I'm not sure. I travelled on a D stock from South Kensington to Monument in tonight's evening peak (I didn't get the number, sorry) standing all the way. A couple of weeks back I did the same journey on an S stock. There was little difference in experience between the two, other than increased clustering around the doors on the D stock.

I saw a D Stock at Barking heading for Wimbledon last Saturday (10th December) but don't remember the number I'm afraid

I had what I think must now be a fairly rare experience at Earl's Court on Friday when I arrived, there was a D-Stock Wimbledon train present. Shortly afterwards a D-Stock tower Hill train arrived, and as the Wimbledon train pulled out, a Richmond D-Stock pulled in.

Been a bit quiet in the D stock front lately. Are all 10 survivors still in a serviceable condition? Is February 2017 a potential date for final withdrawal?

All 10 are rotated regularly even if all not in service each day. Formations have remained static recently. February is likely to be the earliest date for next withdrawal.

Been a bit quiet in the D stock front lately. Not at Earl's court last Friday. And then on the following Monday I got a D-Stock ride at Hammersmith. These above have been my first sightings for a couple of months. (Spending around 20 days in London during that time.) I did think seeing three at once was pretty anomalous.

I went on Car Number 7502 just before Lunchtime today from Cannon Street to Embankment, Co-incidentally it was numbered Ten Below the car I travelled on earlier this Month! (7512-Sat-03-Dec). The trip even cost LESS than what I would have paid in 1980, as it was FREE courtesy of my new ITSO Key Smartcard, which allows complimentary travel on the Underground Trains between Charing Cross and Cannon Street and Waterloo stations, at nil extra cost compared to a traditional rail season ticket to London Terminals only.

Thinking about it, the D-Stock, and the 1995/1996 trains too, had their Passenger Door Opening (PDO) buttons sealed up on refurbishment, but PDO is back on the new S-Stock trains, and as I am led to believe, the Crossrail Class 345 will also have PDO facilities! It seems to be a Yo-Yo mode that TFL and their predecessors LRT, LT and LPTB have, in rolling out PDO and subsequently removing it, Remember the 1938 stock and CO/CP stock all had PDO when new, but was subsequently abandoned upon a subsequent refurbishment?

Technology advances and the controls are more reliable. Failures in the past would lead to trains going out of service. Now the position of a door not closing can be located from the cab.

No D's out on Thursday 29th December. Thought that one may have sneaked out on the Ealing - Acton shuttle, but the D's looked nice and snug in the shed in Ealing Common depot!

3 back out today (so far at 0920):
T4 7034+7513 Rmd-Upm (Saturday & Sunday) T14 7018+7007 Rmd-Upm (Saturday & Sunday) T60 7526+7037 Wim-THill (Saturday and until 0600 Sunday)
T4 and T14 continue running until Sunday night, T60 until 0600 Sunday, so Ds will see in 2017.

There were still only the three D stocks by late afternoon. Not sure if any of the four evening Upminster starters were D's. 7018 had bad flats! Was that the best unit they could find?

S stock is not really a yo-yo on the Passenger Open. Although the trains do have a Passenger Open mode, not actually used, the Passenger Open buttons' are also needed so passengers can open doors after the Autoclose feature has operated which is 45 seconds after the doors open. This is to help make the HVAC less wasteful of energy. This matches every virtually other modern suburban train in the UK... Back to the D78 thread, I understand there's another train going very soon now.

A New Year Joke - In the olden days every train on the mainline (and even the Met Line) had PDO - Passenger Door Open facilities - It was called Slam Door Rolling Stock, and was the predecessor to the sliding door stock of modern times. Southeastern were running them until about 2005!
