One would hope that there would be one or two non-lunatics at the asylum to object to such sycophantic naming wiping out a well know name, but apparently not.
I hope at least that they see some sense and use Crossrail on roundels on trains and stations, as to have an individual line on a roundel is very bizarre.

All lines on the Rail & Underground network use the word ‘line’. However labelling of lines on network signage and maps is inconsistent. DLR stock is able to display certain phantom stations such as "Thames Wharf" and "Bow Creek" as they were written into the DVA to cater for potential future use. If TFL had even a smidgen of common sense left they would retain "Crossrail" as the name of the network meaning we would have for example Underground, Overground, Crossrail, DLR, Tramlink etc, but then use the "Elizabeth Line" name just for the actual line.
Hopefully this would mean that connecting trains would say for example "Change here for the District line and Crossrail Elizabeth Line". This is what happens on Overground trains at Whitechapel, which say "Change here for the London Underground District and Hammersmith and City Lines".
This would leave the door open for future Crossrail lines to be named the "Crossrail ............. Line"

Hopefully they'll scrap the upgrade cuz it is in many ways a disaster. The new announcements are read at a slower pace than the originals, and the widespread splicing and dicing of old and new makes it sound like a botched job!

I'm rather confused regarding the situation with the additional MLX/Croxley train, so I would be grateful if someone could confirm/correct the following as I understand it:
The "extra" MLX/Croxley train is already here, S7+1 21327/21328 with extra car 25386. So Train 192 will be an additional normal S7, 21567/21568, to replace it and ensure the District/Circle/H&C has the full number of 133 trains.
So what will happen with 21385/21386, which has had its M2 car stolen? Presumably an additional M2 car will be made, and will this new car be renumbered as "25386" to match the rest of the train?
Also will the permanent S7+1 be renumbered, as otherwise there will be 2 cars numbered "25386", and if so will it be renumbered to follow on from the S8's, becoming 21117/21118?

I must say that I don't think that this Nick Brown manager guy presented himself in a very good light at all, by appearing so indifferent to her concerns, and trying to dismiss them with a simple "So you don't like it?", not to mention trying to use "I live in Birmingham" as an excuse for not paying a visit to Victoria when he is a big-shot at Transport for London.
However, I also feel that with any change there will be a period of difficulty, and that the impact of the ticket office closure at Victoria should have been best judged AFTER the work had been completed and additional ticket machines had been installed, and things had settled down, which would be a much fairer comparison. Therefore I feel that those who were opposed to the ticket office closures could have made their case better, instead of just focusing on the short term "chaos"

I also think they should have some sort of service message for individual train delays/cancellations, but of course only on low frequency routes with perhaps 4tph or less e.g. most of the Overground, Met outer branches

From the PDF below it would seem that "The Crossrail 2 station at Dalston would be a double-ended station, with an interchange at Dalston Junction at the southern end, and an interchange with Dalston Kingsland at the Northern end."
Probably a bit like Liv Street/Moorgate and Farringdon/Barbican on Crossrail
No mention of naming it all "Dalston" though

Noticed a stickered S stock diagram yesterday which appeared to have been designed for something else. The sticker covered Liverpool Street and Aldgate. Both the pink and yellow lines were much narrower than the lines on the rest of the diagram. And "Aldgate" was printed to the left of the line (inside the Circle) whereas on the underlying diagram it was printed on the other side of the line, in a bigger typeface, and was not covered by the sticker. Was it designed for something else, and if so what? Without having seen the sticker in question, I could only make an educated guess. The S7s have two different sizes of line diagrams inside them, and it's entirely possible that the stickers were destined for the 'other' diagrams. I'll keep an eye out. The S7s are now overdue new line maps anyway denoting the new 'Zone 2/3' area for Bromley-by-Bow and West Ham. These have appeared (bizarrely!) on the D stock (and the 92/96TS), but not yet the S... They have started to appear on the S, both District and H&C, but only on a few units and not in great numbers

I really like this the colour scheme is very sensitive to the Bakerloo line and the age if the trains. The floor looks good too. I wonder if the proposal to remove a couple of longitudinal seats in the 43XX cars will happen? Is that to provide a wheelchair area?

A quick note to anyone who is in a position to fix but the door chimes on 24443 doors X/Z are not working. So far two people have been hit by the doors in the last 10 minutes. Not strictly about the S7 stock, but to save starting a new thread... I've noticed new in-car line diagrams appearing in D Stock, showing the new 'Zone 2/3' in East London. Is it actually worth the cost/effort to update these, since they only have a few months left in service? I'm not sure how much difference it will make to people using these stations? I've yet to see any appear in S-Stock yet... On the topic of in car diagrams in general, how often are they likely to be updated? What are the costs involved? I'm surprised there's been no investment into digitising these displays. I would think in the long term, it would be cost-beneficial to do so...? Indeed I was surprised to see D Stock being given fresh diagrams whereas S7's have VERY outdated maps. for example some S7 maps still do not show Paddington Suburban as step free, and have references to Hammersmith D&P not being step free until December 2013! Also the "Central London Tube Map" in the S7's still show TCR as being closed to central line trains, and some are so old they have a little logo about the 150th anniversary etc from 2013! Edit: Damn was beaten by by a few minutes

I've seen those as well, although I don't have any more info.
I've also noticed that another cheap fix that's been appearing for a while is to place white/light cream coloured large stickers to cover up the filthy pillars either side of the windows, instead of actually washing/cleaning them properly. However, some of these stickers are so poorly applied/misaligned that I feel it looks worse than if it was just left untouched.

What about the MOS? Which of the bogies has two powered axels and which only has one? I.e. is the semi powered bogie on the end of the MOS closer to the PTOS or the DMOS?

I understand that the basic configuration is DMOS-MOS-PTOS-MOS-DMOS but I seem to vaguely recall that not all the axles on the DMOS and MOS are powered, so would some be kind enough to explain.

Hi I was wondering whether or not it is a requirement for Inter Car Barriers to be present between all cars in a train or not, because as I see it there are some discrepancies.
In particular, double ended 1973 stock have the (ugly, eyesore etc) brackets fitted to the cabs to cater for the event that they end up in the middle of a train, but 1992 stock cabs do not have such brackets fitted, even though a small number do end up in the middle of trains, and the barriers between the two cars are simply not fitted.

Am I correct to assume that the network will still be called Crossrail but the individual lines will be given names. This should mean that the signs outside the stations will have Crossrail on them while the maps and the signs in the stations will have the name of the lines on them. This is what happens with the Underground I would have thought so as well but the mockups published show that the insane people running this racket have decided to use "Elizabeth Line" on roundels and stations etc, which normally only display the name of the network e.g. Underground/Overground. Perhaps the mock up artist wasn't fully briefed when he/she started his Photoshop work, although judging from some of the dodgy quality it seems that half of the work was done on Paint.

I think the mockups I linked earlier are completely incompatible with existing TFL standards. For example, roundels on trains always simply read "Underground" and never the actual line, ditto for the Overground, whereas the mockups show the rounders on trains and stations reading "Elizabeth Line".
I think the Underground, Overground and Crossrail should be kept as distinct brands, as is the case for the former two, whereas this insane decision now makes it more confusing, as it's not immediately obvious if the Lizzie line is part of crossrail or not.
