Well I was thinking earlier one of those old ticket machines, that only do/did fixed single, travelcard etc paper tickets.
Or a toilet?
Disruption boards?

Doesnt have a Multi Fare machine, only Few Fare and a Queue-Buster? That is the answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a trick question btw! Borough is unique on LU [not just the Northern] for not having a MFM. However, as the CCE&H Railway has just celebrated its centenary, I thought it was too good to miss.

Bloody Hell!!!!
It was all that talk about Ticket Machines that gave it away! I take it that there isnt enough space for a MFM, so the QBM or the TOM takes care of any Oyster issues?
Well if you can answer a question about Latimer Road station somene else can win the book! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It was Colin D that set everyone on the track, shame I havent got a second book to spare. As to the reason why...............No idea, maybe space I suppose. I have never actually been there, will have a look down there in the next few days though. This is the thing, with the booking office closing soon, and no way to top up your Oyster............... Local newsagents will do very well!!!!!

Ah, OK. Why does it not have one of these then, especially as the ticket office is closing soon... It will probably have one of those new Oyster enabled machines (Advanced Fare Machine) I think they are called. This would replace teh Few Fare Machine.

As to the reason why...............No idea, maybe space I suppose. Does it not say in the book why? Pretty useless then... ;D Yes, newsagents will do well, between 7am - 7pm, what if you need to travel after though... I don't think TfL have thought this through well!

Well done, JoinTheDots. A frustrating but enjoyable quiz - I'd have never got it as I've never booked tickets at Borough.

Hey! Well, I'm glad we've got the answer!
Latimer Road... the only station to have had scaffolding holding it together for ten years!

Now that this quiz is over it is worth pointing out that, while a few of the suggestions were well thought out, some were such wild stabs in the dark as to be totally farcical. I mean, how could any station on the Underground survive without a kettle? Reviewing the replies, I noted one tongue-in-cheek comment that raises some rather intriguing possibilities:- im taking a long shot here! the fact its the only station between london bridge and elephant and castle! The question being, "Is it?" This of course depends on how you look at things. There is after all a junction just after Borough that curves off down the old main line to the King William Street terminus. Although there is no longer any track there and the tunnel is now partly sealed, this leads to another station 'between' Borough and London Bridge that would only be accessible by a train on the line between Elephant & Castle and London Bridge. This therefore means that Borough is not the only station between these two points. However, if you look at this as a purely geographic exercise, then you must consider King William Street to be between London Bridge and Bank - although it would never have been accessible by a train travelling between those two points.
