For the avoidance of doubt and to assist those who don't keep up with European country names:
In February 2019 The Republic of Macedonia (often referred to as the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) changed their name to North Macedonia after a dispute with Greece and to avoid confusion with the Greek region of Macedonia.
This is beside the point though as the location we are looking for is in Montenegro.

If the depot staff put it there to indicate it had been tested, who removed it? Presumably the next driver to work the train from that cab? As a theory, that's fine; however numerous images appear to show them in service across the network. As any self respecting D stock driver knows, the shoe paddle in the cab was always wedged on top of the console desk and used as a table for placing one's tea or coffee cup on. Ah, so paddle in the window actually means a caffeine-free train operator!

It's an impression, not an actual photo of a unit.
One of the many occasions where reality doesn't match the render.

The low bridge which meant that proper "tube trains" were used, this will have to have the track lowered if the revamped 'D' stock is to be used. Wonder if the powers that be have thought of this? Ho hum In a word: yes.

My return journey had to be to Ilford (instead of Gants Hill) to collect a prescription from a chemist (the doctor sends it through electronically but it is collected by me). You could avoid this by changing which pharmacy you use, the NHS Electronic Prescription Service allows you to collect your medicines from any pharmacy in England.

Crossrail work at Whitechapel, unconnected to 4LM. But 4LM will be taking advantage of the closure to do some work, surely?

By naming the line like a London Underground line it's bound to cause confusion if it is not. Except it's not named like an underground line. The Victoria Line is simply "Victoria", however Crossrail is to be the "Elizabeth Line". Thus Crossrail should actually be the "'Elizabeth Line' Line".

These are station shops selling 'grab & go' goods to commuters (and umbrellas when it unexpectedly rains) as well as a full range of National Rail tickets. Is there a reason they refuse to serve goods to umbrellas when rain was forecast? Chris, you're ability to take pedantry to Another Level always astounds me.

Incidentally District line drivers doing Paddington to Edgware Road will coninue to have Instructor Operator support for some time as they won't be doing their sign off trips till SMA3 goes live (Stepney to Monument). Good to see the Green/Maroon rivalry is still going strong!

Hello and welcome! The Picc has been getting more unreliable for a good few years. I think there’s several threads: one about flat wheels in leaf fall season: districtdavesforum.co.uk/thread/30153/vAnd another more general discussion about worsening reliability: districtdavesforum.co.uk/thread/28923/new-misery-lineYou’ve probably got several factors: the trains themselves being some of the oldest left, the reduced maintenance with Night Tube and I’m pretty sure there are some ongoing difficulties with training and CPD. I’m not sure there will be a quick fix... HI there is no reduced maintenance on the piccadilly line 73 tube stock I suspect londonstuff means that with trains running on Night Tube there are fewer hours available for the hardworking engineering staff to get their works done. Whilst I'm sure all staff (both on track and on trains/in depots) are professional and ensure maintenance standards are maintained, having to do the same work in less time inevitably means that those tasks that can legitimately be put off, are.

I see some former ticket offices are now tiled over as though there was nothing there at all. Why didn't LUL bring in a little extra cash by renting out the former and subsequently unused ticket office for a small retail outlet. All ticket offices, in addition to the part passengers could see, also included a mess room and a small office for the Chief Clerk so there would be plenty of space for transforming into a small outlet. LUL could even have gone into the retail business themselves keeping the unused space to sell bottled drinks in warm weather and hot drinks in cold weather and perhaps include a National Lottery terminal as well. I guess the simple reason is that the space for ticket counter was small and the rest of the office is still used for associated purposes. Of course, one option would be to introduce a similar concept to that seen on MerseyrRail with their "M to go" shops. These are station shops selling 'grab & go' goods to commuters (and umbrellas when it unexpectedly rains) as well as a full range of National Rail tickets. "Can I have a tea, a sausage roll and a day return to Kirkby please?"- Me, most mornings

I was watching this tweet by Charlie - the display is counter-intuitive because maps and diagrams normally show west as being to the left. Since when has anything about the UndergrounD been "normal"? Every Block Post I have worked in has had the diagram aligned to match the position of the Blockman, left on the diagram is to your left. I believe the convention in Network Rail [IECCs and ROCs] is that "Up" is to the left, geography is nothing to do with it. PS. I think you spelt Charley wrong. Edit to clarify: In a traditional box on NR left is left and right is right, with the position of the Signaller and their frame being marked on the diagram. In an IECC and the like up is left, such that if you are in the NRM at York watching the signalling feeds from York IECC a train on the diagram will move from left to right whilst the one you see in front of you moves right to left. My key point stands, Edgware Road is normal. Ish.

The use of locos (as intended by the CLR and actually done 1900-03) would have made these sidings very difficult. Is there any evidence of the CLR using a loco at each end? Would the electric supply have even stood such a load? Would a solution to the supply problem be for a loco to haul the stock into the siding then another to run onto the stock and haul it out. That way only one is drawing current at a time.

Off topic: one year we should start at Penderels Oak and then do a circle line tour: twenty minutes at an establishment somewhere near each station. Well that's this year's Christmas Social sorted!

Are these places (near) where the Underground goes over the Overground? In which case the last example will be Whitechapel station/ You've correctly established that the link is something to do with Underground/Overground, so the next in the set is obviously "Wombling Free".

At West Hampstead (Jubilee) a man pushed through the barriers after a not completely successful attempt to tailgate. He too was not injured (but he did attempt to board a train that was being tipped out).
