The first unit of the current working fleet is set to be scrapped. Unit 5173, hit a tree on the uxbridge branch in may 2007, suffering front end damage. Since then, after a number of inspections, the unit has been robbed of all useful parts, ( above the solebar ) to keep other fleet units running. To describe the leading cab as gutted would be a understatement. It is currently stabled on 29 south road at neasden awaiting the cutter's torch...................

That's sad, its the beginning of the end, the same happened to the CO/CP stock and the R stock! Although the title should be altered as this is an A62 unit! When is it going?

The date depends on a number of things.
The unit is set to be scrapped at acton works, so much depends on their workload, and space available.
The unit will be scrapped in such a way to find out the value of the scrap metals, and agree a method statement for the whole fleet.

Why did you think that 5205 would go first?

12 cars of A Stock were scrapped in the period up to 1994. The original fleet was 58 x 8-car trains. It is now 56.5 trains. [wonders, how do you write "half" as a fraction]

The first unit of the current working fleet is set to be scrapped. Unit 5173, hit a tree on the uxbridge branch in may 2007, suffering front end damage. I had been secretly looking out for this DM on my occasional travels onto the Met as it was unique, its roof being slightly more dome shaped that other DM's. When rebuilt and returned to service IN 1994 a trailer's roof end had to be used/adapted as no other DM roof dome's were available (according to Brian Hardy's LU Rolling Stock edition 15 on page 41)...

Any bodyparts robbed? The end is nearing for 5172-6172-6173-5173! From here on in, it's either by road of battery loco! If you can source any pictures please post them!

I therefore presumes that it has been scotched to prevent it from moving. It'll have to scrapped on site! I suppose they have stripped the interior down a bit as well? I myself think that they could use a door motor from 5173 for 6179! I had to shove the door closed on that twice on the 19th August! I was on a day trip!
