The test track used to be on the Westbound fast in the late 1980's.

Do 96ts go to Northfields? Yes they go for brake testing on the test track.

All 95TS transfers are run under normal signalling - i.e. TBTC up to up to signal L22 in the King's Cross loop, at which point tripcock mode is selected and the train is operared to conventional signalling. Any trains that transfer are refitted with tripcocks at each end prior to departing Golders Green depot. The train operates on the Piccadilly under an Incompatible Train Mivements Procedure, and must run behind the last passenger train or ahead of the first. Various other conditions also apply; this is to protect the integrity of the signalling system in the event of an incident (recognising that the signalling is not 'set up' for the 95TS, as it were). The staff in orange are unconnected to the transfer; they will be observing the passage of the last train prior to the switching off of traction current, before beginning their tasks for the night. Do the 1996TS get fitted with trip cocks if they have to go to Northfields ?

I was just about to ask about the affect on passenger services but having read the message above this message (which was written just a few minutes ago) I already have my answer ! However I am surprised that a D stock RAT cannot cover the western portion as the vast majority of it was originally built for full size trains. Simon The D stock rat is for the Metropolitan line only and is a LUL train, plus it can not be in two places at one. Tubelines wanted is own dedicated train and as the Piccadily line uses 1973 stock a decision was made to use its own stock.

Its nice to see common parts being used. I know all other Sandite trains are maintained by one team from TMU, will this be the same or will it be sorted by the depots? No not TMU they are not fitting it or looking after it I be leave it will be me to look after the train. Thanks for the photos fish 7373, amazed that it has taken such a short time to do the conversion . Will the kit be removed after the leaf fall season ends ?

Is the running of the 38 planned to be a regular (if not frequent) occurrence? Has the current overhaul been done to a higher standard than the previous ones in preservation? The LTM Friends newsletter states the recent work has been more thorough that that undertaken in 1999, welding techniques have improved. "This time repairs have made the unit fit for more robust use over then next 10 years or so. Discussions ongoing to fit on-train signalling for upcoming SSR and Piccadilly signalling systems. Running of the unit is currently secure until 2022."Let's hope the new signalling on the Piccadily line is the same as SSR as two systems will be too expensive , let alone finding the space to fit the equipment .

I presume this is industrial action by those that maintain the trains, rather than by the trains themselves... Yes staff at Cockfosters and Northfields depots are takening industrial action , Tubelines want to employ staff on a fixed two year contract . This is so trains can be lifted to sort out the issues from early this year with the flatted wheels.

The main feed to the control room was lost it was reconfigured 15 or so mins later so everything west of Tower Hill on the District and Cockfosters to South Harrow and the whole of the Heathrow branch was lost But the whole District line was suspended all the way to Upminster. What supply was lost DNO or LUL.

the existing island platform will become exclusively for westbound passengers. the disused former eastbound Circle Line platform will be recommissioned and widened to meet the existing eastbound District track. A fence division will prevent eastbound trains opening their doors towards the current platform. Unfortunately eastbound passengers changing between Piccadilly & District lines will have great difficulty in doing so at South Kensington. What's it like to change at Gloucester Road? Gloucester Road has lifts to the Piccadily line, better to change at Earls Court.

It mentions improving station capacity at South Kensington by incorporating a second platform for eastbound district/circle line, but it does not mention the westbound service. I find this a bit worrisome. Maybe I've misunderstood the existing island platform will become exclusively for westbound passengers. the disused former eastbound Circle Line platform will be recommissioned and widened to meet the existing eastbound District track. A fence division will prevent eastbound trains opening their doors towards the current platform. Unfortunately eastbound passengers changing between Piccadilly & District lines will have great difficulty in doing so at South Kensington. The Piccadilly line will be non stopping at South Kensington when the escalators to the Piccadily line are being renewed.

Initially suspended Hammersmith-Edgware Rd, then from 0830 changed to suspended Hammersmith-Ladbroke Grove. As there is no crossover at Ladbroke Grove, are trains running empty between Hammersmith to Ladbroke Grove ?
