I imagine that it must have been difficult for passengers, not knowing to which platform they should head (since the first south/north-bound train could depart from either platform). Did that also require extra staffing, or were signs considered sufficient? Hammersmith and City line is east and west.

Nothing to do with Westfield - the idea is to provide some relief to the Piccadilly line which was the only service operating yesterday from Hammersmith. It allows additional connectivity to both the Central line and London Overground. Considering how labour intensive it is, there's plenty who would prefer it to not be in place! Has each train a driver at each end ?

You're assuming only one road is in use. Yes could be a train on each road as was done on the Stanmore branch of the Jubilee line on a few weekends many years ago.

In the May edition of the Railway Magazine there is a reference to the EOR changing ownership. Does anyone have any information on this? I done a quick search on Companies house and that doesn't reveal any change of director. It does however reveal some other news that could be of some concern that things aren't quite what they could be. It's public information if anyone cares to have a look. What page of the May issue of the Railway Magazine is this reported ?

BR did not hand over the Waterloo and City line , LUL paid a pound for it, then had to spend lots of money to bring the line into being the fine line it is today 😎

The new Asset Inspection Train (AIT) was supposed to have equipment on it to work on all lines but they ran into problems with weight and so on. It got kitted out with shiny stickers and hasn't turned a wheel since. Certainly the compatibility with all the signalling systems was a point of contention when the train was placed "under review". Didn't it have more Driving Motor cars add as it was underpowered ?

I may be wrong but I think that 33 1/3 is no longer used for signal lighting . 33 1/3hz is still used its no longer used as the feed for track circuits on SSL So what is it used for ?

I thought they would have had current detection to pick up blown lamps. There will almost certainly be a 'lamp out' detector of some sort. The 'back-up' lamp is to keep the signal lit until the main lamp is changed. I hadn't realised that signal lamps were run on AC. Is that the 33 1/3-cycles supply? I may be wrong but I think that 33 1/3 is no longer used for signal lighting .

I have to admit, the information that Earl's Court Service Control Centre was being replaced by a new, computerised control centre for the Piccadilly line was news to me when I heard it on last night's "The Tube: Going Underground". Does anyone have any more details about the new Piccadilly line control centre? Also, is the District line moving out of Earl's Court right away, or will it hang around until transfer to Hammersmith SCC as the line is resignalled under the SSR resignalling? The Piccadilly line will move out of Earl's Court some time next year. District Line Controllers will move from Baker Street to the new Hammersmith SCC. District line signalling will move in stages from Earl's Court to Hammersmith . Signal Cabins at Whitechaple , Barking and Upminster will be closed as and when resignalling takes place.

What is the new layout at Harrow South? The scissor crossover south of platforms five and six has been removed and replaced by two separate crossovers slightly further south (so that they are on a straight section of line). Also gone are the movable angles on 203 points when it was part of the scissors crossover.

These staff are on the payroll and its cost will be covered whether a train is a stock move or a special tour, it's just another train, keep calm, it's not a rocket mission to Mars. Hopefully a large donation going to the LT Museum. Yes that's reason for the Farewell tour on Sunday 7 May 2017, to raise money for the Museum.

How do you know the cost will be high, what is all the money being spent on? It will need planning, Timetable Notices will need writing and distributing and things like that. It will need qualified staff to operate the train: Motormen and Operating Officials.... These staff are on the payroll and its cost will be covered whether a train is a stock move or a special tour, it's just another train, keep calm, it's not a rocket mission to Mars.

Perhaps they could have organised two, and made even more money? You're assuming it will make money. The costs of running the trip will be very high. How do you know the cost will be high, what is all the money being spent on ?
