The whole of the ELL has been out of service due to a power cut at New Cross Gate according to NRE.
Is it the NXG signal box which is out which has taken out the core's signals as Southern continue to operate south of NXG?

I wasn't in work yesterday, but NR Signallers and ELL Control are based at NXG OBC, which will have an effect on the operation.

It was a power outage which resulted in the loss of all communication systems in the signal box and control.

It was a power outage which resulted in the loss of all communication systems in the signal box and control. That's pretty serious. I imagine there will a thorough investigation into that failure. I'm surprised there wasn't some sort of back up supply or, if there is, why it seemingly failed. I guess people trying to travel on Friday evening had a horrible time of it. TPTB must be hoping there's no repeat during the upcoming London Bridge works with the much increased reliance on the ELL.

I suspect the ongoing works to upgrade the line for the introduction of 5-car operation may be a probable cause but as you say a thorough investigation will be carried out next week by senior managers to ensure a repeat does not happen.
