Which misses my point that not all of the expenses you mention will need to be put against just the two days of specials on the city section of the Met. Of course not, but it's these trips that much of the expense has been necessary and demand is likely to outstrip the limited supply even at these prices so it makes sense for them to shoulder their fare share of the financial burden - as much as i'd like to travel on them the other event's should be more affordable and without needing to win a lottery for tickets. Has anyone else not received a ballot confirmation? Has the museum's email system packed up?

Sorry to say so but in any dealigs I've had with them I've found them unreliable. Either the phone rings and rings with no reply or if you get an answerphone which says "Leave a message and we'll get back to you" they never do. The one time I got through to speak diectly, the person was not there and no idea when they would be!

Has anyone else not received a ballot confirmation? Has the museum's email system packed up? Same for me. The page after submitting for entry had an error at the bottom of the page, saying an error had occurred in send_mail.asp..

Log back into your account on the LT Museum web site. This should show if you have entered - I didn't get the e-mail either, but my account shows that I have entered.

They really are useless. Made a call enquiring about a fortnight ago. In fact made several, as the first time I was passed around the opperators, the second went to answer phone, the third I was disconnected and the fourth I spoke to someone who said they'd ring back...
And, the terms of conditions for cancelations don't quite seem to make sense. You have to notify them you wish to cancel at least a day before booking.... I know what they're trying to say!

I had a very similar experience when I tried to book the A stock tour tickets. In fact I had to try several times before my seats were finally confirmed. Phone calls either went onto answer phones, wrong extensions, messages never returned and incorrect advice given. Unfortunately with all the faffing about I lost out on the carriage I wanted.
Then at £40 I thought the cost was steep as you could do this for free (on a staff pass) a few days before. However LTM should have made a play about the free entry tickets to Acton and the brochure. Both of which were a bonus and took some heat of the cost.
Still at £190 a seat – I understand the reasons for this cost, but it rules out a large section of the enthusiast community. Only those with a good disposable income can afford to apply.
Thats a shame, as several worthy people would I am sure be put off by the price. Lottery or no Lottery!

Hot on the heels of the carriage restoration, Met No1 steamed today after her overhaul. According to the article, the January runs are a sell-out - this would tie-in with the 40,000 applications that a visitor to the LTM was supposedly told they'd received by someone there, though that sounds a touch on the high side to me... I hope it's going to have a better livery than that!

I am sorry to hear of Forum member's issues with the LT Museum. I you feel that you need to complain why not contact Sam Mullins I am sure he would want to make sure that the system of ticket booking is working fairly.

I you feel that you need to complain why not contact Sam Mullins I am sure he would want to make sure that the system of ticket booking is working fairly. Without wishing to be rude, the problem seems to be either lack of staff or lack of knowlegeable staff. Since both can only be solved by extra money, and the LTM is reportedly hovering over an abyss at the moment, doesn't look like much can be done. They really are attrocious with telephones though...

According to free2grice on South West Rail Gen, Met No.1 is now en-route to the Severn Valley Railway.

I do believe (based on the call I've had this morning) that they are now announcing the results of the ballot...

LU are advertising for stewards internally and it reads more like a job application!
Viz:
1. Your previous experience as a steward on special trains
2. How you can assist in the role
3. Why you should be selected
4. Preferred date to work

Does anyone know how many applications were made in total for the ballot? One number I read on a forum somewhere said 40,000 but that sounds a heck of a lot.

I've been lucky to get a ticket from the staff ballot too, leaving Moorgate at 19.15 I'm having problems however responding, they said 'Please can you accept or decline this invitation by responding ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the top left hand corner of the screen. Choose edit response to supply your mailing address.' but I cannot find this response button anywhere. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Does anyone happen to know when the tickets are going to be mailed? To answer my own question: I gave LTM a call, they said the first week in January.

ccf23 - it just maybe a problem with the particular browser you use (I have had this problem with some webshops, where the "buy" button has vanished). Firefox and Opera are especially prone apparently. A switch of browser may well solve the problem.

I did it through Microsoft Outlook, opening the e-mail fully as opposed to viewing in preview, then on the top left you get a 'Vote' box, click that.
