It is worth remembering that certainly the last "in service" date is not certain. Due to the behaviour of certain "enthusiasts" when the A Stock was being decommissioned it is quite possible that what you read on the internet to be the last service train will end up being an S Stock!
As for the tour, it's probably worth waiting until it's formally announced by LU/LT Museum before you book any travel tickets or days off work!

If it's the 7th, that's a Sunday. Pen pushers definitely don't work weekends :-)

The last train in service is a S stock every night i will have to speak to Ealing Comman depot.

No - there is engineering works affecting part of the North side of the Circle and no Met service south of Wembley Park, so it won't be physically possible to get the D stock onto that part of the railway.
However Northfields was mentioned by a senior manager today.....

Maybe a wrong signal at Hanger Lane Junction will happen on the day and the train ends up at Rayners Lane then onto the Met

Must admit I hadn't considered that routing though there is the speed restriction under each bridge for "surface stock" issue to be considered.
Whilst I haven't heard what the full official plan is, the rumour mill seems to be suggesting it'll stay strictly within the confines of its current operating area with the addition of a Northfields & back.

It wouldn't be any slower then the Picc is now

I recall the C Stock explorer travelled that bit of line without upsetting the Picc too much/at all, so who knows....

I'm going on a GWR railtour the following weekend and anyway, I rode the D Stock for years. I won't exactly miss it.

It will be via the London Transport Museum website ( www.ltmuseum.co.uk) although nothing has appeared on there yet.

I am very ill at the moment, but I hope do maybe have one more ride on the train before and/or early on the last day (as I did with the MS 61 Paris RER train) before the farewell tour, for which I will be a spectator.
The route plan (not required now) would help me plan the photo stops.
EDIT: I don't know if we expect as much press publicity as the last day of the 01 Series on the Tokyo Metro Ginza line yesterday – and that was only on the last day of regular passenger service: the farewell tour for that is tomorrow.

Not the tour, but last in-service trains. Several people became a little boisterous and the unit was also damaged/vandalised. Edit to add: This announcement was posted at the time as a direct result. It goes without saying that the same principles will be applied as the D Stock is withdrawn.

I was on the last in-service A stock to Watford and the behaviour of some of those travelling was indeed appalling. I particularly remember a couple of young men (teens/early 20s I'd guess) lying on the luggage racks for example. It was not a pleasant experience.
In contrast, the last 1967 stock to Walthamstow was a very civilised affair (at least in my experience), so bad behaviour on such trains is not inevitable.

The behaviour of passengers on the last C stock trip was also disappointing; we had spent a lot of time replaing the normal adverts with special ones only for them to be taken down on the first trip.

I was at both of those, and saw the baffoons laying on the racks. The last 1967 stock in service in June 2011 seemed OK too,

That is a pity to hear. I am surprised the individuals carrying out the behaviour were even aware it was a special service, save the posters; you'd have thought they'd have been oblivious or have little care for such an event, rather than treating it as an excuse to behave badly.
The tours themselves, of course, were civilised affairs. I sincerely hope there is a D78 tour.

In contrast, the disruptive people were people who would describe themselves as enthusiasts who were travelling because it was the last service. Unfortunately for the rest of us who use that description, their enthusiasm manifested itself as immaturity rather than respect.

Unfortunately, this is the downside of the internet, sadly I'd go as far as to say it's one of the downsides of forums - the more people turn up the more likely it is that some problem people will appear. The last 67 stock was probably the exception because it was in the middle of the evening peak and thus the train was generally very busy so there wasn't room for trouble. Contrast with the last 62 stock on the Central Line back in 1995 which was almost empty. Likewise the last 72MkI stock on the Northern, which no one even knew about at the time! I seem to remember a few issues on the most recent 38 stock visit to the Northern, mainly people trying to take pictures from places they shouldn't (e.g. off the end of platforms), although to be fair the participants on the first (public) tour were good as gold, but I had to gently speak to a couple of people on the second (staff) tour, which was a little disappointing.

I hope to film from the lineside... especially at Mansion House station where the use of cameras (by passengers) is usually frowned upon.
I'm not sure where else, I'm yet to decide!
