If this is not in the right area, I am sure it will get moved to the right spot...
Whilst being held at Bedford on the way home on Thursday (due to a one under that I saw at Kettering) I was musing about the tube lines and I thought that the Waterloo and City line must be the only tube line that doesn't permit (by design and not officially) the use of wheelchairs as I wanted to go on it but was with a wheelchair user and so was prevented from doing so.
Does anybody know if there are plans afoot to correct this issue?

So really, the question was 'Why is Marylebone the odd-one-out', rather than 'one of these four that if it was in a Venn diagram would be in a little loop of its own; decide which one it is'. Next time I'll just stick to copying and pasting the prescribed prose. My dear rincew1nd... I believe you have stolen my line!

I have just one question to ask here - what the heck is a PED? I can't figure it out for the life of me!

At my local station is a poster saying the S stock will replace the old trains by the end of 2016 ( this poster is at stations East of Barking) In the mean time the D stock is being left to rot as regards the passengers can see in the tatty seating, dirt inside and out. I was in London only Thursday and all the D Stock was bright, shiny and clean

As an aside, when waiting for the D stock to turn up for the two evening runs an S Stock last night was sat in the Olympia platforms at HSK. Thinking that this might well be off to Ealing Broadway, which was what it said on the front ends and the sideboards, we ignored it. Then, without any warning they both changed to Olympia and closed doors and headed off - noticing the rearmost end said Train 753. I would have made it if not for the fact I was with my wheelchair using mother who, upon being informed said S Stock was both the train we could have got and was the train that normally did not run, promptly dismissed it as "not good looking" and the somewhat "elderly" D Stock as "smashing" and said it looked a proper Underground train.

Inter unit coupling is always tricky. The first attempt to couple an A60 to an S8 did not end well. I note that the 1973 double cab units have shrouds over the unused wedge locks to protect them from the elements! Out of curiosity, what was the reason to couple an S8 to the A60?

Fair point, Chris...
There were ordinary passengers (or is it Passengers-To-Be?) on the platforms. Personally I was a little glad we did not stop because with my mother in her wheelchair it would have been murder to make space

tut, I was in London yesterday (typing this within minutes of getting back home) with my mother and we also heard the information given as signal failure, although they said MULTIPLE signal failures.
Chris M, we passed through Moorgate around 14:37 ish and there was people on the platforms but we didn't stop. Would it not it be better to close access to the platforms and put those already on the trains?

Most metals oxidise to a greater or lesser degree, the best known of course is iron which breaks down to iron oxide (rust). Aluminium also oxidises but only the surface which is open to the atmosphere, aluminium oxide is a dirty white colour and this gives the impression of white paint. The green patina you sometimes see on bronze statues is also oxidisation, even alloys are not impervious. A lot also depends on the quality and type of the metal/alloy used this is why the doors on some tube stock appear to be whiter than the rest of the car. Are you a science teacher by any chance? As it happens, I was about to say much the same thing as you. How would LU have gone about making them silver again?

Can any part of the station still be seen when passing on the Central line? I think some remains of Platform 3 can be seen when leaving White City eastbound

rincew1nd, that story about the old lady brought a tear to my eye... I am sure it brought back a lot of memories. Did she happened to still have a "London" accent or had she picked up a Welsh one over the years?
I guess I was close enough for that Castle to get the points. It looks a nice place to visit, so I shall put that on my bucket list of places to go

I'd rather see the Dangleway removed from the "Tube Map" than the Trams added. I've never heard it called that before, rincew1nd! Is lack of space the only reason why it does not appear on the maps?

Thanks, Chris, I did look at these and this is what confused me - what with all the gap distances and such...
I suppose going to default and asking for help from the station staff can't harm things!

I've looked at the TFL website for accessibility station by station but I am a little confused by it, so I hope a few of you can help with these questions.
On Thursday I will be taking my mother on a day out around London with her in a wheelchair and I want to know which parts of the platforms to take her to be almost certain of a "parking spot" for her wheelchair (a manual one):- Kings Cross St Pancras for the Circle Line, Tower Hill, High Street Kensington, Temple, Westminster, Charing Cross, Bank and Waterloo.
My next question is which stations in Zone 1 DON'T have lifts for wheelchairs users at the moment? I know Embankment doesn't, but which are the others?
I did send an email to tfl about this but they have not replied as I post this, so I'm turning to here to help

I was under the impression the platforms had all been demolished, but I suppose there is always a use for it on the diagram.
Incidentally, later on in the same episode they showed a number of trains with "000" - what does that mean?

Ah, so its the disused one then? I was thinking to myself that i couldn't remember Aldgate East being shut around the time they filmed.
Is that common then to show a station that has a replacement?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I am sure it will get moved if not... I was watching one of the old episodes of The Tube on youtube and Series 3 Ep 1 had a shot of Liverpool Street, Aldgate and Aldgate East on the signalling / track display with Aldgate East hatched out and saying Aldgate East (Disused). My question is why would it be showing as such? flic.kr/p/oNf9JB - the picture in case the image doesn't show

What do you mean by that?
Do you mean you can not get on to the platforms themselves or the platforms can not be reached by train?

Wanted to go there for a while now - just very difficult to do in one day
I remember reading an article in one of the Railway magazines a few years ago where they mentioned this old lady brought them something marked LNER and thought they might want it. She didn't know what it was and had been using it as a doorstop. The object in question was, in fact, a detonator
