I am not sure if this has been posted or not (I did try to check) but I found this clip from the Ffestiniog railway showing the restoration of the Met' Railways four wheeler coach 353 at their Boston Lodge works. An immense amount of work by any standard, especially when you need to source a complete replacement under frame (and working with standard gauge equipment in a two foot gauge workshop).

Very limited number of tickets have been released this morning (about 10 minutes ago) by the museum, for the 13th and 20th January runs, on a first come first served basis: www.ltmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/events/vehicles-on-the-moveThese tickets cannot be booked online, you will need to phone the museum direct on 0207 565 7298.

I quite like this video from the BBC. I think I particularly admire the chap who's caption describes him simply as "Engine Driver".

Does anyone have a timetable for the Jan 13 run? This will be well worth photographing.

I don't know official times but I know there's a trip from Moorgate to Edgware Rd and back leaving at 2010 - cant remember which way is steam and which is Sarah though.

What route from Olympia will the Steam train take to Moorgate? Via Edgware Road or Victoria?

I don't understand, why are they purposefully blocking views of the train?

I don't understand, why are they purposefully blocking views of the train? I would imagine so that those who have paid for the privilege of being able to photograph it are not usurped by those who have not paid.

Nice sneaky little move by LU there, either so when all passengers get off the steam train at Moorgate (some would be journalists etc) would have to have a photo of the steam train next to one of LU's nice shiny new trains...

I'm not entirely clear on whether No. 1 has working condensing gear fitted. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I don't understand, why are they purposefully blocking views of the train? Probably crowd control, otherwise the other platforms would be even more packed full of people stopping and staring in a station which is already going to be packed full of steam train enthusiasts.

Its there in case of a breakdown of the special, if they have to detrain the passengers. There will also be a pair of battery locos there for the same reason.

Judging from a photo on the BBC website yes it is the wrapped unit.

I don't understand, why are they purposefully blocking views of the train? I will not be the only ones enjoying the Jubilee carriage tonight. There are will be passengers who want to get from A to B as usual. Those people do not expect unreasonable obstruction. But you can enjoy a good quality photo I uploaded via Wifi - amid the cold, I came early for the centre perspective: Steam on the Tube by Trowbridge Estate, on Flickr

Thanks for that, crusty54. What a pity - I imagine she had them in her original state.

I was out this morning as was just about everyone else. I waited at Bayswater with Kateyay and Tom and over the course of the morning saw Antje (I think), IanVisits, JulianG, Ajax, Version3Point1, Charlie J at Edgware Road briefly and a couple of gone but not forgotten members.
The engine flew through the station - I thought it might go at 5mph but it barely slowed down. We were also shoved out of the way by someone working at the station who was incredibly rude to a couple of us and told us she was 'pulling rank' on us despite us having made ourselves known to one of the CSA's, obeying all the normal rules and having waited there for about three-quarters of an hour. She didn't want to talk at all after the engine had gone by so I ended up speaking to the Station Supervisor who told me to contact Customer Services, which I'll be doing. Her hi-vis said SRT and she was only interested in speaking to me once she seen I'd spoken to the SS. Hmmm.
Pictures to come later on when I get them off my camera. Currently thinking of buying an Eye-Fi to make all this easier.

I chose Bark Place because I wanted to convey the original concept of the Underground with the old-style architecture. I did also get some C Stocks and with Photoshop I can make it look as if it was still in its original livery. There still a bit of work to do such as the blending but here is the mockup: img84.imageshack.us/img84/5945/mockupf.jpg

Here's my best photo of the day: and most of the rest are here[/u], including some of the liveried train. From taking a quick glance at his camera earlier JulianG's photos on Flickr will be worth looking out for, as will bowroaduk's.
