This morning a big sign at Rotherhithe saying Jubilee line had severe delays - much better! At Forest Hill, they had "Jubilee Line - Severe Delays" on the whiteboard this morning, however the line was back to normal by 0850 and the information didn't get passed on to the person on the gateline to change the status.

A random decision to keep Peckham Rye, Queens Road Peckham and Denmark Hill with the current franchisees when Southern lost Norwood Junction and West Croydon to LO despite running more services than them!

It'll be interesting to see what Southern do branding wise to incorporate the LO at their managed stations, will we see a roundel next to the Southern logo at Queens Road Peckham and Peckham Rye, or keep things as they are?
Incidentally Queens Road is also getting a second piazza entrance. PR has had refurbishment work to the waiting room and toilets on the platforms.
The two unstaffed stations will benefit the most from being in LO hands.

According to a local forum I frequent, the local Southern manager for the Metro east area has posted that he's only losing 2 of his 4 stations on the extension.
To no real surprise Southern is losing Wandsworth Road and Clapham High Street to LO, while Peckham Rye and Queens Road Peckham stay with Southern.
I've enquired about Denmark Hill which is currently with Southeastern.

There was no annoucements on my ELL train this morning, although the LUL employee on the northbound Overground platform at Canada Water made tannoy announcements about the Jubilee Line being closed which led to the passengers going back on the train.
However in the past the driver has made an announcement at Surrey Quays.

I'm sure on the departure board plasma at Canada Water, it says "East London Line"

It's all part of TfL's grand plan to get the remaining regular passengers to use Oyster PAYG which caps at the same price as a travelcard, although Oyster is not as flexible as a paper travelcard of course if you want to stay on the system all day!

As I live on the southern extension of the ELL, I've found it useful in saving money on PAYG journeys to TfL stations (using Canada Water/Whitechapel/Shadwell) where as if I use a NR service to London Bridge then change, it's an extra £1.10 (maybe more since the fare rises?) on my journey. However, the late evening services are less frequent and as the final train to Forest Hill leaves Canada Water at 2356, Southern services from London Bridge are still the only viable option for late night journeys. Not crowded? I'm always amazed driving on the ELL how packed it is early mornings from West Croydon to Canada Water. The amount of people streaming off it down onto the Jubilee still amazes me. I used to wait for a Crystal Palace service to Dalston to board to beat the crowds, but since December they're also packed!

I think this is the first time the core ELL section has been closed for engineering works since it opened?

I thought the plan was for NXG to take over the signalling of the southern section of the ELL from East Croydon?

New benches and more roundel platform signs at Forest Hill spotted today, along with platform direction signs at the gateline at the ticket office with northbound trains going to Highbury and Islington.
New Cross Gate seems to be nearly done on platforms 3-4 and 5 for roundel signs. 3-4 also have LO branded platform numbers at one end with Southern ones at the far end.

Robert, Derek Martin cant act. Bit parts playing thugs in the Sweeney [mainly physical stuff] and playing a cabbie in Eastenders who most of the time was filmed eating. What else has he done of any note. If I recall, he also played a thug in an episode of Minder too.

Great news once it opens, I look forward to being able to use FCC from H&I instead of Moorgate.

Neither London Overground nor its predecessor Silverlink Metro have ever operated any late trains for New Year. It seems National Rail assume most revelers come from south of the river as most late services go south. And because of that, those of us who live on the ELL south of the river have no additional late night services.

I would hate to see the c2c franchise taken over by LO. National Express have maintained a brilliant service for the franchise and as someone else mentioned, they would not like to relinquish it. On the subject of the Wimbledon loop with FCC - the provision of services is quite bad, and I use it occassionally, so if it were to be transferred to someone else, I would like that Indeed, the Wimbledon loop would be the first line I'd consider to go into TfL hands. Also how about Southern's metro services? I wouild also suggest Southeastern's as well, however I doubt Govia would want to give up those lucrative lines.

Also, Penge West and Anerley have also have roundels, which leaves New Cross Gate to Honor Oak Park, plus Crystal Palace, Norwood Junction and West Croydon left to convert.

I prefer the JLE stations, in particular Canary Wharf and North Greenwich. Bermondsey's platforms don't really do it for me, nor Southwark.
The station signs at the original stations are starting to look dated, but otherwise I'm in agreement.

Unless the timetable change brought up some dramatic changes, it's always 2tph to the branches on Sunday mornings until around lunchtime?

Sydenham is the first ELL station south of Surrey Quays to get full Overground branding with roundel signs.
No change to the other stations south of New Cross Gate.

This would also be wrong then? Most if not all the CP's have been cancelled again today, although Southern are going to Crystal Palace as part of their London Bridge loop service they're operating today. Spoke to my Mum who went to West Croydon who said the platform arrangements have been different today with the 1722 departing from Platform 1 instead of 2 and her inbound train on 2 instead of 4.

Has Bethnal Green kept the dated signs or has it also had a refurb? (I haven't been east of Bank on the Central for a while) To answer my own question, I went through Bethnal Green today and the platforms have a rather nice retro refurb. This is what Holland Park should get also.

At least BBC London 94.9 are being more specific today by saying it's closed between NXG and West Croydon/Crystal Palace. Southern are providing a shuttle service every 30 mins from London Bridge to East Croydon which is serving those ELL stations south of New Cross Gate. That's because that is the only section of the service not running It's a shuttle between Dalston Junction and NX/NXG, TfL says - but you can potentially run a near full service on that anyway! However BBC London and LBC yesterday claimed the whole line was closed when it was open from NX to Dalston during the AM peak. It may be that LOROL don't want to risk getting one of their 378's broken down on the line putting the Southern services at risk.
