Are the stairs built the opposite way round to all other stations on the Northern?

In almost all of the original C&SLR stations there were no staircases down to the platforms. Instead, the running tunnels were at slightly different levels and the lifts descended to an intermediate point from which inclined passages led up or down to the platforms without any need for stairs. The exception was the Borough where the layout of the lower level subways was hurriedly modified to allow for electrical operation experiments.

Borough has only two lifts and these share the same mechanism and a single lift shaft. The others sations on the N.L. have more than 2 lifts.

One last shot, it is the only N.L. station originally built with lifts that gives step free access to the platform, all be it just the N.B.. London Bridge has a Lift direct to platform level but this was built later with J.L.E.

I hope we someone gets the answer soon!! Another stab in the dark…
Both entry and exit doors on the lift open at the same time?
…I wish I paid more attention when I used the station two years ago!

I think we really are clutching at straws in the middle of the desert!
However, we have posted a good number of answers since Lord Tubeboy last said Nay/Nope/No, so we'll keep guessing until he comes back on, which I hope won't be long now!

Station apparently used to be called "Great Dover Street", is it the only station on line not to have original name? Remembers Brent Cross used to be Brent. DOH!!!

HmmmMMMmmmmH: lifts. Yes, lifts. Do you enter and exit the lift on the same side, rather than walking through the lift? (and that's the only lifts like it on the Northern) You walk through the lift at Borough, certainly going from platform level to ticket office level, and I think the other way as well but I'm not certain of that.

Is it the only station on the Northern Line that is part of a Northern Line station group without an adjacent station managed by a Northern Line group?

Artery> for some reason you've just reminded me of the time I was buying a ticket at Borough (can't remember why) but I handed over my note obviously at just the wrong moment as a gust of air took it from the counter not far from the ticket office persons to the floor right at the back of the ticket office. Fortunately it was not a busy time of day and there was only one person behind me as he had to go and retrieve it!

I think Tubeboy, you might have to hand us the answer on a plate, or try a different slant!

I cant give any more clues, I will give it away, I have already said it doesnt concern the platforms, tunnnels etc. Not many places left, and it is a key operational oddity!
The clues are there, just think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it is a key operational oddity isn't it?
