This thread may be a bit early yet.
As far as I'm aware only 5595/6595 have been withdrawn (post-refurb), that is if we omit the 7/7 victims.

Definitely withdrawn, but may not yet be 'officially'.

Quite possibly - probably not economical to put back into service - stopped 21.08.09. Each depot has its "Christmas Tree" (a unit that hasn't run for ages) at some time!

It won't be confirmed until mid/late November internally, but the latest figures are: Regular daytime testing of S7s in the first part of next year, 3-5 S7s in proper service by the Olympics, first C-stock withdrawal July/August next year.
As I said, this is the latest I've heard, and it seems to change weekly ;D

5036-6037-5037 is now 5116-6117-5117. It was out of service from 9.07.77 until reinstated, back in service 07.05.93. It contains the original 6116 (Kilburn collision 11.12.84).
This unit formed of refurb Train 41.

Sorry about deviating from the point.... I'm fairly confident that 5555 is for the chop early on, as its pretty much useless unless its in the middle of a formation.

Why would car 5555 be one of the first to be scrapped?
I'm always seeing it around, for some reason it has larger sized numbers than all the other numbers on C Stock cars.

The prong which controls traction and braking has a habit of thinking the driver has let go, even when they are still pressing down on it. Unless this has been fixed (which I really doubt, as its always in the centre of formation), I think its for an early retirement.

I'm fairly confident that 5555 is for the chop early on, as its pretty much useless unless its in the middle of a formation. But it works well enough to keep a 6-car running! I'm always seeing it around, for some reason it has larger sized numbers than all the other numbers on C Stock cars. As previously mentioned in this Forum 5555 has served in both the "Yellow Pages" and "Back the Olympic Bid" trains and gained the larger number at last repaint.

So if it were on the front, it would sometimes randomly apply the emergency brakes? Not really a good reason to retire it, I think...

We'll leave that for the project manager to decide.

I am guessing the plan to start introducing S7 stock before all the S8 stock is working has been dropped then? I did hear that after the first 40 S8 were in service, the S7 delivery would start so there would be a fair few S7s for the olymipics?

S7 and S8 isn't logical anymore, I suppose. (like the 95TS/96TS thing)

Well, the S8 was introduced way before the S7, like the 96TS way before the 95TS. (Except that none of them are more modern than the other)

The number applies to the number of cars per train rather than the year of construction in this case and is a break from the traditional numbering system.

How will the Evo's be numbered? Something like T6 (6 cars - Picc), T7 (7 cars - Bakerloo), T8 (8 cars, Central)... How many cars did the 92TS on the Drain have?

No idea!! I think the Evo is a long way off, certainly up to 10 years away. A great deal will change before then.
They may be EVO6, EVO7 and EVO8! The W&City uses a 4 car train formed DM-UNDM+UNDM-DM or E-F cars. The previous 1940 stock used 5 car trains of DM+T-T-T+DM

As at current information, it will be 3 x S7s before the S8s are finished. Then the remaining S7s will be rolled out. The next working timetable on the H&C (December) will contain 2 trains which will both become S7 worked (in customer service) during the life of the timetable (so before next summer).

I hope T fL will first buy 4 prototype trains from different manufacturers, and allow customers to get feedback. (Like the 86TS - the green train won - became the 92TS)
