set of names and they're not showing on the pie chart yet. I think we have reached the limit at which the feed updates the pie charts without me manually adding the range for new options since every new option is likely to have been typed differently. If that is indeed the case, I will update the whole lot on Sunday when the survey closes. Still, I'm sure certain esteemed members will be flattered to learn that they have made the list...(My bold) I'm sure I don't know what you mean....
