I often wonder who is in charge of the video/stills library.

A few years ago on the London news was a story about a dispute on the buses. The backdrop photo was taken from Waterloo Bridge looking down on the Embankment. Pride of place in the photo was a RT on the 109s!!

"what is your conclusion Watson?" "Well Holmes, I'd say the culprit never uses public transport. Probably a member of the Langham place Lycra Gang"

There was an element of sadness throughout the day. While I was growing up, the majority of my trips somewhere using the London Underground involved using the District Line, thanks to the cross-platform interchange with the Piccadilly Line at Hammersmith. I really couldn't stand the orange and brown interior before they were refurbished, but they became quite nice after refurbishment.



My first move of the day was to go to Gunnersbury to snap it going to Richmond, the trip that was so late it was terminated at Gunnersbury, and I'd waited almost an hour on the road bridge at Wellesley Road (just south of the station) to take a shot!

Having then failed to get on both it and the following train eastbound, I went to Richmond for something to eat and then find the train going westbound again in Zone 1, as I wanted a shot of it in tunnels. Blackfriars was chosen due to being well lit. After a quick shot I boarded the first car, switching to the second at Temple as my friends were there (we'd also managed to convert our female bus enthusiast friend into a train enthusiast for the day  ). I was standing for most of the way to Richmond.

After taking photos there, I spent the first half of the eastbound journey swapping carriages every few stations (not a good idea from me  ), in order to travel in them all, and to find my friends who I'd lost track of again  . After locating them near the front of the first car, I found myself standing all the way to Upminster.

Only took a quick photo outside, to try and get a transverse seat. But my friends insisted staying in the first car and those seats were already taken (with some of them being the lucky sods   ), so I took one of the adjacent priority seats. But a lack of view outside found my getting motion sickness, so I decided to stand for the rest of the way. It got incredibly busy and as I was the wrong side of the window hopper, there was no airflow at all.

But despite all that, the atmosphere was amazing, and the day was one to remember, with many regular passengers talking about it too  . We also managed to get rare track (the siding at West Ham) .
