What does 'PM sent' mean? despatched in the afternoon? I spoke to an enthusiast on the platform at Northwood today who claimed to know that Thursday's scrap move would depart Acton at 1026. Yesterday evening through the double fence, barbed wire and dense shrubbery off Princes Ave I could just make out a C stock train parked in the back sidings of Acton Works. So unless it's moved in the meantime I assume it's 1026 from there. Incidentally parked alongside was what looked like a 1959 stock tube train, but fearful of razor wire, scatter guns and armed guards didn't hang around so couldn't be sure. It's like the old East German border down there. That's one brave enthusiast if he's gonna put money on what's going to happen... Just remember the final night of C stock operation being somewhat different to the timetable and the final C stock in normal passenger service being a little curtailed... That is exactly why the Admins have as section 7 of the Rules: (7.1a) The information is usually available only within documents marked 'for internal use only' (7.1b) The timings can never be guaranteed - in fact these sort of movements often don't happen at the times published, if at all (7.1c) Making the details of such movements public could cause issues with unplanned overcrowding at stations or other locations We do this, not to hide a massive non-existent secret, but instead through much knowledge and experience...

Have the last remaining 'C' Stock trains been disposed of as yet. This would include the tour train of 29th June and also the spare set?

The spare set (last service train - 5533+5517+5592) was disposed of via Ealing Common on Friday. There is one more 6-car unit to depart - the railtour train (5721+5531+5578). 5721 only is expected to be retained by the LTM. Here's some photos from Friday's run, which operated Hammersmith (Met)-Moorgate-Acton Town-Ealing Broadway-Ealing Common. 5592 - Ladbroke Grove by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5533 - Ladbroke Grove by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5592 - Moorgate by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5592 - Moorgate by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5592 - Moorgate by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5592 - Moorgate by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5592 - Moorgate by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5533 - Ealing Broadway by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5592 - Ealing Broadway by MoreToJack, on Flickr 5533 - Ealing Broadway by MoreToJack, on Flickr

I've been going back through my photographs of the Cs from the last couple of years and I've found a photo of 5707 passing through Acton Town on 29th September 2013 as T177 - the same day as the '38 stock trips to Heathrow. I've seen it reported in some places that the train had already been withdrawn by this date, however the withdrawals list doesn't show it being withdrawn (to Neasden) until February of this year. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on what it was doing/where it was going so I can adjust my records accordingly? Thanks.

This was just a Training Run to cover the routes that are not usually used by the District line trains.

Anyway, that's my records updated. :-)

Thanks, Julian. I guess it ran up to Ruislip, reversed, then via the Met to Neasden? Anyway, that's my records updated. :-) It would've stayed on the District Line and as Julian says, traversed unusual moves to train drivers; Gunnersbury, Putney Bridge, fast line Acton-Hammersmith, Mansion House etc. 5703+5547+5707 was dispatched to Northwood on 20/02/2014 with 5707 being a sad loss having some very nice sounding motors!

This might be appropriate for a new thread, but with LT Museum unwilling and/or unable to support preservation of whole units, should LUL be taking more responsibility for keeping heritage stock thats able to run? What is the set up like in other cities such as New York and Berlin - who owns and financially maintains the vintage stock there?
Just seems a shame that the C stock, a train unique to LT in so many ways, will be reduced to just one dead, stuffed carriage. Juse seems incredibily short sighted.

There was talk of the LTmuseum depot becoming train only, and the buses and other stuff moving to a new home at some point.
