The crests on the front M door glass was added about 4 or 5 years ago. The crests next to the drivers side door (only on one side) have always been there I think.

It seems that they were added before the car numbers on the cab ends were changed from white to blue, but they were not added when they were refurbished. At the end of this video on YouTube of A stock being refurbished, you can see 5101 running (as the RAT) without the crest. Only a few DMs had the crest in the M door window, including 5104, 5105, 5108, 5109, 5118, 5119, 5232 and 5233.

Sad day. All the A62 units have gone Yes they are, I was hoping for 5188 to be on Wednesdays train with 5118 as they were the pair that wernt dolled up, and 5034 and 5062 were already said to be on the tour. But in the end 5034 and 5062 were used on both!

If so, It was quite fitting that it operated the last too!

I was hoping for 5034+5189. I understand that 5189+5118 needed exams so they were withdrawn (fair enough!)

So the LT Museum are getting an A60 cars, all the departmental survivors are A60. Can I suggest that if anyone on here is connected to the LTM, efforts are made NOW to gather the unique A62 components (esp compressors) so that this technology is preserved. would only be one pallet worth I guess.

Actually 6132 is an A62 car. The Reavell compressors it uses are found all over the system on other stocks.

Who else noticed that 5034 in its dolled up form on Saturday had a 1962 tread plate on the second set of doors on the left hand side?

What the? I've been away from this board for too long (cause I work 12 hour days these days). Was hoping to go back to England soon with my son and show him the A stock, guess I will only get to see then in a museum now

Or wait for the RAT to come out this month and find one on the northern part of the line. 5034 has a 1962 plate?

I always felt I had little connection with them, being a 'DR' man, but on reflection: •I was shown over an A Stock at Neasden by a T/I as part of the Guard's course at the RTC.
•The first train I ever drove during Guard's job-training was a 4-car A Stock on the ELL.
•My Guard's road-test was by a Met A/M and included working an 8-car A Stock from Baker Street to Liverpool Street and a 4-car A Stock from Whitechapel to Surrey Docks.
•I worked A Stock on the ELL as a Guard at Barking (Met) and we also had one duty doing Baker Street S/B to Baker Street N/B via Aldgate on an Amersham train.
•When I was DTM in charge of Canal Junction cabin I would ride there and back on A Stock.
•At Neasden TMR our entire Met service was A Stock and I saw the refurbished units arrive hauled by Class 37's and the same loco taking the 'silver' ones away to be done.
•I also rode on an A Stock when it worked back from Upminster depot in (cancelled) engineering hours after it had work done on the wheel-lathe and must be the only person to ever exit an A Stock at Mile End station!
Not bad for little connection!

As the remain A Stock are RATs maybe the S stock should be known as SKUNK's - however we need would need the acronym to mean something - any suggestions?

Indeed, ran as 717 earlier on. Info above spot on, up to Watford Pfm2 (it came up at the same time the second train stabled on 24 road), round to Rickmansworth Pfm 2 and then via SB main line onto Harrow. The old girl strikes again ;D

5063/5034 approaches Harrow on the Hill in the rain today. Last time we'll see an 8 car A stock train I guess. It's crossing to go through platform 4 to pass a Watford train. Clicky for piccy<<Rincew1nd - edit: Image changed to link, as per forum rule >>The RAT passed through Northwood going south about 10/15 mins before 5063/5034 arrived to go into the siding. There are still a number of cars of 1983 Jubilee Line stock parked in South Harrow sidings which have been there more years than I can remember. Left there after an abortive attempt to use them on an Acton to Uxbridge shuttle and are probably now welded to the rails. Sad to think there will soon be more of them left than A stock cars.

There are 3x3-car units of 1983 Stock at South Harrow.
There will be 2x5-car RATs plus the 4-car 'body spare', making 14 in all.
I have excluded the A Stock car at the LTM Acton (which should be there by now, or if not very soon) and the 1983 Stock car at the same.
Apart from early-morning and late night journeys with normal stock, I don't recall any (abortive) attempts to run an Acton Town - Uxbridge shuttle with 1983 Stock, although I think there were discussions about doing so .....
EDIT 16.56 - 5034 arrived at Acton some time between 16.30 and 16.50 so I am told. "Journeysend".

Yup, 5034 (ex 5008) is officially preserved as a static display, which isn't bad at all. Actually, I was a bit surprised that 5034 was going to make it because the front was white in 2010. Did the film for the front get replaced by a fresh respray?

Yep. The bad bits (or unit?) was re-filmed for the last day and tour. And very nice it looked too.

I hadn't realised they were keeping that many.
I suppose it got a bit further than a discussion since several 1983 stock were parked at South Harrow for a while. Some went for scrap some time ago but I wonder what they will do with the 9 cars left.

Scrap them when they need the space. Until then they will linger on.... We 'may' see an 8 car A stock if the two RAT trains are ever used on Summer tours.

Did it go by road? It was at the southern end of the train when it arrived at Northwood so couldn't have got out of the siding without some shunting back on to the running lines.
My wife took my daughter to Northwood this evening to see the "last train" and there was a car badly damaged in the car park. Don't know if that was something to do with the "movements" going on there.
