The AI generally sets it's own route depending on how you ordered it. It will lock the junction from changing back until the train has passed. Depending on how complex and how many signals you have the AI will somtime come to a junction and signal set it but not set the rest of the route up and you usually have to set it up yourself. Sometimes you get a conflict between 2 AI trains who won't let go of thier points and you have to take it out of manual to fix it. Like here: I've just told the train to go to Glen Huntly Centre platform From Caulfield PL2. What the train has done is changed points 648 and locked them to stop anyone from changing them. I can tell the train to go via a trackmark but because I have a number of points there it will only set the first set. I will then sit there and do nothing and will tell you it's waiting for track clearence. I have to change 642U and D: img215.imageshack.us/img215/116/screen075.jpgBefore CFD748 clears and the train departs: img151.imageshack.us/img151/793/screen071.jpg

Our modern trams(C1,2,D1,2 classes) have both the gong and a horn. The gong is as you expect used more often than the horn. The older ones(B1,2,A1,2 and I think Z1,2,3) Have the gong and external PA.

Why not have a simple tone before the driver makes the announcement? In my observations on our system it does make people take their headphones out to hear what the driver has to say. Even the automatic "Take your rubbish with you" "During Improvement works" with the tone before hand do work. I'm a regular and know where announcements trigger and the tone still makes me pay attention.

Easy. Turn right at St Mary's Junction! Nah the spoilsports have blocked that off, I'd go for doing a left just before Wimbledon, but you'd need to take a good run up at it, as you would be coasting beyond the points. Na use an extension cord! ;D

It looks like someone has gone to the shopping Centre and nicked a trolley and put around the signal! Even at that close a distance it's hard to see the bottom lights. Surely you can not have the mesh and just have the rails?

I'd have thought that finishing an event at 11pm is cutting it fine on a normal day anyway. 16,000 people is approx 16/17 tube trains at maximum cram loading, isn't it? If they had to catch a bus instead, that's 160... as for not wanting to lug £300 around - I've heard of far more being carried, and a safe could always be fitted. Doing the rough math It's just over 12.7 trains.

I will admit having A/C in the underground stations might not be as good an Idea as you think.
The 3 underground stations we have(4 if you count Box hill) All have A/C. Granted the station is cooler than outside but by not that much. Unless your actually standing under the vent it really has no effect. You still feel rather hot.
Of course any effect of the A/C gets cancelled out when a train comes into the station and pushes all the hot air from vent shafts and A/C pods with it!

It would have to I would think. I mean our Siemens and X'traps do it. The Normal Doors closing beeps are used at normal speed too. Mind you we've had the trains for how many years now and pax still break the sound Barrier getting to the train even though the train leaves in 5 minutes.

Is there any particular reason why LU trains use whistles instead of a horn? Was it a noise issue? Or was it a keeper from the steam days or somthing else?
