I will just say a couple of comments in the last couple of hours have got nearer to the answer, but are still a long way away.

Has concrete roundel, is this a unique feature. Another suggestion is where the station name signs are above the entrance it doesn't give a line name, i.e Northern Line.

I know... ;D Hmm, is it the only station NOT to have one of those "help points". Or, very unlikely, but is it the only station NOT to have a aspect signal on the platform?

I would imagine there are repeaters on the platforms.

Something to do with the silver building on roof? Looks like ventilation or to do with lifts.

The answer has nothing to do with lifts!
Think of operational stuff. This station is unique for not........
May as well give it away!

being able to book tickets without enjoying the formerly art deco lifts?
You can't buy tickets without going through the lifts or walking down stairs? You can't get tickets, pass through the AFC gates without entering a lift.
I give up, as any fule kno Sigismund is a treen. chiz, chiz, chiz. ;D

The barriers are right at the front so you can’t buy a ticket without passing through them? ?

I'm just as confused as everyone else over the answer, assuming the answer doesn't have anything to do with the lifts or spiral staircase, or step free access. Has this operational oddity always been the case since the station opened?

No, as stns didnt have them when the CSLR opened.

Is it something to do with the lighting used?
Or something to do with the control room? Maybe, is it the only station without the control room at ground level? (Or has that already been mentioned?)

Not lighting, no.
Control room? Normal control room or something like a fan control room? Irrelevant, as I am not looking for that.

Right, last clue!
Its a piece of equipment, which although not essential, every station on the Northern has one, except Borough.
