I think what has determined that this ticket should have printed on "Blue Stock" is the fact it is a Replacement. I don't think the period of validity has any bearing. The only time that this would be a factor is for an annual Priv Season. These were and I believe still are printed on "Grey Stock" This is in comparison to a normal passengers annual which would be printed on "Gold Stock"

At which station did the Station Foreman sell tickets from a table along with the morning Papers. Or was this just a myth?

I've been having a conversation with one of my former colleagues this morning. He tells me that the "Stand on Both sides of the Escalator" procedure is nothing new. It was used in the early 70s at Holborn. Perhaps someone should tell the present station supervisor or whatever they are called these days.

As I said earlier I used the service to Farringdon many years ago. I can still remember magically appearing out of the depths of Kings Cross for the return trip to New Southgate.

Yes what a great film certainly brought back some memories. Although I never used the Widened Lines during the age of steam I certainly usedit when class 31s would run down it. I would like to query something about Kings Cross St Pancras Metropolitan station. In the film it was later used by the Thameslink service. Was it actually called Thameslink in those days.
As for the music well that was amazing brought back loads of memories. Well done Roythebus

Just watched the first episode on catch up TV. I left LUL/TfL in 2005 passengers don't change even after all this time some think that it's easy to run the network and they have the solution. I would be interested in finding out how they would run it.

I'd go along with Bush Hill Pk as well. The building in the background used to be called " The Bush Hill Park" don't know if it still is.

Progress indeed! Now that the major stumbling block of union opposition is out of the way, how long before the Night Tube kicks off? Presumably before the mayoral election? You mean before purdah kicks in in 19 days? No planned big news announcements or events are allowed to happen during the election campaign in case they influence the outcome. TfL have had 60+ consultations open but they all close come 20 March and I don't expect anything new to emerge until after the election. Introducing the night tube would be a complete "no no" - remember the nonsense about "officially" opening part of the ELL during an election campaign in 2010? As others have said I doubt all the staff and rosters are in place nor are all the signage etc changes ready. It'll be several months before it starts - assuming the remaining unions agree to LU's pay and conditions package. Could it not be put as an announcement from the "Mayor Of London" without mentioning any person. I seem to remember that this what could be done when I worked for TfL.

Possibly something to do with CCTV as I think purple signifies TV or something similar.

I have just been reading the above in relation to how it will or has affected staff. Although this might sound cynical it seem to me that it a newer version of "Action Stations" which to those who remember fell apart as it was felt it will never work. I wonder if LUL/TfL have got it right this time. I will wait but not hold my breath.

Perhaps Londoners AREN'T really interested after all as has been said above. As I don't live in London any more so I am not in tune with the feelings on the ground. If there was a lot of interest surely there would be hundreds of very irate potential "Night Tube" passengers banging on BJ's door or is there. Does Boris not care any more as he won't be the Mayor for much longer

I would imagine the queues will be getting longer at the POMs as passengers want to renew their Annual season tickets. I can remember in the past that Amersham could sell 10 Annuals and that would be over £30k sometimes they would take in one shift the same as OXO. Very few annuals can be renewed on the machines as there is a limit on the maximum card transaction. I can't remember it off the top of my head, but it's not much. In which case how are annuals renewed, on line or at Visitor Centres. Could be some irate Annual Card holders!

Excuse me for my cynicism but it seems to me that some recent recruits see LUL through rose coloured specs. Try as others have hinted standing by a ticket machine on a Friday or Saturday night after 1800hrs, yes 1800 hrs at somewhere like Westbourne Pk giving advice to "customers " on how to purchase a ticket you would be told in no uncertain terms where to stick your ticket When I worked there on the late turn the foreman would go in his office and lock the door. I would watch the tele as no one ever wanted to buy a ticket. Perhaps all thses new recruits have been brainwashed at Ashfield House. I say bring back the armoured glass and the bomb proof booking office doors. I don't think it is anything new. When I first joined there were all these old boys saying "thank god I am retiring". I said I would never be the same as I thought it was a wonderful job. Years later I was the same and took early retirement as soon as I could.[/quote I got out of LUL as soon as I had the opportunity to. Although only as far as the LTM where I spent many happy years until I had the chance to take early retirement/VS. which I took as soon as I could. LUL might be 21st century but unfortunately the passengers aren't. Good luck to all those poor souls who have to take the flak in the ticket halls.

It may well and good in the busy stations for the need to have SA's or whatever they are called now to be in the ticket hall dealing with passengers wanting ticket. However what are the staff expected to do in station like Croxley or Chesham on a Sunday evening when you would be lucky to see a dozen people all night. Are they expected to stand in the ticket hall for the whole of their shift twiddling their thumbs. At least when they were based in an office they could keep an eye on the cctv systems. I should know what it's like I spent 6 years working at the north end of the Met.

I think I'm begining to understand now. In which case I purchase the Oyster card from a NR ticket in London for example St Pancras International or is there another alternative outlet at St Panc or Kings Cross.

How are the forms obsolete I only received them yesterday morning from TfL staff travel. I do not have an Oyster Card as I live outside London. My question is will the staff at stations have access to new Oyster Cards anddo they need to be registered or am I barking up the wrong tree.

No my PTAC is valid until next year. As I'm due to go to London on the 26th of this month I thought I would sort it out then.

After a few years i have decided to apply for a Retired Priv Oyster Card. I havealready had the forms authorised by TfL Staff travel. However where do I now go to get the actual Oyster Card now that the majority of Booking Offices are closed. Will the "Roaming" staff have access to Oyster Cards, will they be able to takew the deposit and finally I assume I can add money to my card at any of the POMS in London or do it on line. At the moment my local NR station does not accept Oyster as we are outside the London travel Zone

Just to think when I worked at the LT Museum I lost count of how many time I visited Aldwych and Down St. Also had the opportunity to go to Brompton Rd and Euston disused. Charing Cross was still in ful opration then no closed parts.

If the new uniformis are the one with the red zips and Roundels on the cuffs. All I can say is I am glad I don't work for LUL anymore. They look like something out of "Thunderbirds Are Go"

If it's between Bounds Green and Wood Green could it be connected with a ventilation shaft as there's one between the two stations.

Further to my earlier post, when I first joined LUL in 1989 I went straight to the Met. At that time I worked at Watford. There was no service at at all on Christmas day and on Boxing day there was a service only to HOH, Northwood and Rickmansworth. When was the service over the Christmas reduced to this level and when did it start to increase to the level as at present.

Remember too we had Christmas Day services in the early 1970's They generally stared about 0730 and finished about 1430. I've just found a hand-written Met WTT for Christmas 1973 in my collection. I too am amazed at today's TPH compared to my days on LT 1970-74. Hourly fast Amersham and that was your lot! Staff trains too that ran until the early hours and started again at silly-o-clock. Out of curiosity what sort of service would have run on Christmas day, How far out on the Met would the service have operated.

I was originally a booking clerk out on the Met. Some of my colleagues on the Met had been promoted under Action Stations they were known as if I can remember SSM. I was trained up to station supervisor level and was known as a Multifunctional Station Supervisor. However when I moved to the Northern Line me and others at Goodge Street were known as Station Supervisor 2 Multifunctional. I don't think this was a very common grade but I may be wrong. If I remember I think my BC training lasted about 6-8 weeks
