"Cause and effect"
Perhaps the Victoria Line is the reason house prices increased and thus the population changed Quite common now for local children no longer to be able to afford to buy in the locality they grew up in. Not just a London problem.

To be honest, I am fed up with somebody trying to promote a railway to Yeading (get a 140 bus to Hayes or Northolt) on what should in theory be a serious board There is NO case for ANY railway to go to Yeading at ANY time. There are so many things that money needs to be spent on, nationally. A railway to Yeading wouldn't be on the top 1000 What has this to do with new tube stock for London? Perhaps it's the heat, but my tolerance threshold has lowered. IF I see "Yeading" again, other than as total fantasy, I think it is time to say "Goodbye"

Both on Southern: "London Road"
Became L.R. Brighton and L.R. Guildford
and of course, "Waterloo" is part of the Merseyrail network, the southern version now being known as "London Waterloo"

I was on a Picc train on Saturday afternoon It was stuffed full of sweating tourists and they were not enjoying the journey Some were looking to see if the windows could open On the way back in the evening it was much worse. There were announcements from the cab about delays, but "no further information is available" If animals had been put in that situation, there could easily have been a prosecution to follow. It was awful. Eventually we got to Barons Court and caught a District. WHAT a difference!!! At Turnham Green, the next Picc went past which was a Heathrow service. I do wish "Health & Safety" could have video'd it as it went past. I don't think it could have carried any more. Whatever was responsible for the delays?? Whoever thought that windows that do not open, on a train that could get stuck in a tunnel in August was a good idea??

Thank you, Tom, Administrator
So, "Paddington Wimbleware" refers to two surface platforms at Paddington. Crazy.
Telepathy is a skill I have not developed.

As soon as I see a post with any of the words "just", "simply" and "easily" in front of any 'proposal' I know that it hasn't been properly thought through.

When trains had windows that could be opened, they didn't need to carry energy gobbling air conditioning
The irony!!
Thus it added to the problem it is allegedly designed to help solve
I was on a bus in Sussex on Saturday, and there was a notice on two of the windows "These windows are permanently open for the comfort of passengers"

When people state as fact "What Harlow Council want"........
.........Please provide evidence to back that statement up.
Have Harlow Council offered to pay for it. Yes or No? If "No", who is supposed to pay for this thing that "Harlow Council want"?
Don't even think of suggesting T f L will/should pay.

I have given my post of yesterday some more thought
The guy of 40(ish) who got through the barrier at Holborn with a Child's ticket will not count as an evader. He will count as a child paying the proper fare. SO, this skews the statistics because it adds to the stats of people who have paid thus increasing the percentages, and reduces that stats of actual 'evaders'. BUT, he's only evaded PART of the appropriate fare. AND, I am sure he is not unique. I feel a useful exercise would be to monitor the number of children going through the barrier at a station such as Holborn on CCTV, then see how many "child" entrances there have been recorded at the gates I KNOW it will not be accurate BUT, at the moment, stats are skewed by people using other people's "Freedom" passes OR Childrens tickets. SO, the statistics we have seen are flawed, but they're the best we can get.
Personally, I think that's the area for further research, not vaulters.

Dstock7080 is exactly right with that colour photo
ALSO there were on the Eastbound at Earls Court as around 1960, similar signs were up for "Not stopping at Gloucester Road and South Kensington"

Interesting stats from aslefshrugged about fare evaders
I followed a guy though the barrier at Holborn. He must have been aged about 40-45 As he went through, "CHILD" flashed up on the screen. Would this be included as an evader in those statistics?

To Ongar > NO!! To North Weald? > There's a question that was originally asked 50 or 60 years ago as the M11** was being discussed
**M11 was originally in Gov't files at the "London to Immingham trunk route"
BUT > As North Weald is not in London, WHY should TfLONDON want to spend any money on this?

I left Greenford in 1978 I seem to remember it new then. And people complaining, alleging they missed a connection because of it. But, life's too short and I don't care. Currently, there are more important things to focus on. There is/was a photo on the Greenford/Northolt/Ealing Facebook sites, and if I can find it, I'll post it, but until then, I have more important things to do such as driving from Worthing to Shrewsbury tomorrow and not getting back until next Saturday

Well, aslefshrugged, then it's even a bigger waste if one was put up and then later removed It was only ever on one side and l haven't been there for nigh on 30 years. But it was put up for a reason. Don't know when. Love to know when/why it was taken down.

The Greenford branch used slam door Class 121 bubble cars for many years from 1958, and slam door steam hauled carriages before that. There was NEVER any problem Then, somebody found a way of spending money and proclaimed that a fence should be built on one side. Waste of money, time, resources, (intelligence), etc,

So not a loop as in Hainault loop or Heathrow loop
You are referring to what were known as Hanwell sidings

What does "West Ealing Loop" mean above please?
There is no "loop" at West Ealing, but there is a triangular junction.
I'm confused

l have said on these boards many times before:
Overseas, planners find reasons to do things and how to do them In the UK they find reasons not to do things, and how to prevent them happening.
Classic example is the refusal around 1970 to even look at re-opening the WLL, after all, it had failed 60 years earlier through lack of patronage (in those days west London ended at Earls Court), but it was still the lame excuse. The easy option.

I've lost interest already.
Should have stuck to the name "Crossrail" and do away with the fawning and simpering
It'll need to be called the "Charlie Line" or the "William Line" when it's ready to open

You can easily tell this is an old map (pre 1916) because it's paper pasted on a linen backing for easy folding, but with manuscript annotations in ink (one is dated 1924)

Location A is known locally as the "Iron Bridge", bang on the Hanwell/Southall border, opposite the site of the AEC factory where the RTs and Routemasters were built

The local council will have some say as to what happens on the site.
For some councils, "affordable housing" seems to mean houses under £1,000,000

Poplar was once in Middlesex, but boundaries were redrawn many decades ago so that there was no longer any Middlesex reaching the River Lea.
Tottenham and Enfield and I believe possibly Potters Bar were all in Middlesex 200 years ago. (clearly on Gray's 1824 map)

Well, On Saturday I saw what was a 'first' for me. lt proves the dangers inherent with e-scooters You can't use a mobile phone and drive a car, but on Saturday, in Littlehampton, someone drove through the pedestrian precinct on an e-scooter, steering with one hand and texting (or dialling a number) with the other. Of course, his eyes were on the phone with only occasional glances at the pedestrians. Only a minute or so earlier, I had seen a woman with a guide dog. Fortunately they were heading in opposite directions away from each other.
It's not only batteries that are dangerous. People these days seem to be more irresponsible than in earlier years. People are dangerous too.
