I had a ride on the infamous 5555, and it certainly had seen better days. There was an alarming smell coming from underneath the carriage, almost like burning. Also one of the interconnecting doors looked like it was ripped straight out of an unrefurbished train. I'm surprised that it's still in service, let alone that it got past early 2013, seeing as all it offers is inflexibility on account of its TBC problems.

So last normal day of C stock on H&C / Circle, but it's clear that it's not official yet, otherwise TFL would be blowing their own trumpet by now. Today's last run of T246 is definitely not the end - yet! I suspect that the aim will be to keep those lines all S stock from now on. I wonder if they'll wait for the Edgware Road - Wimbledon service to go all S stock before they officially announce that the H&C / Circle are all S stock? As well as this, there are trains that run in service from Hammersmith to Edgware Road before becoming District line services to Wimbledon. These will be C stock for a while yet, so anyone who wants to ride a C stock on that section can still do so, albeit at the start and end of the traffic day. This is the wording of the staff notice issued: "Last week of timetabled ‘C stock’ in service on the Circle, Hammersmith & City lines. After over 40 years of providing Londoners a service, Monday 10th February 2014 will see the last C stock trains run in timetabled operation on both the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. Although C stock trains will continue to be timetabled on the Wimbledon to Edgware Road branch of the District line for a few more months, unless a C stock train has to be offered up for service by Hammersmith depot, or because of emergency service reformations, no more C stock trains should be seen in passenger service east of Edgware Road or Gloucester Road. Full details of the final S stock deliveries and C stock transfers, that enable this planned timetabled change to occur, are detailed in Traffic Circular 4 and on Timetable Notice 72/14." Picture removed for ease of posting. Also the driver of H&C 246 was the line's longest serving specifically asked to perform the final honours. There are now no more Timetabled H&C or Circle workings, however that is not to say one may not sneak out if there is a shortage of serviceable S stock (plus farewell tours). There are the District stock transfers for maintenance at Hammersmith of course. That said it was a shortage of C stocks that resulted in District 74 being worked by an S on Saturday. it has been suggested that Circle 217 was a C Stock early Monday morning (started Lillie Bridge), but we await someone replaying the internal tracker system to see if it really was and if so what it did!

Why so long to get rid of the last of the C's? Is it because of lack of S stock? (surely not, they are currently being delivers at a rate of 1 per week by the looks of it) Or do they want to get started on the District as a priority?

I suspect it's down to how long it will take to get enough District line T/OP's trained on the S stocks. Precisely ! Earls Court are 98% complete for the first 4 trains. Acton Town will only start from 23 February for the other 4 from May/June.

So will they start rolling out S stock on the 'main' District in the meantime?

I think there is an error on the withdraw list, it says 23 C69 units remain but I can count 27 with the ---- under the date withdrawn column.

Why is that line called the wimbleware line Edgware Road to Wimbledon line where the C69\C77 were there are still running around its not a bad name for it. We are going have to stop saying that soon when they scrap all the old C69\C77 stock trains but for now it is a good name for that line as long as the old stock is still running around on that line.

So will they start rolling out S stock on the 'main' District in the meantime? No! Just the existing training trains will work the main section (Barking - Olympia (some trips may now divert to Wimbledon)). The full route is not yet available to S stock. In addition other than some Instructors, Acton, Upminster and Barking drivers are not yet qualified to drive S stock, nor are all Earls Court drivers. The replacement of D stock is going to be some way off yet!

Hi Lads Could anybody tell what is happening with that C stock what failed at parsons Green station on Sunday are there still there or are there gone back to Hammersmith depot I thought it failed Saturday, unless there has been another one, but Saturday's failure is back in traffic - rode on it (5538) earlier today.

There are 3 'C' Stock trains in a line in the Klondyke Sidings at Neasden Depot this morning. The north most train is 5501+5XXX+5543. The second Unit was so badly covered in grafitti I couldn't see a number but presumably is 5709? The second train is 5586+5553+5534. The third train is 5XXX+5547+5707. Sorry, the third train caught me somewhat unexpected and although I scribbled down a Unit number, a check against the withdrawn thread indicates it can't be right. May be its 5703 - I can check later?
5511 was still at Northwood earlier but will presumably be gone by lunchtime with the first of the above trains arriving early afternoon?

Which was the unit that had strange brown-streaked graffiti all over the inside of the doors? It almost looked as if someone had been through with a bottle of vinegar instead of paint. I remember seeing it on several different occasions, so it can't have been easy to remove.

217 was S7 at SOT. But I did not track it further if it were reformed.
215 at SOT was 5516 east end, 5712 west end, at least to Aldgate, did not track further.

There were 2 c stock stabled at parsons green today, where these replaced in their duty by s stock, or because of issues with them. One had number 101 on the front, which is a mainline district service if I'm correct

Is it not 5501 (north) 5709 (middle) and 5543 (south) ? Yes when I passed the site at 1030. 5709 and 6709 are in a dreadful state.

Any clues as to where 5501, 5709 and 5543 are headed? Rotherham or Eastleigh?

5543 was disposed of Thurs, 5709 today. Both 5501 and 5709 were targeted by graffiti artists (5709 again) last night as was one of the C Stock trains stabled in the Klondyke Sidings at Neasden. Clearly the Klondyke Sidings is not a secure location to leave trains overnight as trains continue to get targeted in there from time to time on the few occasions rolling stock is stabled there.
