4) Signal M602 (& M622) appear to protect something off the diagram - they replaced an earlier, simpler one (which was just like M655) M578(Up side of Gifner) is at stop. I'm guessing it's protecting the Furlong Road crossing. Diagram for the area: www.signaldiagramsandphotos.com/mywebpages/vr/Metropolitan/9'2010.pdf

Entertaining the kids after lunch. Coming back up the yard for the 900th time. 861 passes by the car workshops and a red carded NMM cattle wagon. In case you didn't guess where this is. Being given the so called "Tip" The coupler between the NBD and NBH.

I can appreciate why they have the people there as it's a) reassuring to the public especially late at night having a staff presence at the platform. To be honest I would feel more safer if it was the police more than a bunch of people in Hi-vi's. All the staff will be able to do is call for help and watch. They're not going to invervne becuase of the risk of injury. All they're going to do is help you afterwards.

City 23/5/10SW6.866's PID was being rather stupid displaying some strange things. SW6.866 heads off to Docklands. VLocity 1213 and Sprinter 7004. N458 and P12 head off to the wash. Sitting around waiting for Monday morning is P11. The first P plass in the New V/Line livery. Which compaired to the A has come up well. P12 powers up to head to the Wash. SW6.856 runs over the Latrobe St Bridge on a outer circle. SW6.926 runs the other way. VLocity units 32 and 12 race into Southern Cross. PCJ492 gets shunted around. P12 and N458 come out of the wash. P12 and Y161. P12 revs it up to go park. N457 runs off to the yard. At North Melbourne Metro Liveried Northern Comeng 346M trails a Sydnenham(Watergardens) service. It includes new Blue and Yellow Stickers. New side Stickers and Door stickers on the outer doors which only go half way down. But the grey surrounds were not redone. An Flinders St Bound service loads Footy pax at Box Hill. 959M trails out. For some reason Sunday was the day the PIDS decided not be be co-operative. Here it displays a non existant 12:56 Direct Flinders Street service. According to the PIDS the next service is exactly 60 seconds later. It wasn't the only place they were playing up. At the loop stations Epping trains were apprantly not running from Macleod or Heidelberg to Epping......... An entirely 60 seconds later on the 12:57 Footy Special is a very very very very very rare sight. Hitachi 295M-1994T-296M - 281M-1946T-282M. Not bad for a train that is only allowed to be used during the peaks. Inside 282M. It's a bit of a mismatch of the Met refurb and the Connex refurb. Looking towards the number 1 door. The first section of D2.5009. P11. The Following are trams going up Swanston St. Z1.94 D1.3525 Z3.183 A2.288. Of note this tram has been fitted with A/C pods for the driver. B2.2078 Z3.208 and Z1.22

We do it this way for any express train. The example I've used is a Citybound Belgrave service that runs express Box Hill-Camberwell-Glenferrie-Richmond. Begining a service: This is a Flinders Street Limited express service direct to Flinders Street Arriving at a station where the train will begin to non stop: Now arriving at Box Hill. From Box Hill this train runs express to Camberwell Arriving at a Junction station and the train is going to be non stopping again: Now arriving at Camberwell. Change here for Alemain Service. From Camberwell this train runs express to Glenferrie At Camberwell after displaying the station name it scrolls Limited express service direct to Flinders Street

The "Station Jumble" sticker covering up the Connex one. N455 arrives with a booked out service to Melbourne. Pakenham is the only station that allows suburban passengers of V/Line services. The Trainz DLS is a good place to find downloads. I few that I know of that have a cab and pax enabled are the Class 124 and D stock(you can't move anything in the cab of the D). There is the Class 101 and 121 but these have a Default cab and can't carry pax. The GWR Railcar is there and can carry pax but the cabview doesn't have controls. I'm sure there is more but I haven't searched.

With a 2 Siemens trains a week being changed sights like this will become a thing of the past. Trailing a Connex liveried Siemens 783M Shows off the Metro livery. N452 smokes it up at Southern Cross. VLocity 03 and another 2 car VL arrive. In the past few weeks KDR has put the foot down a bit on re livering trams. Here B2.2009 is in Yarra Trams MK4 livery. N464. A Metro Siemens and Comeng. Of note in the last month Metro have re activated the sidings at SSS to stable trains. Looking down at A62. In the Bourke Street Mall D2.5014 and C.3024 run route 96 trams. Of note is the C on the 96. Something that does not happen often. Mostly because The 96 is a Southbank run and the Cs live at Kew. Also in the Mall is D2.5006 in what is apprantly MK4. It's not really much different to MK3. Just the removal of Melbourne/Cafes/Melbourne/Shopping and the addition of Yellow doors and new logos.

Melbourne would be in the same boat as Sydney. We have a very short ammount of tunnel(3-4KM per tunnel in the City Loop and a couple of Short tunnels between Jolimont and West Richmond and the Heidelberg Tunnel. If you want to split hairs you could count Box Hill) Under the Victorian Transport Plan a tunnel from Footscray to the Domain(About a KM South from Flinders St) As for when that starts who knows: www4.transport.vic.gov.au/vtp/pdfs/factsheets/VTP_FS_Metro.pdfAlso under this plan they want to make the Melbourne System a Metro: www4.transport.vic.gov.au/vtp/pdfs/vtp-07-priority3.pdfWe have about 10-40 minute headways in the mid to outer suburbs. In the city saver area can be a close as a minute to 5-8 minutes apart(Except to Jolimont where it's 15 minutes) However there is a half hour gap in the on 3 of the 4 tunnels due to the tunnels changing directions. All the timetables are published(apart from non-PSR services)

I think ours a controlled by sensors. Depending on the weather conditions our lights are on from about 4:45PM to about 7:30-8:30AM in the Morning in winter. And about 7:30PM to about 5:30AM. Yard Lights are within the same ballpark. Only inside the sheds the lights stay on.
Station Buildings are the SMs choice. Normally they're off. Depends on the station.
Even we switch off one esclator per bank in the Loop stations during off peak periods.
Just about every station has a set of wheelie bins. One for rubbish. The other for recycling.

When they get caught the courts give them a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. They should be made to clean off the rubbish they put on the trains with a toothbrush.
Around these parts very few trains run with large graffiti on them. Granted a lot do run around with small bits but they are not really noticable and a good bit of it is cleaned up when it goes through the wash. A lot also run around with the removal job that looks absloutly shocking. If is running around "painted" it doesn't last long. A peak or 2 at most. Worst case it's pulled at where a replacement train is available. We have an Asset Protection unit along with regular AOs and Transit police which does go out to yards, stations and on trains and does make arrests.
In Adelaide they put in the Belair Train compound a sprinkler system that was set of when someone breaks into the yard spraying the trains and the tresspasser.
