On the westbound platform between 1025-1030 this morning, the describer showed an Olympia service as Not in Service, then the following service as Ealing Broadway via Victoria despite being a H&C service.

I was at Whitechapel earlier and at 1028, a S7 stock service went to Olympia which came up as Not in Service on the CIS. It did confuse some passengers who thought it was a H&C service.

I traveled off-peak on Wednesday and the enhanced 10tph service between NXG and Sydenham coped well, so well that the service from West Croydon was unusually quiet for a weekday.
However, I understand there was a signal fault at Sydenham today which closed the West Croydon and Crystal Palace services for a couple of hours in the evening peak. Apparently chaos at Canada Water.

So how is the ELL coping with the extra passengers thanks to the lack of the Southern services south of New Cross Gate and additional passengers at Peckham Rye and Queen's Road Peckham?
Luckily I'm off work for the next two weeks, so avoided the joy of standing on a 378 in the peaks.

On Southern metro, hardly ever, although I was recently checked at London Bridge on the footbridge by Southern RPI's. LO on the ELL is at least once every two to three months on board or at the gateline at my local station.

The ELL RPI's along with the TravelSafe officers are based at Surrey Quays I think?

The whole of the ELL has been out of service due to a power cut at New Cross Gate according to NRE.
Is it the NXG signal box which is out which has taken out the core's signals as Southern continue to operate south of NXG?

TfL and NR appear to have banged their heads together and finalised what is going on during the London Bridge works during the working week.
26-29th August.
Additional services:
4tph between Canada Water and Crystal Palace (diverted from New Cross) during the peaks, these will terminate at Platform 4 at ZCW. These shuttles are timetabled to take longer to arrive at Canada Water (20 mins from Forest Hill, instead of 11 for a through service). 2tph between Dalston Junction and Crystal Palace off-peak. No service at all on the New Cross branch, RRB's between New Cross and Canada Water.
This means 12tph will operate between New Cross Gate and Sydenham and 10tph off-peak with a reduction of service in the core north of Canada Water during the peaks and a loss of 2tph in the core off-peak.

Favourites:
Uxbridge - The ticket hall is like going back in time. Also look out for the 1930s penny scales on the platforms.
Cockfosters. Again, great 1930s architecture.
Southgate. Love the escalators. You can see why they're used for period dramas.
Canary Wharf. A well designed and timeless design and the right size for such a busy station.
Least:
Bank/Mounment - A maze of corridors which gets easily crowded during the peaks.
Forest Hill - The original station was demolished due to WWII bombing and replaced by a 1970s concrete monstrosity. For such a busy station on the LO network, the building is inadequate.
Whitechapel - A building site, which I know will improve the station access by 2019, however the interchange between the District/H&C to the southbound Overground is far from good.

I think we'll see two maps as well. One for the ex Silverlink metro/ELL and the other one for the West Anglia services + Romford to Upminster.

The change seems to be more about brand consistency than what works. The Phil Sayer VO was clear and concise where as the Hignett ones you can hear the gaps.

Emma Clarke has replaced Phil Sayer and the unidentified female VO at stations between New Cross Gate and West Croydon/Crystal Palace.
However, the volume at Forest Hill is so low that it's hard to listen to the announcements.
EDIT: This appears to be a gradual introduction as only heard at NXG and Forest Hill.

Recently I was on an Aldgate service from Uxbridge, as we arrived at Harrow OTH, passengers were coming off the Baker Street train on the opposite platform to board our service. When I got off at Finchley Road to change for the Jubilee, The Baker Street service arrived 3 mins later.

If I've read the document correctly, there's no mention of Abbey Wood transferring from Southeastern. The paper says 24 existing stations will transfer to Crossrail. 4 will not and will remain with their existing TOCs. Having worked through the Crossrail Map it is clear that Abbey Wood is part of the 24 and will transfer to Crossrail who will be the Station Facility Owner (SFO). Some of the brand new stations will be run by LU and others will be run by the Crossrail TOC. Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't see where it mentioned that Abbey Wood would be moving from Southeastern, although I could see the Crossrail concessionaire operating the likes of Woolwich and Canary Wharf in the core.

These have to be the worst of any terminating station I've used.
No clear information on which train would leave first, so walked onto an Aldgate service thinking it'd be the first (the DOI claimed it was a Piccadilly service!) while the Baker St train left first.

With no ELL service whatsoever (I thought a NXG to West Croydon shuttle would operate today?) I noticed four units, two on Platform 3 and two on 5.
Is this a common occurrence during engineering works when LO can't operate on the southern branches?

Real Train Times, which has the working timetable data has it down as a shuttle service to Canada Water which terminate at Platform 4.
During the 0800 - 0900 hour on Tuesday 26th August, trains leave CP at x07, x22, x37 and x52. However the 0852 is extended to Dalston Junction. These services are in addition to the regular 4tph to Highbury and Islington.
The return shuttles apparently start from P4 and leave in the 0800-0900 hour at x01, x16, x31, x46 with the last morning peak shuttle at 0931.

It's possible for trains to crossover to the southbound platform, which if it departs at the same time as the New Cross service is a five minute gap between the previous CP service and this one. This keeps the northbound platform open for through services.
I'm sure one of our LOROL drivers on here will keep us informed when accurate information comes through.

I received an email from TfL yesterday confirming a shuttle service during weekday peaks between Canada Water and Crystal Palace.

|
Post by bicbasher on Jun 2, 2014 16:31:19 GMT
The bus service also makes sense as it'll take the pressure from Route 225 which follows the ELL between New Cross and Canada Water.
As Redbond confirms that the diversion to CP is only during the peaks, it appears they believe the normal 8tph service during off-peak and weekends is enough.

Due to the closure of the terminating platforms at London Bridge, LO services to New Cross are diverted to Crystal Palace to maintain the 12tph service on the Sydenham line lost from the lack of Southern services on weekdays.
Rail Replacement buses will operate between Canada Water and New Cross with a normal service at weekends.

Bicbasher you are correct, it was proactive measure for the strike, however for some reason there is a fault which means they can not remove it. A lot of the screens are now displaying "see front of train for destination". I noticed that on the southbound platform at Surrey Quays, where trains are operating normally. You can't win! There was also a fault on Tuesday during the evening peak where it displayed the Crystal Palace service before the West Croydon at Whitechapel.
