Thanks for the replies. I read the post by Alight in which he writes: 'Termination message now places the via in brackets, which is read before the terminus (this results in the use of the passive "terminating at", which isn't ideal)'. I sort of understand why they changed 'mainline' to National Rail, but I don't understand why they had to change the termination message as well. I feel that it takes a lot longer to announce and that Celia's voice sounds strained, in the same way that I feel that Parnell sounds like she has gotten bored of announcing on the S Stock when she says Uxbridge.
Also, countryman mentioned that Embankment northbound is the only platform on the whole of the network to retain the original 'Mind the Gap' message, but in a video by spsmiler it also has a 'Stand Clear of the Doors, please' announcement as well. When LU revived this announcement at the request of his wife, could they not retrieve the 'SCotD' announcement, or where the station dwell time so varied that it would usually play too early or too late?

Hello. I understand that the Northern line's announcements were refreshed quite a bit of time ago, but as I was going into Embankment, I realised that the announcements for the interchange were considerably slower but when announcing the Riverboat and 'Please MtG...' the pace went back to normal. Is there any reason for slowing things down. Also, was there a reason to refresh the announcements, because IMO 'mainline' is still correct today, 'Circle and Hammersmith' is easy enough to understand and the 'National Rail' sounds like it has been recycled from the Jubilee line, did T fL really have to replace it? PLS. The sole reason I'm asking this question is because I always thought the 'mainline' and 'Circle and Hammersmith' announcements made the lane unique, just as the fact that the Jubilee was the only line to have a 3 people on the DVA, and also the fact that it was the only line to have a male announcer, and I'm slightly disappointed to see these unique features go.

As Gallions Reach and Elverson Road (and previously Pudding Mill Lane) are one stop from the terminus, the situation does not occur. But is there any reason why? Seems a bit weird to keep the stations before the terminus in, and the others out.

Another one is two stations getting merged on the approach to Deptford Bridge - "Deptford Bridge at Elverson Road" and "Deptford Bridge at Greenwich". There is a difference: On approach to Elverson Road the announcement is played, whereas towards Greenwich it isn't.

Hello. Does anybody know why Charing Cross Jubilee was closed when the JLE opened, after being open for only 20 years? Would it have put too much strain on the northbound Green Park onwards?

Will the new rolling stock have a proper recorded DVA, or will it keep the TTS the current stock have?

Is there any way to get a paper copy of the Tube timetable?

Hello again, sorry for the 'revival' of this thread, but I went to Charing Cross the other day, and realised that the clocks there weren't in sync. I had assumed from @jtuthil that they would all always show the same time.

I recently noticed that on the bus, there is another woman announcing on the iBus alongside Emma. She announces the 'this bus terminates here' announcements. Can anyone shed some light on who she could be?

Thanks for all the quick replies There was an instruction from the board to raise the track level in the stations so that level access/egress would happen. Fortunately the instruction was ignored and Tube stock didn't become permanent. Am I right to assume, then, that you had to step up from the train to get onto the platform, like the Central line in certain places?

In the BR days with the Class 482 would the drivers receive LU training to drive the stock, or was it by BR? Also, when it was transferred to LU, did the current drivers move to LU or did they go onto another part of the rail network?

Thanks for the replies. I never thought that the numbers could be made of flaps, probably because I only saw them from afar.

I've been hearing that old Tube stock have previously run on the old East London line, but I cannot find for the life of me when and why it was. I'm hoping that someone on the forum cold tell me?

...is it the only place the NSE flashes still are? (are they still at Waterloo W&C platforms?)... I know it's been about 3 months since this was posted, but apparently they are still there behind the yellow line at either Bank or Waterloo, haven't checked though.

Not to mention the Northern line received useful door indicators in place of the defunct buttons Were they ever used? If so, why did this go out of fashion. And if not, why did LT (presumably) ask for them?

This may be the wrong place to post this thread, but does anyone knows how the NSE clocks were made, and why they have a click-clack noise?

These wires are still present and working in the Thames Tunnel (L O ) Are they actively used on Overground, or is it just a remnant from the LU days?

There is at least one "S7+1". This is an S7 unit with an extra car inserted, as it's an S7 not an S8 it lacks the transverse seating. What was the reason of not using a full S8 train set, and instead using an S7+8? Was it that they miscalculated the amount of S8 units that would be needed, or was it intentional from the start?

On a similar, yet almost entirely different thing...in the same way that trains on the Central line often show Ongar or Waterloo when stabling. Did the Central ever go to Waterloo or is it just a nod to '92s on the W&C?

Hello, being new to this forum I don't know if this is the right place to post this. But...
Being a regular Southern and Southeastern commuter to get to school, I am usually late to get there because of the current problems with the trade unions.
I overheard my friend's father saying that when the mainline network was nationalised, there were less delays, more trains and better customer service which led me to think: if the railways were renationalised into British Rail and its sectors, i.e. Network SouthEast would the quality be better, or is it just wishful thinking?

The events on Wednesday were horrible, but luckily, as the PM said, we have an extremely good Police force who worked under enormous pressure, and if it wasn't for them the situation would have been worse.
Rest in peace, the 5 people who died.
