Once we got back into Harrow siding it wasn't leaking at all. As the train goes along on its merry way the sandite collects on the bogies, under the floor and on the wheels inside the tyre rim. Although the train had been cleaned the day before a few lumps of old sandite had fallen from under the train between the point blades stopping the points being detected as normal or reverse. The "wet" sandite reported to us by harrow cabin was indeed days old and had no bearing on the situation but led people to believe the train was laying when in fact it wasn't. One underframe clean later and she came out to play again.

Was the blown 35A fuse for the compressor then? It certainly was. That was the following evenings fun.

The D Stock RAT may be moving to Northfields Depot today for inspection then back to Acton Works. I don't have any details on timings etc. but if it moves it will be after the morning peak.
Regards,
Dan

Makes sense as westbound picc trains were arriving around 10-12 minutes late at Rayners

A stock did that last year as the 73s were having major problems with adhesion.
Shame the A stock couldn't be kept permanently for the pic!
I wonder if an additional tube sized RAT is needed for this section? Could the 5 car 1959/62 stock unit rotate the shift via Ruislip depot?

The option of diverting the RAT onto the Picc instead of its afternoon trip to Uxbridge has been officially factored in this year. Requires certain criteria etc to be met, and is with the agreement of the Met and Picc Service Managers. Can't remember exactly off of the top of my head, but think it is around 1605 ish it'd reverse off of Platform 1 at Rayners Lane if it was to head down onto the Picc instead of Uxbridge.

Have passed Neasden depot today and yesterday, and while the A Stock was there yesterday, it isn't there now. I've not seen it out and about in leaf fall duties though. Or have I just missed it so far? If you wanna know where it is whilst you're traveling, the TTN may be of use to you content.tfl.gov.uk/ttn-111-16-met.pdfA Stock is Train 710

The A Stock RAT is making a hell of a noise when it's heading out of Ricky towards London. The bogies sound like they're not getting on well with the track. Actually sounds like it's chugging like a steam train.

Saw them both today - one heading up towards Uxbridge through Ruislip Manor and one parked up in Harrow on the Hill siding.
It did make a hell of a racket going past me today. More than I've ever heard it make before

Yep,some fairly bad flats at the moment, it's made a fair racket these last 2 days I've seen it. Not quite as bad as some I've heard on the 73TS this week, but still not great!

I thought the speed signs were mph? Seems confusing and just not cricket!!

Looking at the pdf, when did tfl start using kilometres for distances? Apprarently in 1972, when a common distance system was adopted for all lines.

The metal round wheel basically it's not completely perfectly round and will have a flat causing by lock up of the wheels or wheel slip under acceleration

Saw the A stock at Amersham today, the rear car (country end) has very bad flats... I was on a Brakevan once that had similar, we wound the brake handle in until the brake blocks were just touching the wheel, it certainly removed the worst!
Anyway have seen the A stock each week now, sadly I have to travel in the awful S stock or the slightly better Chiltern DMU to get to from London. Can we please have proper seats in our trains again?

If the D RAT is due very soon, are they not going to bother fixing it?

The metal round wheel basically it's not completely perfectly round and will have a flat causing by lock up of the wheels or wheel slip under acceleration More of a problem, I would guess, with metal wheels as rubber tyres can absorb some of the irregularities there may be. But the very soft tyres used in motor rscing (where grip is more important than durability) are prone to getting flat spots if the driver locks up the brakes, which can cause serious vibration.

Which once caused a front suspension failure for Kimi Räikkönen. (Don't let me distract you)

Who drives the Rat? Is it test train operators or normal train ops? (like a rusty rail duty)
