18 months on from the change to the Circle line and the "extension" to Hammersmith, is it viewed as a success by LU employees?

Good to hear! The rate of S Stock introduction and A stock withdrawal has been very disappointing in recent months.

What about the regenerative braking?

When will the regen breaking be switched on?

Have claimed for a refund from TfL for the delay outside Vauxhall - so may have got paid for the trip too! Depends which delay it was - if it was on the earlier trip this was due to a defective 09 stock, but I think the one that caused the longer delay was due to a passenger incident also at Vauxhall. In theory you aren't entitled to a refund for that -- and in any case without having counted, I don't think it was as long as 15 mins. The cumulative delays getting from Victroria to Brixton on the last SS-Brixton trip were definitely more than 15 minutes. The last train left Brixton about 1918 and it was meant to leave at 1901.

Was on the last train - ironic that it got delayed by a faulty '09!

What is being done during the full line closure this weekend? With the last 67 finally gone, will they be able to activate the regenerative braking and the new signalling system?

This is an excellent idea. It's extremely frustrating to be stood on the crowded platforms at Earls Court and see an empty Olympia train go past.

Wouldn't it be nice if the doors suddenly sprouted serated edges when they started to close....

It was a funding condition stipulated by the DfT, to avoid abstraction of Southern revenues. I don't really understand the part in italics. Can you explain? It means that the DfT were worried that if SHS were not in Z1 then there would be a large number of pax who'd switch from Southern to LOROL. This would cause a loss (or "abstraction") of revenue for Southern because travelcards and PAYG revenue are allocated based on the travel patterns of passengers. A loss of revenue for Southern would in turn mean that the DfT would have to compensate Southern or reduce the price of the franchise, resulting in less income for them.

what metros are converting to tripcocks? I was being sarcastic.

Farewell proper signalling... Agreed, why are LU upgrading the signalling when every other metro in the world is rushing to convert to tripcocks?

Much as I love the 2009 stock, scimpring on the costs for the seats was a poor decision. After barely a year in full service, the seats on the first 09s to be introduced are already looking dirty and worn. Can't be long until they need replacing.

No chance of re-aligning the Picc in South Ken - the reason it's so twisty there is because it has to avoid all the vaults...

Hopefully the lack of change on the Northern Line platforms is just the videographers being lazy. I'm sure they'll update the signage to conform to the modern LU signage. And I can't believe they'll keep the horrible inch-thick grouting - suspect it will be replaced with white tiles, with the Paolozzi mosaics in situ.

Interesting, how come this does not seem to occur on the Jubilee line for instance? Because the Jubilee line doesn't stop at Oxford Circus or Victoria? :-p

Additionally, the end-to-end demand on the Met is higher than on other lines. No one is taking the district all the way from Ealing to Upminster, but there are plenty of Amersham-City trips.

Once again may I point out that LU is a critical transport resource for the UK economy, not a life-size train set for enthusiasts. It exists for the benefit of those going to and from work Mon-Fri, not for enthusiasts travelling around on Sunday afternoons complaining because their seat isn't perpendicular to the window. If the S stock makes it easier, quicker and more comfortable for Met line commuters to get to work, it is better. End of.

The S8s are fantastic - I can't wait until all the SSLs are using them. I often wonder just how long the A-stock loving refuseniks think their beloved trains can carry on - 75 years? 150? At some point, they've got to go. May as well be now whilst there's still budget for improving the tube, because it looks like there won't be anymore for a long, long time...
