Here is a photo of the Little Bus Company C69 Stock - somewhat chunky sides and a rather strange profile. XF

The Cravens 1960ts in 4mm.
The C69s were warped I'm told too.

We are in the stages of finalising the design of an extension to the layout. Key elements of the areas are again being included however not all quite in the correct geographical location. A 13.5 inch pylon is planned to feature on the layout too! We should have this finished for next year- I will post photos as we progress! XF

Picked up a copy of the June 2012 Underground News yesterday from the LT Museum Shop and was pleased to see 3 colour photos of of the layout at the LT Acton Depot Family day in March.

Thank you for your kind comments - Work on the extension officially stated last week, with the wood and for the baseboards and frames cut. I have most of the track, all the bits for the Brewery and a couple of buildings also obtained. Thanks good stuff. I'm just about to re-start Harrow-on-the-Hill again and wish to compare notes on baseboard design. Of course others are welcome to join in! How are you building your baseboards?
I am (changing from 12mm MDF to) using 6mm ply on a softword (125x25) frame with intermediate 75x50 support. The legs will be 4no 75x50 studs with a 75x50 cross brace.

Change of design on my part too - the first 2 boards were given to me ready built I just added legs! Starting with 2 X 4'X 2; 6mm ply with 2"X1" planed under frame with central brace. Legs still to be decided however most likely 2"X12 H cross brace that slots into sockets at the base of the boards Surface of boards covered with cork tiles from Trago Mills Cornwall Boards will be stackable for transit this time too - I will take some photos as we progress and post them here XF

Thanks. Do you think one sheet of 6mm ply is too thin on a 4x2 frame then? Perhaps 9mm ply is better?

Not with centre bracing - I was looking at baseboards when I was in Cornwall recently and sort others advise too and boards constructed this way look OK - You could always pop over to Maidenhead and have a look if you would like XF

Great I'll stick a 3x2 stud in the centre and opt for the 6mm ply. It is cheaper and lighter. Thanks. Hope to see your layout soon.
Won't be driving till my back gets better.

Hot off the press we have accepted an invitation to the LTM Open Weekend 13/14 April 2013 where we will debut the extension to the layout. Given that it is the 150th anniversary of the first train journey on London Underground I am planing to do something special on the layout The Class 501's may well have to take a back seat for part of the Show! The baseboards for the extension are built we just need to fit the legs in now. Just a reminder that on 18/19 August we will be at the Three Spires Railex in Cornwall with the layout so if and of you are in then are please come and see us. www.threespiresrailex.org.uk/XF

Got any photos of the baseboard construction sir? They will be taken early next week - they are currently at Graham's house- we spent most of Tuesday on them - We need to fit the leg sockets in as well.. XF PS Visiting trains welcome at the Acton Show - we can isolate them if they are DC and even run them on DC potentially

Here is my latest cameo for the layout Please note - I do not condone this sort of behavior on real stock however unfortunately it is a fact of life! Xerces Fobe Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel sure 1959/1962 stock never reached the depot.

Wow! I really admire how you guys make these realistic models. Thank you; in the above photo only Sarah Siddons is a kit the others are RTR. Sarah Siddons is a Radley Models kit which is a little fiddly to build but gives pleasing results - I have a number of other units under various stages of construction as well! I will post more photos as & when! XF

You could also run a class 25. London Transport tried some out about 1982. If they had decided to purchase them I wonder what livery they would have carried?
