Or type by the looks of it! ;D My train was pulling in I can't type terribly well on a full size keyboard at times either... I tend to touch type and once had my fingers one key out on the keyboard, so managed to type an entire forum post one char out -- such that all the A chars converted the post to Caps Lock / Lower Case, S's became A etc.

Interesting that the staff don't agree with it too, Colin... but I'm guessing management don't listen? Diana: I think you'll probably find that they DO care about not having a service at weekends, as that costs them money for a start... although quite why discussion of that needs to sneak in to every thread, I'm not sure

Were there any issues on the Uxbridge branch between 8 and 9.30 this morning?
I did here someone announcing something when I went through Rayners Lane but I couldn't distinguish it as the driver was also announcing something, but my Uxbridge - Aldgate service (didn't spot the number etc.) caught people by surprise by announcing at Harrow OTH that it was a fast aldgate service, next stop Finchley Road.
To be fair to the driver, he may have announced this at Rayners Lane, but as there was also a platform announcement going on, distinguishing the two was difficult!

It was still there this morning... I keep meaning to mention it to the cheerful chappy who's there in the morning, but am usually in a rush for the train.

It's more the "We're stopped at this signal and will be held until x" announcements that annoy me and what I was referring to in my comment...
Especially on the Jubilee Line from Kingsbury to Wembley between 1730 and 1800 -- the driver makes the announcement and then we move... same on the Met between West Harrow and Rayners Lane.

I knew it was the phonetic alphabet but couldn't work out what RTI was meant to be... Sounds like it's a poster telling drivers to bombard us with announcements to me

Not sure whether anyone will be able to, or is allowed to answer this... but at Wembley Park on the Southbound Jubilee there's an A4 laminated poster which says:
'All Train Operators
Romeo Tango India'
and it's been intriguing me on the morning commute...
Anyone know what it's about?

Is the link a religious theme, and the odd one out Canons Park (priest, others Churches/Temple) A canon is a religious thing as well though? define:canon says: # a priest who is a member of a cathedral chapter Edit: Unless it's religion theme throughout, 3 are religious buildings and one is just religious?

I'm confused, slightly...
How can the Picadilly line be suspended Rayners Lane - Uxbridge, for Track Replacement work when the Metropolitan Line appears to be running, and as far as I can tell, they run on the same track?

Given it's now been at least 4 months since the Circle Line started running to Hammersmith, would it not be expected that all the Jubilee Line trains running would have updated tube maps?
Was on one this morning and the carriage I was in still appeared to have the old ones...

I'd guess soon they'd stop being classed as trial runs as according to the TFL website, a new train is going to be introduced every 2 weeks now...

I remember seeing somewhere that the tender for resignalling on the sub-surface lines has been put up and only Bombardier promised to do the signalling without weekend closures or something...presumably this means shutting down early... The bit I saw that read that (and I'm not sure where it was) implied to me that they'd run the new signalling in parallel to the existing stuff... so I'm sure running a cable between (say) Ickenham and Ruislip could be done during evening shutdown for example but other things might require longer shutdowns - but maybe just a week of early closures for example?

"Welcome aboard this Metropolitan Line service to Uxbridge. Calling at Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Barbican, Farringdon, Kings Cross St Pancras, Euston Square, Great Portland Street, Baker Street, Finchley Road, Wembley Park, Preston Road, Northwick Park, Harrow on the Hill, West Harrow, Rayners Lane, Eastcote, Ruislip Manor, Ruislip, Ickenham, Hillingdon and Uxbridge"
I would think that could get a bit annoying by the time you reached Kings Cross... and at some stations, you'd probably be at the next stop by the time it finished?
I'd support you in the format that (from memory) Chiltern do... which is an in-car scrolling display of the stations called at and an announcement of 'Welcome aboard this Met Line service to Uxbridge." or "Welcome aboard this Fast Metropolitan Line Service to Amersham" etc.

Any ideas what the closure on the weekend is for between Wembley and Northwood/Uxbridge is for? It seems a strange closure unless the work is between HOTH and Rayners Lane from a customer's perspective? Then again, if it's to test S-Stock, I'll take my camera and tripod as I'll be in Ickenham right next to the tube line all day Sunday

What all night ?? Can they do so ? I certainly hope no T/Op's work overtime or do agree to any sneaky deals to make this happen !! Why do you hope that? Surely it would make sense to be seen to be providing a service, at least from the customer perspective....

On the Thursday night when it was suspended, it did appear to be suspended from Ruislip; on the Wednesday night it was Hillingdon - Uxbridge according to my SMS update.
This does prompt another question that I'll raise in a another thread, one I've worked out how best to draw the images that are needed to go with it!!

On Wednesday there was a signal failure at Uxbridge in the evening peak period...
On Thursday there was apparently a points and track failure (according to the rather cheery and excellent driver) on my train yesterday...
What's been up over the last few days?
(Here's hoping it's fine tonight so I can get to my destination!)

It does seem slightly OTT to close the entire line to test the new train(s), to me... although that's looking at it from a customer point of view.

Looks like the signaling system on the SSR between Baker Street and Aldgate went again this morning...
Was this related to the previous few days problems, or completely seperate?

If it's at Aldgate, and affected H&C and Circle line, why is the Met still (allegedly) running to Aldgate? Usually these things end up delaying it too, or at least taht's the impression I get?

I'd hazard a guess that the app might be 'Tube Deluxe' - at least, that's the app I use to get train departure information...
I've found these display boards in other places that like to just display the destination and no time (or nothing, then the destination) - some on the Met line out Ruislip way usefully tell you it's the North (West?) bound platform too.

Generally speaking, they're stored where you saw them - that's the whole point of the Museum depot open days at Acton; they allow you to have access to stuff stored there that cannot be kept at the Covent Garden location Is there more to the depot than just the bit that was open then? I would have expected there to be more 'historical' stock stored than would appear to be room for in the building that was open to the public on Sunday... that's what prompted the question.

I was wondering, after the Acton Open Day on Sunday, where trains like Sarah Siddons get stored, any other 'historical' trains that TFL own are?

There may be a special trip with Sarah Siddons however. Talking to a marketing person on Sunday at Acton, there's talk of running her for something in Amersham later in the year.

Agreed, as does my housemate and travel companion on the night in question... but that's what the T/Op called them.
