Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I am sure it will get moved if not... I was watching one of the old episodes of The Tube on youtube and Series 3 Ep 1 had a shot of Liverpool Street, Aldgate and Aldgate East on the signalling / track display with Aldgate East hatched out and saying Aldgate East (Disused). My question is why would it be showing as such? flic.kr/p/oNf9JB - the picture in case the image doesn't show

Ah because there was a station there, which is now disused, before the station moved to its present location. From the main site: It can also be seen on the carto metro map, although on that map the platforms appear as if they're in a different place to where trackernet seems to have them.

Ah, so its the disused one then? I was thinking to myself that i couldn't remember Aldgate East being shut around the time they filmed.
Is that common then to show a station that has a replacement?

The chances are its shown in the case it needs to be used for what ever reason. Instead of seeing a train randomly stopped on the track, you can see it stopped at the disused platform.

I was under the impression the platforms had all been demolished, but I suppose there is always a use for it on the diagram.
Incidentally, later on in the same episode they showed a number of trains with "000" - what does that mean?

As I understand it, the problem with standing trains fouling points applied, not to trains standing in Aldgate East station, but to trains held at signals at the exits from the triangle; the solution being to move Aldgate East station eastwards, and move the junction eastwards into the site of the old station, thus lengthening the sides of the triangle. I believe there is an overlap between the old and new stations, and the western entrance to the current station was the eastern entrance to the old one.

Are the hooks still visible where the track was suspended whilst the track bed was lowered?

When it shows 000 tracknet has had no info from the Baker St computer in regards to the Aldgate area.
Last time i was there the hooks are still in the ceiling.

Would this also apply at Waterloo, Angel, Kings Cross St Pancras, Edgware road, DistrictSOM?

When it shows 000 it has no info from the signalling system or it could be a 1 off Special train in which the signaller has not inputted a Train Description so they know what it is
