I've noticed a few parts of ex 67stock appearing in a few vehicles. I assume this been added from a store of parts ad hoc rather than as part of the refurbishment process. I'm referring to blue handrails mainly. Were the handrails 67 stock blue by any chance? Have seen an odd blue air vent opener. Indeed, some handrails are "Vic Line blue". One I was looking at last week appeared to be new/unused so perhaps a stock of spares was passed to the Bakerloo from Northumberland Park stores when the 67s were withdrawn.

A pity it is being referred to as a "tube train", but then the general public will not know any different.

I always give, being a 'there but for the grace of God' sort of person, despite being an agnostic!! Mind you, being a smoker & therefore making a bee-line for off-station smoking areas, requests are usually for a fag only & the price of a cuppa sometimes-I usually give £2, as they are a coin that gets on my wick-being neither one thing nor the other. That's up to you of course, but there's every chance some of the beggars have more money than you. And some of the "homeless" live in a better house than a lot of other people. I was in Marks & Spencer in Gerrards Cross when several of the local Big Issue sellers parked their new 4WD outside and came in to buy food on their way to a wedding. They were all dressed far better than most of the locals with gold necklaces, fur collared coats and expensive boots etc.

From the document linked by snoggle: Replacement of Reavell Conversion (modification) with the common Westinghouse version. 5 cars out of 108 are fitted with a different compressor. Standardise the fleet for future maintenance.
How did it come about that five cars had a different sort of compressor?

At the south end was one of the red DB-branded locos, I think. This may well have been 66001, as it was at Marylebone yesterday with the railhead treatment train.

I had already passed through West Hampstead but had to go back there to change to the Jubilee. I would be interested to know who's train had failed as in the old days LT and BR used to blame each other for any delays. Bakerloo operators would say delays were down to BR signalling and the BR drivers said delays were because of late running Bakerloo services. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? However this practice seems to have ceased. Once, we had to start against a red light at Willesden. The driver went into detail about how there would be a huge bang and the train would screech to a halt to be followed by grinding along at a snails pace for some distance.

I was caught up at Willesden Junc yesterday. Apparently a train had failed in the area. There was no service in either direction at about 2pm. Anyone know the details?

The Bakerloo still has Great Central in the tiling at Marylebone. I don't think those are the original tiles at Marylebone. I think "Great Central" was applied to the northbound platform wall fairly recently. I like the "secret stairs" that lead off from Marylebone, you can peer through the mesh next to a wooden door and see them. They are used for storage now I believe but once had something to do with the old station I expect.

If only they would fit armrests and "dangly knobs", then it would be real retroland down the B'loo.

The thing that annoys me with the Bakerloo DVA is when you arrive at Regent's Park: "alight here for ZSL - Lun dun Zooo". The last part being delivered in a patronising tone suggesting that only an idiot would not know who or what ZSL was.

Any new seat covers on the horizon? At least you still get a bit of spring in the 72 seating unlike the more modern types.

The late eighties was quite an interesting time on the Bakerloo with stocks coming and going and mixed fleets in operation. That's how I remember it anyway.

A good move by TfL. This should further relieve the Bakerloo and H&C at Paddington.

[quote source="/post/381626/thread" Watford Met was built for electric unit working from the outset, so there was no easy way of running round the train there, or of turning the loco. The account I found on Google suggested the stray was reversed (possibly with another loco at the country end of the train?) back to Rickmansworth for another go. Yes that was the account I had heard about. No point in running round at Watford Met as the loco would have been the wrong way round.

Have read elsewhere that a southbound Master Cutler was once sent towards Watford Met by mistake. Any truth in this?

I saw the Cravens train at Temple on Tuesday. How much of the system does this train cover and how much use does it get in an average year?
