Always wanted to put a survey out for this. London Overground have adopted some very long winded names for routes that have historically had much more practical names. Just one request from me, if your answer includes the word 'Line', please make sure you use a capital 'L', as this will help collate results. To fill in the survey click * here* The survey is planned to close at around 7PM on Sunday 2nd of June

We seem to require a Gmail account to proceed - what about those of us who don't have one ?
Nonetheless a noble idea - the current long names are ludicrous.

I like short names which are not ambiguous and have some relevance to the line's geography or history so, in no particular order:
North East Lines (old Northern & Eastern Railway) North West Line (old LNWR) or its nickname the Premier Line Brunel Line (from the tunnel) Barnsbury Line (I thought of the Cremorne Line, but only the Clapham Junction branch, and not the Richmond branch, uses the bridge. Emerson Line Crouch Hill Line
Premier or Regency were also suggested at one time for the H&C, because it is 1. The oldest and 2. serves the Regency-era areas of Regents Park and Nash Terrace

Right, so a summary of the most popular options so far.
Richmond / Clapham Junction to Stratford : North London Line
Euston to Watford Junction : Watford Line (Watford DC came 2nd)
Gospel Oak to Barking : GOBLIN (GOBLIN Line came 2nd)
Highbury & Islington to New Cross / New Cross Gate / Crystal Palace / West Croydon / Clapham Junction : East London Line (Brunel Line came 2nd)
Liverpool Street to Cheshunt/Chingford/Enfield Town : Lea Valley Line (West Anglia Line came 2nd)
Romford to Upminster : Emerson Line (Rominster Line and Upford shuttle came 2nd)
Thanks to all who took the time to fill this out. It may have been just for a bit of fun, but the results in themselves are very informative. Survey will close for responses on Sun.

54 in total. More than happy with that, certainly some of the 2nd place names were ones that I hadn't even thought of so it was definitely worth it.

Upford shuttle has a certain ring to it. Certainly does, the ring of an extremely unpleasant and painful medical procedure. I’m not in favour......😖

Romster? ...not much better... Romster - sounds like the first bit of a particularly edible potato-based snack. It’s definitely got a ring to it. 😂

Also, I'd argue with the use of the word 'edible' with relation to this product. By the look of the packet it certainly doesn't do your teeth much good.

Who was it who suggested the Liverpool Street to Cheshunt/Chingford/Enfield Town route should be called "Forking Orange"!?

Who was it who suggested the Liverpool Street to Cheshunt/Chingford/Enfield Town route should be called "Forking Orange"!? There are some great names there. My other highlights were 'Tony' and 'Emerson Air Line'. ('Primorse' was supposed to be 'Primrose', by the way.)

Who was it who suggested the Liverpool Street to Cheshunt/Chingford/Enfield Town route should be called "Forking Orange"!? How about Tangerine & Tentacle for the Highbury/Crystal Palace/Croydon/Clapham route?
Also some wag decided to call the Stratford/Richmond/Clapham route the South London Line!
