Yes another all lines station staff strike is on the cards, Sunday 5 Feb from 18:00 until 09:59 Monday 6 Feb, Tuesday 7 Feb from 10:00 until 00:59 Wednesday 8 Feb.
If this goes ahead this will effect services all day Monday and Tuesday. I have no information about the Drivers dispute on the Central Line if this may be ongoing .

Just back from the isle today. Unit 7 was looking a bit shabby with 8 much smarter. Two units were sat outside the depot long term out of use, with two more visible inside. One of the ones visible inside appeared to be having its roof repainted. Some pictures on my Twitter feed: Thanks for the upto date photos of the trains. What does show up in the pics is the poor state of the track , bullhead rail with keys, lots of rusted out of use track etc. The contract for South West trains to run Island Line is due to run out this year ? Also the TOC is responsible for all track work ,signal maintance ,stations etc.

I have been down to Loughton station this morning off peak to see what's happening. 1. Several trains running through - I saw 3 in 10 minutes, in both directions. If they are running they should be in passenger service, no matter if irregular. 2. Buses appearing erratically at Stop A, inadequately labelled. ("Extra" does not help as a blind) No LU staff at the bus stops to help passengers. None in the ticket hall, with passengers going into the barber shop to ask advice. Probably too cold to expect any customer assistance. Not clear if Debden being served (one driver saying definitely it wasn't, as the Debden area was "gummed up"). 3. RRP buses taking unorthodox routes. One seen using Forest Rd/Earls Path in Loughton! Badly, badly done, LU! Intrigued about the trains you saw. Anybody have any information about it? Just a thought, these trains were being run empty to get stock to east end depots or sidings so that a good service can start up tomorrow , if you are short of trains in the east you move them out of service .

There was a report regarding the Vivarail trains on Midlands Today yesterday (are you following?), with mention of the fire the other week; for UK residents, the programme can be watched here - the piece starts at 3:43, and the clip is available for the next 28 days. I didn't realise that D Stocks were "Tube" trains, though... The BBC call all London Underground trains Tube Trains, the standard of reporting has sunk to the lowest ebb.

Not anything original by me but ianvisits has a recent article setting out details for a new Western entrance to be built at Stratford. It will allow faster access from the Carpenters Estate area. The new entrance will be at Jubilee Line platform level and will be created out of the LU car park area. www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/2017/01/20/new-entrance-proposed-for-stratford-tube-station/It will make Stratford the station with the most entrances / exits outside of Zone 1 on the Underground (can't think of anywhere else in Z29 that has 4 entrances). That will upset the LUL train crews who use this car park

Some poor soul managed to get a transfer from Earls Court to Barking to be closer to home even though they lived in Leyton. Happily an opportunity to move to Leytonstone arrived and they jumped at the chance. Guess where this poor soul is going? Thats right. Back to Earls Court! Auxsetreq Blog has a go at explaining the dispute, be warned his blog has some rude words.

The salt water and spay on the Ryde pier does more to rust the trains than falling leaves from the trees I thought that sea water presented the greatest risk to the longevity of the 38TS.... however I was reliably told first hand that my theory of was completely wrong !! During my visit in 2010 I wondered into down to the depot and asked if I could capture images. I was told I couldn't, however was kindly invited in. I asked if the sea water/spray caused problems and learned that it was rainwater that fell and collected underneath the doorways that presented the greatest challenge with regards to rotting and resulting constant maintenance. Must be more rain fall on the Isle of Wight these days, back in the day I remember the Southern Railways Posters etc, The Sunshine Isle

It's odd - the first thing I notice when trying to date a video is the presence (or otherwise) of yellow lines on the platforms! However did we cope without them . . . When started on the Underground in the mid 1960's station staff used whitewash the part of the platform nearest to the running line, no announcement in those day to stand behind the white Line

Has any one got photos of the 1938 stock taken on the I O W in 2016, so that we see the state of the trains compared with Chris W photos taken 2010 ?

IIRC they do, plus a ticket collector when I visited a few years back. The last I visited the Guard sold tickets on the 2 car units, may be in the summer a third member of staff on the longer trains ?

The air main will be remaining after the upgrade as some UTS gates are still air worked I.e Victoria By the time the signalling upgrade reaches Victoria, the air worked gates may have been replaced.

I believe that the point machines will be 4 foot Surelock's, these are electrict operation , replacing the air worked point motors. Weren't electric points used somewhere else at one point - Edgware Road, perhaps - but they were a pain in the proverbial because they were so much slower (though quieter) than air-worked points? The reason for replacing air worked points and train stops is to do away with the air main .

The new route from the Wimbledon e/b line to platform number 1 will not be controlled by programme machine, it will be operated by the signaller at Earl's Court in Push Button mode only.

About time the scissors crossover was put in! I'm genuinely very excited. Don't get to excited too soon, the new crossover number 23 will be not be used until after test trains have been run to check that the drivers can view the new signal etc This may not happen to mid January 2017.
