TfL have released some details of the interior spec' in this tweet: Glad to see the front seats are remaining. I would hope they lower the windows, or raise the seats. I can't see a seated mini-driver being able to see in front with those high windows.

Quite likely - by 1949 the R stock was beginning to appear, but most SSR trains were still pre-war and had thus been built for two classes, as First was not abolished until 1940. Those seats must have been a lot nicer (and fancier) than modern declassified first class!

Bit odd that they didn't at least make a press release for the anniversary, seeing as it's in the top 11(12) most used Tube lines.. I did find this on TfL's website. Maybe they'll make one for the 50 th anniversary, see you in 2029![/sup]

Perhaps it's something to do with the sound waves? Maybe they were of a (fairly) low frequency which is harder to be heard by the human ear but makes the microphone oscillate a lot and perhaps the microphone could have amplified the sound somehow?
(Then again I could be wrong!)

plus the door closing needs slowing down at the end it was a bit quick I agree - it sounds like it's being slammed! Something that interests me is the "Do not open this window" sticker. Why is that?

Eh? Excuse me being a bit thick but what precisely opens on 10/12/19 and what reopens 10 days later? It's not entirely impossible to close and reopen a line in a short space of time - the Jubilee line closed for 5 days to allow the addition of the extra car. Granted, the amount of work needed was alleviated from the fact that the extension stations had been built with 7-car in mind and the older platforms were long from the outset but my point still stands. It is possible to close and then re-open a line in 10 days. The only (theoretical) difference is that the Jubilee didn't have it's opening, closing and subsequent re-opening in such a small amount of time.

Oh and the office space rationalisation has also happened as most people no longer have their own desk and have to work remotely or battle to find shared desk space. This reminds me of my Work Experience last year where I spent a week at Endeavour Square. The whole building is open-plan. On my first day, the lady from facilities stressed that ES had 'no such thing as assigned desks' and that anyone could sit wherever they wanted, whenever they wanted, as long as somebody wasn't logged on already. Due to this, each employee had separate lockers which could be locked/unlocked with their ID card. I never saw any 'battles' as such, in fact the building was fairly empty! If I'm honest I quite liked the building, very futuristic and modern. The views didn't leave much to be desired either. Something I really liked was the original D Stock moquette they used in the cafe on the top floor, although I'm beginning to feel that this is starting to be a bit overused... (if mods feel that I've gone into too much detail feel free to edit)

If passengers were to use any free space on the train instead of trying to save 20 seconds at their destination walking along the platform, delays on the network would reduce drastically. TfL could run a PR campaign to encourage this but we all know how effective the shouts of "move right down the platform/the car" are…

... Access to the line was via St Mary's junction (now removed), between Aldgate East and Whitechapel on the District Line. The last thing I heard of the curve was that a 'temporary wall' had been placed in front of it on the District side. Is the track still there are or has it been lifted?

Is the DVA system linked to the dot matrix, or is it run separately? I would love to see the confused look on people's faces when they hear "This is a Central line train to Waterloo" or, even better "...to Ongar/North Weald". Why would LU decide to include those destinations on the dot matrix? Could it be that they were anticipating a sudden surge in passenger numbers to make an increase in supply from Epping to Ongar economically viable?

Additionally, is there a requirement for a hustle alarm when the doors open (like on most modern stock). Even those trains on the national railnetwork have been retro fitted with door opening alarms e.g. class 313s in the southern region I hate those on the SE Networkers.. I'm just sitting there minding my own business, then BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP. Honestly, could they not have chosen a less annoying sound? I don't know if the ones on the 1995/6 Stock are compliant but I like them because you can hear them and you recognise them, but they don't intrude into my ears as much. I would even prefer to have the 1992 Stock sound for the doors. I understand that the noise is important for those who may have a condition which doesn't allow them to recognise the doors as unlocked as easily as others, but surely there are more sound choices available?

I found some .wav files deep on my school drive a few weeks ago. Why it's on there, I have no idea! I'll upload them to Google Drive, and I'll link them here when that's done. I've had a quick listen to the files and it seems that it has all the ANITA destinations, Michael Meech announcements and also Anita's station announcements for Stratford, Canning Town, West Ham and North Greenwich. I think it may be from a game I downloaded, I'll have a quick Google search. EDIT: The files have uploaded: here. Terminus announcements: 1-15.wav (+55.wav) Station announcements: 40-43.wav (All Change Please Announcement at 44.wav) Michael Meech announcements: 45-54.wav I've found the game! It's a map for openBVE the version I played was here It seems since then that they've released a new update, here. I remember it being a fairly good map, with lots of detail put into it so I do recommend a play, if you can.

If we know the approx time it can be looked at on Trackernet replayer I know this question is off-topic but how far back can the Trackernet replayer go?

Saw a tweet just now and, as previously mentioned, the final 378 to be modified for the GOBLIN - 378209 - has now been entered into service. The image below was embedded with the tweet. I assume it's the aforementioned train but I can't quite see. As whistlekiller2000 said... They've had it easy for far too long. A good dose of detective work will sharpen them all up........

This is a good proposal but, if the speed of various rail infrastructure projects are anything to go by, I wouldn't be surprised if we rely on mobiles alone to pay for our travel by the time it's been properly debated and implemented. In my travels, I'm seeing more and more people use their phones to pay on rail and buses instead of their Oyster or contactless card. Maybe by the time this is introduced onto the railway, we won't even need phones - just a simple chip in our heads!

Drayton Park...stabled in the shed. I'm assuming this used to be where the big patch of empty space is looking out from Platform 2, right?

What are the costs to updating PA systems on platforms, and do they outweigh the benefits? I would understand TfL wanting to replace the PA on lines where there are significant changes, such as an extension. Are there any new legal requirements surrounding the platform PA which the old system did not meet?

I'm not the one actually developing it. I just thought it was worth bringing to people's attention. Ah. My bad. Nevertheless, I wish good luck to the developer!

(assuming we actually want to allow passengers to get on and off) Why don't we just stuff them in a train and make them go from one end of the line to the other. Sure, it may not be where they want to go but they're theoretically still being transported somewhere.

These ticket machine maps are dated Dec 2018 but have zones which are clearly color coded in the style of the older maps. I've always wondered why that is. I quite like the coloured zones and they distinguish the zones a bit more clearly IMO.

My view is that the Tube map can, and should have, art on it. It's certainly a guaranteed way to make sure that your creation is seen by millions of people everyday.
