Hello all,
Just wanted to discuss this one quickly (without any politics getting involved please!). The TfL website currently says:
I remember a similar strike (station staff) back in 2005/6 maybe, where there seemed to be some sort of loose rule about how many deep level stations were closed before a service suspension became necessary, and what the exact rules and regs are these days?
So for example, how many deep level stations can be shut on the deep level section of the central line before it will become necessary to close it from (I guess) White City <> Leytonstone?
Will projected service patterns become clearer on Sunday night once staff haven't booked on and therefore these sorts of decisions can be made maybe?
Thanks in advance, all.
-Jim.

I always thought Chesham to C&L was the longest distance between stations?

Lancaster Gate? Chosen for today because it's now closed for lift refurbishment?

I will be putting the links up for people to play at home on the day as usual. I must admit that I hadn't thought about people printing their own grid in advance to bring with them - part of me is reluctant to do that too soon as it (of necessity) gives some clues as to the stations involved however another part of me wonders whether it is possible to fill in the grid with none of the pictures (and if so, whether there is only one correct answer or multiple possibilities). I need to think a bit more about that - opinions welcome! I can't make it, but I'd suggest you stick to the tried and tested version and only reveal it on the day. For those members who make the effort to be there (in some instances from quite the distance!), it seems to be the fairest and best way. For those attending, I hope you all have a cracking day!

It's pretty darn loud between North Greenwich and Canary Wharf westbound too at the moment!

Just out of interest, has anyone seen any negative press yet about the noise from trains running all night after the test weekend? I live sufficiently far enough away from the central line (in South Woodford) for it to not be an issue, but I genuinely expect a fair few complaints from those who live in close proximity to lines to have a moan to some of the local rags. I don't know the west end of the central line all that well past White City, but the east end once it clears Leyton pretty much cuts its way through all manner of suburban (and nappy valley / NIMBY) areas.

I don't have any questions to add, but I did visit the LTM for the first time today at the ripe old age of 35. Had a wonderful afternoon and loved my time there, so just a quick message to say thanks and keep up the good work! Will be back soon for sure. Just need to swerve your bookshop by the coffee shop; I could spend a small fortune there if I'm not careful!

Have you tried claiming DELAY REPAY on the TFL website? - Better act quckly, as there is a 14 day time limit- and all the items appear to qualify for a Service delay Refund - Paid to your Bank Account now. Yep, I'm all over that. I'm not fussed about the financial implications to be honest, just curious about what's going / what went wrong. And the amount of time it's cost me over the past 48 hours! I am still a smidgen irked about the good service website status versus the reality of the situation at times though, Seems like things are back to normal tonight now. Long may it continue!

Yep ta - an eastbound train did eventually turn up after about 20 mins. No sign of the Epping shuttle when I got to Leytonstone so carried on to Wanstead and got a cab home from there. We appear to have a good service back now today fortunately, so I'm guessing the problem wasn't as bad as last time? Actually, scratch that. The TfL website says good service but at the station they're saying severe delays still that are due to continue for the remainder of the day. A nice 16 minute wait for a westbound train for me!

On my return journey now and have been parked up at Lancaster Gate for 15 mins already. It's a discussion for elsewhere, but this is the epitome of "severe delays" versus "sod off elsewhere and try another route". Quite frustrating.

So far I've had a 14 minute wait at South Woodford for a Leytonstone service, and now a 16 minute wait at Leytonstone for the next westbound train into town. All fun and games!
Also trains are reversing in platform 1 back to Epping. Not sure how rare that is, but I've not seen it before in service!

Not a good night tonight then! Same deal as before (Hainault from 3; Epping from 2?). Coupled with the the western suspension it's not a good night for the red line.
Not forewarned this time so I opted for the tube to Wanstead and then a cab. Drivers only advising of the Epping service from the centre platform upon arrival at Leytonstone, so guessing this setup was maybe not as 'permamant' as this diversionary route was last time?

This was due to points failure at leytonstone, the points were unable to give the route towards hainault, so the points had to be scotch and clipped to give the hainault route, thus unable to give an Epping route. So trains towards Epping were diverted through the middle where an Epping route can be given. Hope this helps Splendid - thanks!!

Hi all,
Never had this before: upon arriving at Leyton e/b at circa 1940 today, our train announced that for Hainault / Newbury Park to change at at Leyton, because we (a Loughton train) would be calling at platform 2 at Leytonstone and onwards up towards Epping.
Sure enough we did a rare (to me at least) rusty rail move into platform two at LES and then back onto the usual e//b line east of LES.
There wasn't a train - defective or otherwise - in the usual e/b platform at LES, so I was wondering what prompted this cheeky little detour.
Certainly made my journey home more interesting!
Thanks!
Jim.

An additional observation further to the original thread: the S Car Stop marker (or maybe 8 car stop marker) on the eastbound TfL Rail platform has now been moved back to 2/3ds of the way down the platform rather at the far end, thus exacerbating the congestion at the western end of the platforms where pax now surface.
I've got to ask: who thought this was a bright idea?

Happens on the central line too at Leytonstone w/b. You can have quite the little race there before the two tracks merge!
