You could also run a class 25. London Transport tried some out about 1982. If they had decided to purchase them I wonder what livery they would have carried? We have a couple of Class 25's and a Class 24 which make the occasional appearance on the layout usually on the oil tank trains! XF

Perhaps with LT roundels on the side on a white square as some of the battery locomotives had? ;D

Xerces Fobe retains Croxley WRD franchise and invests in new stock!A Q38 2 Car Pilot set, a Merseyside Battery/Electric Class 501 and Sarah Siddons The units still need transfers to be added and all require DCC chipping - hopefully today There are many more items in production many are oddball EMU's and the Oerlikon also needs to be finished. I also have an interest in rapid transit systems in the USA and have just purchased a Walthers Proto 1000 4 car R17 NYC Redbird subway set! I will be fitting it with a DCC chip and adding the pantograph bars on the end of the cars which are on their of their way from the USA. A big thank to Walthers a great company company who helped me find this unit and then helped with the spare pantograph bars - excellent customer service. The unit will appear on the layout at Shows occasionally as a special as i am sure it will get a few people trying to thing which Underground line it ran on and I have posted some photos of the unit on my Facebook site. i am current on an iPad so I could not easily post photos here. ! am pleased to confirm that Croxley Wiggenhall Road Depot will be at the Acton Depot Weekend on 15/16th March 2014. The emphasis of the event this year is "Year of the Bus" and we will have a selection of LT buses on the layout that would have been seen in the Croxley Green area over the years! We look forward to meeting many old friends again in March.

You probably get asked this a lot but are your class 501s made from a dedicated kit or are they modified from another?

You probably get asked this a lot but are your class 501s made from a dedicated kit or are they modified from another? Happy to answer this question S many times as it is asked. I have 6 Class 501' s, 5 are made from Bachmann BR standard mk1 suburban coaches with Replica MLV cabs underframes parts and various other bits from other suppliers for jumpers etc. The other Class 501 was made from a DC Kit mounted on Bachmann 57 underframes. Window bars were made from a bespoke etch I had made. There a couple of other Departmental former Class 501's - The Beastie which is a hybrid Replica/Bachmann build which initially went wrong! There is the 2 car Mersey Rail Battery Electiric 2 car which is a heavily modified DC Kit mounted on with a Replica powered chassis truly a beast which will haul 12 coaches without any issues. If you would like more detailed info please fell free to PM me. Regards, Nigel www.facebook.com/CroxleyWRD

Work continues on the extension to the layout with our own Bushey Arches being added! XF Very imposing Nigel! Will you be doing a Flanagan and Allen act beneath them? On a less ridiculous note, may I enquire at which end it connects to the main layout?

Neither end! The viaduct forms a scenic break on the extension to layout however large dose of "modellers licence" has been used as there is Croxley Triangle, however the viaduct passes over both the Watford and Bushey sides of the triangle unlike the prototype! The viaduct has track and may well be used as part of a micro layout or the main layout may even become T shaped with 3 fiddle yards! Below is a photo that helps give some context to the above
