What time will the lorries arrive at Neasden depot? It may be a good opportunity to try and take photos of the trailer ends if they would let me... and if it is safe to do so!

I hope they're still there later in the day, I'm not gonna have an opportunity to get to Northwood until about 6:30pm

Time to goodbye! Currently in Neasden yard, it's down for the scrap move on thursday..! Thought I would start a new thread, instead of burying the bad news inside 15 pages, of at times complete rubbish. ;D

Do you know how long it will take to be put on the low loader? Just wondering if it would be worth going after school

What is coupled with 5006-5007? Or is it just the 4 cars that are going?

Two cars being loaded per day, and yes it will be a train leaving. The other unit is being debated right now...

Have the faulty trains lately been A stock? As I type the met line is part suspended Ruislip-Uxbridge because of a faulty train, and Aldgate-Neasden because of another faulty train.

Maybe it was the next needing overhaul - ie it had it a long time ago, or it had some faults...

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

Returning to the title of this thread, " the end is nigh " when do people really think we will witness the A stock in normal service for the last time? the met is now only getting 40 s stock, because uncle wants Some S7s out for London 2012. Some A stock will run late 2012, and quite likely a bit further. There may be a break in the S8 delivery to supply some S7 units but the Met will get a full compliment of S8 trains.

I don't know if anyone remembers this, in 2004 Metrodebt said that they'd recycle the seat covers once they were done with them - is this still in force or did TfL decide to discontinue this?

Do we mean the existing design, or the first one (that was fitted on refurbishment?). Certainly the IoW has some of the first refurb seating moquette, although whether this was new or re-cycled I don't know.
** Off to files to find out when this was done on the IoW**

Thank you to deadmans and prjb concerning the information about 5006 and 5179 forming tomorrow's 'scrap' working from Neasden to Northwood. 5006 was stopped about 10 days ago I believe and as for 5179, was still in service yesterday and quite possibly today?

Poor things. I shall be at Northwood tommorw noon to film/photograph the trains. It truely is a sad day when two decent units are withdrawn like this. Is the train coming in on the local lines and reversing or running to Ricky fast and reversing and coming back to Northwood via the local line?

The seating moquette on the 1938 Tube Stock on The IoW was changed between January 2003 and June 2005, using LU's A Stock moquette as used whyen they were first refurbished - i.e. not the current A Stock moquette.
Unless anything goes adrift, the train will come direct from Neasden to Northwood NB platform, then back into the siding. And that's it ...... RIP

I shall be there with a camera and a few tears. Was at Northwood an hour ago. To those that deal with these things, unit 5104-6104-6105-5105 has low sleet brushes. The driver an I decided this was the problem when we got to Harrow!!

5007 was involved in a serious electrical failure last Thursday evening at Aldgate. The nature of the problem meant that it pushed in front of one of the booked units that was to be scrapped this week.
