Whilst this application has been rejected, it seems highly likely amended plans will be swiftly appear with slightly fewer parking spaces being lost which sure enough Shapps can then approve. This appears to be yet another example of a very typical developers tactic. Always prepare two plans. You first post up plans for some outrageous mega development which you know will never be accepted and indeed you never intend to build. In the meantime you already have the real plans drawn up and ready to issue as soon as your initial application is rejected. In a few months time look out for the usual soundbites .. "we have listened carefully to local concerns ... our revised plan is far smaller ... safeguards more car parking spaces... better for the environment... ". (oh and our pockets) Guess what, people forget that all those displaced commuters - do not dissapear they will quickly clog up local roads with parked cars instead, until that triggers yet another outbreak of yellow lines and controlled parking zones. Removing a heavily used car park does not solve parking issues it displaces it. Perversely over in Europe pretty much the exact opposite is happening - with park and ride facilities being discretely created and expanded at many outlying railway stations and feeder bus routes around Geneva which has resulted in a huge leap in ridership, less congested roads, and indeed less pollution in the city. This is already the second application with more parking places

Will the train crew accommodation be saved? I believe it was to be demolished as well. Yes going to be demolished and rebuilt in the ground floor of one of the block of flats well that was the plan

I hope TFL can find the funds to carry out an in-depth trawl through historical Oyster data (suitably anonymised) which should provide a far better picture of where there is real demand and where it has been lost. They do use oyster data for exactly that airport is 38 percent lower and city is 48 percent and shopping at 59 percent obviously there is a lot more than those they look at

Tube travel was up to 59% busses 74% rail 60% and tfl rail 84% of pre covid levels last week getting slightly bussier but a long way to go

It's got nothing to do with the size of the windows . The windows Have to be moved in cars with cabs as the cab is going to be further back now . The instructor operator didn't have enough space as all the computer bits were in cabinet in front of them . The changes got approved over 6 months ago so the mock up should be the new design

don't think they have used 200 series as running numbers although there is a car number matching that .. numbers that have been around for a while is 220 - 256 Northfields Depot starters. 300 - 335 Cockfosters Depot starters. 340 - 344 Arnos Grove Sidings starters. 350 - 357 Arnos Grove - Northfields. 360 - 367 Uxbridge and south Harrow stabler's/Starters

Today's TfL press release says "Night Tube services were re-introduced on the Central and Victoria lines on the evening of Saturday 27 November. Despite strike action in the run-up to Christmas, TfL was able to run a regular and reliable Night Tube service on the Victoria and Central lines, with a full Victoria line service running throughout the majority of the overnight action." Also "The other Night Tube lines - the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines - will return to service as soon as practicable. TfL is working hard to resolve resourcing issues on these lines and there are other considerations such as the upcoming closure of the Bank branch of the Northern line to allow completion of the upgrade at Bank Tube station" Latest plans are night tube on pic and jubilee is 15th of may and northern June/July

Strikes on those lines are on the 26th to 27th of November as well . Not heard anything about other lines starting up yet and they haven't had any meetings with unioin about it

No more service cut-backs! Commissioner’s foreword to TfL Spending Review submission 2021 says that they "have made changes to off-peak services on the Bakerloo, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines. Beyond this, now is not the time for material reductions in service." see p.17/32. Did the Picc off-peak service really see any cut-back? Didn't have any cuts in wtt59 that came in begining of September although it was a amended one for South Harrow sidings closer . There are cuts in the autumn timetable that started on Sunday but the same cuts that it's been having for the last few years

So, answer me this question: Which system would you think would perform better for (a) Time and (b) Safety? 1) A system where there is someone on the platform who has to monitor 12+ sets of doors, some of which are a long way away and may have many people in his or her line of sight, determine where there is a potential problem, and then get into position to see when it has cleared, then possibly go on to another. 2) A system where someone is sitting in front of a high resolution monitor displaying any doors where there might be a problem, from a few feet away, possibly with multiple camera angles. 3) A system where someone is sitting in front of a high resolution monitor displaying 12+ doors where, for the most part there won't be a problem, from a few feet away. (Although there would not be room for multiple camera angles because of the number of doors they need to display). Remember if LU are going to move to fully automatic operation (or pretend to, to keep meddling politicians quiet), they must either have someone on every physical platform, or have some means of remote monitoring, before they even start testing with passengers. Isn't full automation trains closing doors by themselves and self dispatching all those ideas just move the drivers job to someone else and employ loads more staff

Osterly was finished before ickenham but not been commissioned yet does anyone know what the delay is ? Osterley to be commissioned within next two weeks, to be closely followed by Wimbledon Park Osterly still not commissioned even though it looks like it's been finished for months

Please don’t tell me that running times are being increased further - the line is already ridiculously slow. timings have stayed the same but only for 3 weeks then autumn (leaf fall ) timetable comes in on October the 4th and that does increase running times

You still need green light at stations with last train connections ie Finsbury park East bound for last vic line . The last Uxbridge is held in sidings till last Heathrow departs and goes into same platform on the odd occasion when it's let out before it they have took it back into the sidings causing a bit of a delay

I agree but that's what they want also when running both stock when they first come in there will be 2 diffent stopping marks could get confusing especially if you do new stock first half and 73 stock 2nd half I think it will be quite clear which stock you are driving! It will be clear what stock but maybe what stopping mark you use might not be especially if you get distracted by something happening on the platform

The new stock on pic line will have front and rear cab in tunnels on most of the stations So if the driver needs to leave the cab they'll have to use the J Door and reach the platform via the saloon, as with the 1967ts and 1972ts. That'll be fun at 8:30 on a Monday morning... How will the train be dispatched if CCTV fails? The driver won't be able to look out of the cab door to check the platform on Category Bs and they won't be able to see the stations staff giving a hand signal on Category As. Not too clever... These estimates tie in with the figures in the December 2020 Underground News. The new Central line trains may be a little longer than the current trains, up to 134.4m. 1992ts 133m, that should still fit on the platforms, there are a few where the rear cab is in the tunnel when the train is fully berthed (I've spent quite a bit of time in the rear cab over the last 18 months) The new stock on pic line will have front and rear cab in tunnels on most of the stations

Ickenham today became 84th station with step-free access, when the lifts were commissioned this morning. Osterly was finished before ickenham but not been commissioned yet does anyone know what the delay is ?

If you're looking for it it's Northfield Avenue (no S) Redwood Grove correctly describes the actual road, which actually goes through to the Boston Manor Road but that entrance /exit has been blocked for many years. The two cars are not loaded, they are resting on the ground, to be taken away at a similar time to the AiT described in this thread. It's not blocked anymore they used it during some works last year and also will be using it when they take away the asset train and old 73 stock in a few weeks

If the result supports a strike I predict management launching a legal challenge as the ballot includes drivers on the five lines that currently don't have Night Tube and won't immediately be effected. All lines won't be effected till night tube comes back that's probably still a year awaay. At the moment night tube drivers are still doing the Friday and Saturday nights although they have cut a good few of the duties down by planned cancellations they won't be on normal rots till new timetables come in around September. and with some new jobs and some night tube going part time weekend day shifts there might not even be any extra weekends on the rotas or even less

That's not what the internal email said, rather RMT wanted more discussion. Expanding the strike makes no sense, If they can't get Hainault to go on strike why would they imagine they could get other lines to do so? RMT letter says they are already in process of preparing a ballot for all train operators and focus our efforts on gettinget a clear Mandaette from membership but doesn't actually say just for him . Also they got a meeting with Andy lord to discuss him this week

I hope the extra money for rejigged night tube service is enough to tempt some of our drivers into doing them. We used to have nights, but they never ran trains after 1 am or before 4.30 am. I certainly am not looking forward to this. 3 and a half hours extra . Most lines have trains running til 1.30 at moment and ones without night tube have weekends nights that's come out from 4.30 and stable till 2am so only difference is you will be in passenger service during those times

There's a lot of praise for ASLEF over this night tube amalgamation with full timers business.... Many of us ASLEF members are unimpressed with the situation as the whole thing has been instigated by ASLEF and, following a number of meetings, an agreement has made by ASLEF with LU. When did they consult with their members before deciding to go to LU and set all this up?! It's no surprise that RMT haven't managed to get involved - ASLEF have taken it upon themselves to cook this whole thing up with LU without seeking any sort of mandate to do so! Management have been in talks since January with unions what to do with night tube . This proposal was from Alslef and the RMT were involved and on board with the idea till last 2 meetings when they decided they changed there minds and not attend the only other option was to keep night tube and only about 15 go full time the other 100 odd would have to stay on night tube for over a year as the back log in training would be for full time only and need to keep night tube drivers for when night tube comes back . The secondments night tube were doing was meant to be tempory and meant 3 normal shifts and 2 weekend night turns and if they was off work for any reason they would revert back to night tube conditions meaning 2 day's pay also there pensions were still at night tube rate. ASLEF had a meeting with all the IR reps and it was unanimously agreed to do the deal the reason night tube having a premium payment if you do want to do them it should be easy enough to get rid of them also and they would only be on rota every 12 weeks with a lot of depots even less .if your depot hasn't got night tube nothing to worry about for a while we have been fully informed on our local Watts app group

Night tube will not return until next year. ASLEF are negotiating that existing nite tubers will be offered full time contracts if they want it. The night tube (When it returns) will be incorporated into the full time roster. I dont know where this leaves people who have successfully passed the interview and assessments for TO23. They will be offered full time roles All night tube drivers will be full train operators or day weekends drivers on 16th of may unless they want to stay as thetly are

So is it 12 single sidings then? Yes. That's not what the unioin reps are saying still be interesting to see what it looks like in the end as doesn't look wide enough for 12 sidings and seems a waste of natural habitat with the ammount of trees they cut down on the east end of the sidings

Just to add to your examples there, there is also the small tunnel at the very end of the Down Street siding, which links through to the Hyde Park Corner crossover. That's not to mention Down Street station itself, though the main beneficiaries of its signage and designated escape route are more likely to be the contractors working down there on the IMR as opposed a T/Op using the siding or indeed having to evacuate a train (I don't think there have been any recorded evacuations down there). I suspect in the case of Somerleyton Road on the Victoria line, the T/Ops are more likely to leave the train by performing a track walk back to Brixton once the traction current is switched off. Certainly this is what happens on the Bakerloo line at E&C. Hyde Park Corner is listed as a means of accessing Down Street siding (though one wonders if this ever happens in practice - surely easier to be taken by train and dropped off at the points?). For Brixton the official means of entry is walking from the platforms, there’s no mention anywhere of anything else. It does happen in practice have done that walk myself a few years ago it only normally happens if there is a defective train is in there as current has to get turned off before walking in there

They have started work on lengthing all the sidings to accommodate 2 trains each so not sure how they got over the weak tunnel problem Two trains will be short of the Chilterns tunnel. The problem was with earlier plans for three trains in each siding. So 12 trains in total, rather than 18. Will be 12 single sidings, arranged as now but with extra away from railway. it's 6 sidings each with 2 trains as they have cut down the woods to the east of the sidings..Sidings closed from July to Christmas while work is being done
