Thanks, I remember reading something about small blue lights on some stocks. How many units on the Bakerloo are fitted with this kit?

I tried a quick search so sorry if this has come up before. I noticed a blue spot next to the number on a trailer car the other day. So questions: what does this signify and how many cars have this? I think it was the third car counting from the south end.

The Mansion House example was still in situ recently when I passed through.

insert code here It would be great to have a steam run up to Quainton Road from Baker Street at some point. Or even Rickmansworth if the other was too ambitious.

Victoria Line. The friend who makes things happen. Could do with relaxing a bit, but reliable as they come.

Modern Railways are suggesting the Bakerloo will have it's trains refurbished to last into the 2030s. They will be rather elderly by then. What would need doing to get them to last out so long? Where are they likely to be sent for the work?

Can we really expect the public to look at the signal class 413? They will not know a signal from their armpit even if they could see it from the back of the train. The answer is to travel away from the end car then walk to your preferred door before arriving at your destination. I agree that the doors are loud and the eeeaawing bleepers can get irritating.

Very interesting. I wonder how they would have dealt with the Uxb High St situation. Although passenger traffic ceased in 1939 there was an oil depot on the branch and some sidings in use until about 1964 in believe. Also the RAF base at West Ruislip still had sidings in use in the 40's.

Supposedly it was the creation of the green belt that put paid to the line going any further though I expect cost played a part. Harefield would be fairly straightforward to reach but crossing the canal and river to Denham would have been costly. Then there would have been the issue that the existing Denham station is high up on an embankment supported by steel piles down to ground level. A couple of years ago the down platform was demolished as the embankment was slipping away and you could see the bottom of the building from below. Perhaps the LT station could have been on a lower level as it was to be the end of the line.

Did the proposed central line western terminus ever get as far as being designed in detail? I would be interested to know any details such as the proposed station design and track plans.

At Picc Circus they reverse escalators at about 10:45 weekdays. Before that both on the Bakerloo side go up then the right hand one is changed to down. This catches some people unawares, several times I have seen daydreamers about to get on as I was going up. I assume the Picc side is changed as well, there must be a sound reason for this practice. It is easy to exit there but often a struggle to get to the barriers to enter due to the wads of tourists mainly plus having to get past pax exiting on either side.

Lavatories on District trains of old makes a certain amount of sense. I know they ran to Slough at one time, not sure what the longest run was.

Add jerking to a halt when there is drizzle, which I suffered last weekend in the Perivale area. Also stopping short and having to be moved forward half a car length due to the same at North Acton. The train op apologised and said it was the damp rail conditions. Never had it as bad as that on any other line.

About twenty or so years ago I recall seing LU stock being hauled through Slough heading west. I assume these were off for refurbishment somewhere. A train ran at the same time each week for some time. I think it was about 1990. Which stock type was this and where was it going? The trains I saw were on a Sunday morning though there could have been others at different times.

Which reminds me of when a rather naive colleague had to attend a meeting in Edgware once. He arrived at Paddington and changed onto the circle and disembarked at Edgware Rd, hailed a taxi and asked for an address in the High Street. His boss was not too happy about the resultant expenses claim.

Admittedly it is not wise to change there for the H&C station but I don't think the name needs changing. It could be called Paddington Green I suppose.

Maybe I'm being a bit dim here but what is the pile of muck under the bridge about? How does that prevent damage to a road surface?

I often travel in the UNDM as it stops in the right place for Picc Circus, so I notice if it is the "odd" train. Has there been some change then to the three car part of the formation? Or is this a different train being talked about?

There was a BR driver in the seventies who was well known for blasting "On Ilkley Moor Bah Tat" on his bog unit horns. Heard it on the Reading - Basingstoke line once.

Bear in mind that Chiltern stock is not all the same size. 165s are built to "GWR" gauge and the 168s and 172s are of a "normal" size, width wise that is. There are also the class 67s and mark 3s. Which does not cover up the fact that I don't know if any of it fits at Baker St.
