To finalise the updates: 7008 returned 21/3 7115 returned today. train73 7040+7097 awaiting service / in service train74 7530+7535 awaiting service train75 7008+7115 awaiting service. As all refurbs have now returned, this completes the program which started with the dispatch of the prototype unit 7008 into Acton Works on 15 March 1999, 9yrs 12days ago! It finally left Acton on 17 July 2002. The rest of the fleet started way back with the first part of train1, going to Bombardier Wakefield on 5 August 2003. That really concludes the numbers game as far as the refurbs go and my contribution to it. Apologies if I have missed something or am being totally thick, but if the last train was formed of 7534 + 7115, when did 7534 return? See Train 74. 7534 and 7535 are the same double ended unit, 7534 is the middle cab.

I've no idea what the problems are with the latest deliveries, 7103 was only released 6/4 and 7097 on 7/4.

I had a gander on 7530 on the alps when doing nights on Wednesday night, it has a problem with the J door, in that it can't be closed on 7531.

what are the opinions about the prototype? I think it's kept its character without standing out like a sore thumb

I think it's kept its character without standing out like a sore thumb Very well summed up indeed 100andthirty Had a look at it today .... very nicely done indeed. Sufficient differences to give it a different look without actually being obvious to the untrained eye. Plenty for us to spot with a look around. Here are a few pictures ... One of the 7/7 C stock cars was also present, 6548, aside from looking shiny and smelling new, I could see no differences from any other car.

oohhh! That I like! Very nice-crisp look to it! It doesn't look any different from the original, just some different colours used.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

I'm glad you all seem to like it, we put a lot of effort into getting this one car as good as we could get it. The MRSSL team, to their credit, also did an excellent job in getting the car right (under difficult circumstances). The main things we have changed are the Multi-purpose area (seats moved to a more standard layout), the door pillars (all completely new), the internal door facings (back to a standard look, not as easy as it sounds!), the flooring, and the end car doors.
The unit has not yet seen service because it is currently fitted with motored wheels/axles on the trailer car, due to a shortage of normal (non motored) sets. We carried out a completion exercise a week or so ago and were more than happy to sign it off as complete. I hope you guys like it when it goes back into service and you get a chance to 'have a ride', we are really pleased with the result.

I think that the rest of the D stock look better, I don't like the seat design on the prototype. As only 17008 had the prototype refurb, do 7008 and 8008 look normal inside?

Yes, 7008 and 8008 are standard 'D' Stock cars. I personally prefer the normal 'D' Stock too, but we did put a lot of time and effort into this one car by trying to make it as standard as we possibly could without wasting lots of money.

Question, are the new "D" end-car windows on 8008 the same size as the end-car windows on the rest of the unit?

TfL have a press release saying all trains are now in service. Is this true?

7534 is in service, so I think that all are except 7008.

Is another difference the DMI? Is it still the old prototype similar to 73/95/96 stocks?
