Wow, not many left. I presume that refurbs can't be used with original condition stock?

Train 270(?) at Earl's Court this morning, with 7040 and 7153, going to Olympia! : www.michaelwoodside.co.uk/Site/ect.jpg (sorry, couldn't figure out how to insert it into here!) It had 3 people in the cab, one with a clipboard. Someone's road test, perhaps!?

How much extra pressure is added to the fleet with several trains away for refurbishment? Some lines can deal with this sort of thing, some can't. The A stock I guess would be ok but the C stock wouldn't (isn't!!) for example.

Any idea when the last train will return? Each unit usually takes around 1 calender month after dispatch from ECom to returning. However unit 7008 will be away much longer because of the complexity involved. My guess would be around 25 March for them all to be back.

I was doing nights last night at Ealing and had a nosey about on the very last unit 7115 on the Alps. It was mechanically coupled to a refurb so I didn't put my key in to switch the lights on, but it had been cleaned and the fire extinguishers had been removed, other than that it looked ready for service.

And I can confirm that 7115 and the rest of that unit departed by road from Ealing Common depot at 15:30 yesterday afternoon as I was sitting at the outlet signal from the depot to bring T123 into service.
Quite nostalgic........
I did manage to get one photo on my phone, but haven't looked at it yet - don't hold out much hope though I'm afraid.

Just to update everyone. My department will start modification work on the 'D' Stock fleet in June, this work will see the introduction of an intruder alarm system for the cab. As the main refurb work has now come to an end, this means that smaller mod's such as the 'J' door strip are now the responsibility of the line rather than upgrades. Because we still class the refurbs as our project we are disappointed to be farming this work out to the line, so we had a meeting with the relevant bod's on Wednesday to get everything sorted and to let them know that we weren't passing the buck as it were. In short the line will need to seek funding for the 'J' door strip but because we are going to let them do this work at the same time (and with the same staff) as we do our alarm modification the cost should be minimal. I have also emphasized how important this issue is and that it isn't just a whim. So whilst we await financial approval I think we have made it so easy for them it would be daft not to JFDI!! Incidentally, another project exists to fit covers on the low level PEA's and they are also looking to piggy back on our intruder alarm work.

A colleague took lots of photo's of 7115 last Tuesday up in Derby. The unit was in stage 1 and was being stripped out, he has promised to send me the images.

That's good news about the J door mods prjb.
Can I ask if there's any action concerning the ater that ingresses in some quantity under the M door when it rains - it is significant!
The intruder alarm will be a nice to have, though not such a need as it was a few years ago!
The pass alarm mod will be good; I think since the low level nits went in (and I do appreciate the reason why) I've only had one 'delibeate' actuation - all the rest have been small hands unable to resist the call of that nice shiney red handle!

To finalise the updates:
7008 returned 21/3 7115 returned today.
train73 7040+7097 awaiting service / in service train74 7530+7535 awaiting service train75 7008+7115 awaiting service.
As all refurbs have now returned, this completes the program which started with the dispatch of the prototype unit 7008 into Acton Works on 15 March 1999, 9yrs 12days ago! It finally left Acton on 17 July 2002.
The rest of the fleet started way back with the first part of train1, going to Bombardier Wakefield on 5 August 2003.
That really concludes the numbers game as far as the refurbs go and my contribution to it.
