I may live nearly 200 miles away from the carnage nowadays but definitely detect an air of celebration at the final demise of "the devil's coaches". A friend up here has organised bunting and a street party along with a wicker man filled with effigies of C Stock.
Of course THE major benefit of this situation is the disappearance of in-car maps showing a small portion of the District Line as a separate entity, thus giving rise to the ghastly sobriquet so often popular in these parts.
The District Line, in reality and diagrammatically, will become whole again so when travelling from Edgware Road to Wimbledon in future we'll all be able to say "I caught the District Line" like everyone else does with absolutely no need to use "the other phrase"........

Yes, can now refer to either the Wimbledon branch or Edgware Road branch like one would for any other line.
Anyway, dragging back on topic, will be glad to see the last of the C on the northside Circle, as will most pax, as it gets rid of the scrum to get on the last car westbound. For some reason with 'long' trains pax are able to spread themselves out nicely, without a ruck to board.

5565+5570+5598 ARE working T246 Barking-Hammersmith and have just (1017) departed Barking. This is the last timetabled H&C working.

Why the last working - was this to get it in the right place for disposal for scrapping?

Why the last working - was this to get it in the right place for disposal for scrapping? T246 starts from Barking Sidings mid morning. It is due to stable in Lillie Brudge depot late tonight. They may leave it as C stock all day, stable at Lillie Bridge then use it on the District. Or they may change it over for an S stock when it gets to Hammersmith. I still don't think that this will be the last H&C / Circle line regular service train to be worked by C stock. One may creep out, and of course there will be an official last run in passenger service.

So I go out in pursuit of a C Stock on the Hammersmith line only to see T246 pass me by at Wood Lane (much to my dismay), then I said to myself "I know I'll try the Wimbleware," can you believe my dismay when it was an S Stock with District Line on the front of it? So I'm waiting patiently for a C Stock Edgware Road

T246 was changed over on arrival at Hammersmith and did just the one run.
T211 (meant to be the last Circle working) was an S stock to complete the picture. At least one S stock on Edgware Road-Wimbledons.
I guess that's it! (Until the farewell tour - I can't see any creeping out on service except for the Districts?)

If it had said "Wimbleware" on the front of that S Stock I'd be up on multiple murder charges. The ones I've seen don't - maybe that name can finally die! The need for some way of distinguishing the two operationally seprate District services may diminish, but it still seems inconsistent that all surface services through Earls Court are considered to be one "line", whilst those through Baker Street are considered as three separate lines. Sooner or later they will also have to bite the bullet on the DLR and the Overground as well - both are increasingly complex networks, and having them all the same colour for "branding" purposes is getting incresaingly silly: if Overground is all orange, why not show all Tube lines in blue? All bus routes on the "spider maps" in red? When it was launched the DLR distinguished its two routes by colour: why do they not see the need to do this now there are six?

Hi John, There was at least one one S7 on the Wimbleware (I won't cease saying that (just to irritate whistlekiller)) and I unfortunately had to spend about 10 minutes to wait for the S7 concerned to eff off, then finally a C Stock train came. I'm sure DStock7080 would probably hold more info.

Is it planned for both of these to be S stock from the start of traffic tomorrow, or will it be back to just one?

Is there even enough unique colours for each Overground / DLR service? (ten? unique services combined) I propose leaving the DLR (for now) since the network is pretty self contained and well connected to each-other (think Poplar, Stratford, Canning Town etc.). For the Overground, I would give each Overground Line their own unique Line Number, and for the number to be indicated on the map in the white space between the orange bars... so ELL (includes the 4 southern branches) would be known as Overground Line 1, NLL as Overground Line 2, WLL as Ovg. Line 3, GOBLIN as Line 4 and Wat DC as 5...(and the new Lea Valley Lines as 6, 7 and 8). That should clear things matters up a bit more, rather having a salad bowl of different line colours I would imagine. Since, the whole thing is fairly new, line numbers would be relatively easy to pick up, market and diffuse to the general public.

Making it simpler by giving it a number system identical to the existing Travelcard zones, but for utterly different locations? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Anyway, what exactly does any of this have to do with C-stock withdrawls?

Nothing, sorry did veer off-topic. (incidentally, I would overhaul the entire zonal system too, but that's another discussion)

I read somewhere that 5538, 5520, & 5720 failed at Parsons green on Sunday, so I'm guessing that these will be amongst the next to go, but how would they move them to Hammersmith or even Northwood. Wait for another disgraces formation and then run a 12 car (or even 8 car with a bit of shunting) because at this point they probably won't want to bother with repairing it to run it.

So last normal day of C stock on H&C / Circle, but it's clear that it's not official yet, otherwise TFL would be blowing their own trumpet by now. Today's last run of T246 is definitely not the end - yet!
I suspect that the aim will be to keep those lines all S stock from now on.
I wonder if they'll wait for the Edgware Road - Wimbledon service to go all S stock before they officially announce that the H&C / Circle are all S stock? As well as this, there are trains that run in service from Hammersmith to Edgware Road before becoming District line services to Wimbledon. These will be C stock for a while yet, so anyone who wants to ride a C stock on that section can still do so, albeit at the start and end of the traffic day.
