I've seen it reported elsewhere that the derailment has caused "significant" damage to the District line track. I don't know the reliability of the source though. 100m of track, 3 sets of points and cables were damaged. Cause of derailment was track spread.

Seems like trains were only able to use platform 1 northbound at Wembley park due to an issue with platform 2. This was at around 1645 today. Anyone know what the issue is? Defective points motor. Replaced overnight.

Will the current (Sept-Oct 2017) blockade end on time or is it likely to overrun? I ask because I'm scheduled to take a group of OAPs to the Walthamstow Wetlands on 19 October and we need to use the Goblin from Barking to Blackhorse Road. We are considering postponing the trip to 26th October rather than cancel it, but my concern is bearing in mind the history of this work will the Line be reopened on time? After the first weeks work, does anyone have any idea what the situation is? Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move it for me. Ray Difficult to tell, worst case scenario you'd have the replacement bus service as a back up.

Ask to leave, if they refuse, you call the Police and let them deal with it. It's a Station, not a hostel or hotel.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you mainly based at one station? So therefore the lax attitude you describe was a local issue, rather than the generalisation you've painted?

There was a Northern line train at Tottenham Court Road yesterday that had what looked like smoke coming from it. It had the brake dust smell, but seemed much worse than usual to the point where the station tunnel was full of it. One of my fellow passengers reported it on the help point, but was told it was OK. Whether the train was checked further down the line I can't say. It should get reported to the control centre at Highgate for the train techs to look into, but sadly a lot of station staff will fob people off. It's just as frustrating for us as staff as it is for the customers. Pardon? Could you expand on that? Bit of a generalisation there. You were Station staff yourself not so long ago.

what I never understood is why the newer 2005 units use the same traction package as the original batch. Surely this was well obsolete at the time! Will the additional trains being added in the future have a different traction package? Small non standard fleet, which would result in two different maintenance regimes, fleet staff having to be trained on both fleets. Higher costs too. Best to have one fleet as standard.

There was a power outage which knocked out the signalling communications. Signal loops at Kilburn were affected, hence the area of disruption.

The issue is a cracked rail on the Northbound between Pimlico and Victoria, hence the unusual reversing arrangements. I'd guess it's located between the sidings and the Northbound platform.

Looking at the Blackhorse Road rosters, in the evening peak there are 3 staff on duty, 1 manager and 2 assistants. Most of the time it's 1 manager and one assistant, the bare legal minimum staffing level.

Yes, that's correct. Supervisor positions will be filled internally. There are a lot of CSA's currently waiting for training, having been successful in applying. Lots of rumours going around as to changes post April. But ill hold fire, as they are just rumours.

We use our staff pass, which is an oyster card variation but opens the gates as many times as you wish! Prior to the Oyster card we used to have a paper pass, like an old paper ticket but of a slightly more hardwearing material, more like card if I recall. I cant remember what it looks like. We also have a gate key on our key bunch which when inserted into the gate lock opens the gate.
We get an Oyster pass when we join the company along with a gate key when we first start work after training.

Control Desk was running with the minimum level of two staff, so it was decided for both staff to have a break at the same time. Hence the disruption.

I've seen several people stumble at the end of the moving walkways at Waterloo, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone sitting on an escalator step. It happens fairly often. Usually the younger types.
