QQ. Can one route a train from Gloucester Road into the termini platforms at HSK? I’m pretty sure it is not possible.

It will certainly make things more flexible at Earls Court when the controller wants to divert a train to HSK or even Edgware Road. I should’ve clarified, all drivers are trained to High Street. And Olympia / Lillie Bridge depot?

Back on topic, there were rumours that Upminster and Barking crews were going to be trained from Earls Court to Edgware Road. There still are, the I/Os from those Depots are already trained. Possibly after CBTC has bedded in. It will certainly make things more flexible at Earls Court when the controller wants to divert a train to HSK or even Edgware Road.

On the Central West Ruislip crews weren't signed for Woodford to Hainault, that was in 62TS days, may have changed since then. Thst changed when the shuttle became a through service. It was more to do with them not being stock trained on the 1960 stock. Slightly off topic, but back in the day only Loughton crews were signed off for Epping to Ongar. Back on topic, there were rumours that Upminster and Barking crews were going to be trained from Earls Court to Edgware Road.

This suspended the service south of Victoria for several hours, running into the evening peak.
Anyone have any details as to why it took so long? Was it actually a signal failure or a problem with the points?

I doubt it it’s that. The signalling can handle the level of service. It may just be a coincidence? Will be interesting to hear if it continues though. It's entirely possible. Fewer trains in service equals increased loading on those that are running, in turn causing longer dwell times. Both Leytonstone and Stratford are significant interchanges, and being down a platform at Leytonstone also won't help matters. The OP referred to “fewer trains out of service. Which would hopefully lead to a better service and less overcrowding.

Not helped by severe delays and a part suspension on the Met which had a knock on to the H&C / Circle.

I am a creature of habit and have noticed a change in the last couple of weeks, with trains frequently held outside Leytonstone, and again between Leyton and Stratford, due to the volume of trains in the area - normally between 8.30am and 8.45am. Maybe compounded yesterday by a passenger alarm at Leyton, and today by an out of service train occupying platform 2 at Leytonstone. Could this be a sign that fewer trains are out of service during the peaks, contributing to the congestion? I doubt it it’s that. The signalling can handle the level of service. It may just be a coincidence? Will be interesting to hear if it continues though.

I've still not seen any concrete stated about what is in dispute. I've read it is not implementing a previously agreement, but what is that? That and "contempt for our members" - well how exactly? Does anyone know? Agreed. It’s all very vague, which makes gaining support from the public very difficult.

Some interesting footage here filmed as part of the Northern Line Drivers Eye video in 1999. Great sound. So much garbage on the platform though. I take it emergency egress is not provided at this location. Yep, love the sound of the 59 stock accelerating away from Angel.

Will the Cannon Street entrance and Cannon Street District / Circle starion be classed as an OSI (out of starion interchange)?

What percentage of Central line drivers belong to ASLEF? Will the RMT drivers still be working?

What do the RMT want? Usually in a strike there are demands (for a pay rise, a change of policy or whatever) to be negotiated; as far as I can tell these strikes are because the union don't like the management and I can't see what they want to do about it. I think this is the issue - most people don't really know what it's about, which doesn't really help their cause as viewed by the general public.

I'm getting an error message on that link, but unless he's made another one since the D stock ended, his "last of the D stock" video is 18 months old. Cheers NF - it was a new video which he posted on Twitter last night. However, for some reason he’s taken it down. There was a glitch in it whereby one section was repeated, so he may be fixing it.

Thanks Chris M for posting the link to the report. Although aslefshrugged makes a valid point about "luggage", the bye laws of railways are very liberally interpreted and hardly, if ever, applied in practice. Does having to put two items of luggage into a train separately automatically classes as "having too much"? Unless railway operators are going to take a stand in stopping passengers and enforcing this rule, then the argument has less weight. Isn't this drifting into speculation before the report is published? Yes, indeed it is. Blame is a fickle thing, but the RAIB report will probably focus on what systems and procedures failed so that this accident could happen. Whether they apportion any blame onto the lady remains to be seen.

But they still have a colour light? No, there are no lineside signals on the Jubilee line. Unless you count the ones that are covered over with hoods! I suppose it's not financially viable to remove them.

There’s a slight distinction though between using common sense and exercising plain stupidity! To what exactly does 'plain stupidity' refer? Standing in the doorway of an open train and leaning out. OK, the previous poster didn’t say they dd that, but you can bet others did. Is there really anything left to discuss on this? I agree a lot will be speculation, but when someone does know what has gone on, it can't be spoken about. When an RAIB investigation is taking place, we don't allow speculation as it isn't helpful and could even prejudice the investigation - we are viewed by a lot of influential people!
In this case, the RAIB report already refers to driver error, so there isn't much more to speculate on that. What we don't want is speculation on how or why the driver acted in the way that they did.
When the facts are clear, we don't have a problem with members talking about those. It's always a fine line, but in this thread things seem OK for now.
