Surely the simple thing to do would be to arrange acceptance on all operators and routes in affected areas? Yes it would be simple, if money/capacity wasn't a consideration.

I'd suggest it's linked to the external orange lights which illuminate when doors are not fully closed, the internal light could assist staff in locating a dodgy door in fault conditions.

The buffer stop that used to cap platform 2 is now at the reception road for Uxbridge Sidings. I would have thought that might make things difficult getting into or out of the depot.

AIUI, Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) are often bespoke designs to match the anticipated ground conditions, so finding the right TBM for the job can be difficult if you're looking to buy "pre-owned". There's also the factor to consider that on some occasions any re-sale/scrap value may be less than the cost of extracting the TBM from the end of it's dig; the British TBMs that dug the Chunnel remain beneath the waves (and indeed the rails) of the English Channel where they are currently providing a rather good electrical earth.

At an Acton Depot open day a while back I remember being shown monitoring equipment mounted on conventional passenger stock.

Are these alphabetically consecutive Overground stations? Because in that case A is Chingford and the 5th in the set will be Crouch Hill. Did you get Chingford from the picture or simply other people's guesses?

Please note, as I am about to leave the country all refunds will be paid in either Euro, Danish Krone or Swedish Krone depending on where I am at the time. Failing that Colin D may be able to provide a refund in Canadian Dollars.

But.... and its a big but most of the sign is actually blank! Shenfield station is near the top of the sign, there is enough space below Liverpool Street to add the rest of the route to Reading! You need to scroll down to near the bottom of the 'hydeparknow' webpage and see the photo of the map next to a Class 315 train. Below I am hotlinking directly to that image, but (with copyright in mind) I am also adding a clickable link in case our mods would prefer that the image was not directly visible here. <<image>> hydeparknow.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_0635.jpgThat image somehow looks like it has had the signage edited in, just look at the top of the sign! Admin comment: Linking to an original image and crediting it is fine. Rehosting it without credit would not be.

Asking on behalf of a friend: did the Bo'Bo' locos ever pull these? No, because the carriages are entirely fictional. Which means you can do what you want with them on your layout!

When will 9 car be possible at Liverpool Street High Level? AIUI the extensions will reduce the number of available platforms, this lack of capacity is not problematic because the trains currently using the platform that is to close can be diverted into the Crossrail core. Oh.

This film also appears to answer the question of where they were stored, given the the Guard simply chucks it into the platform invert.

On a more general point, is there any chance you can add gaps between your paragraphs so that your posts are easier to read? Don't worry Colin (and other members who have taken the time to PM the admin team today), the posting ability of this member is currently being reviewed.. The thread will remain open for those who wish to engage in reasonable debate, personally I'm fascinated about this "lightning" used in the interiors.

After several contacts with great Ormond street hospital the coach 3634 is no more it has been broken up as there were no planes for it in the hospital refurbishment. Planes and trains don't really mix.

And correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the boards (and the information on them) Network Rail's rather than SWR's? I think it's a bit of a bodge, the data comes from NR but the boards (as part of the station infrastructure) are managed by SWR.

As the new Piccadilly line trains will be a variant of their existing "Inspiro" product line, is it likely that at least the first batch of these trains will actually be built on the existing production facility in Germany and then just shipped over either as complete trains or as a heap of parts for local bolting together? The Siemens metro product line is called Inspiro - it's marketing speak. Don't confuse that with the design of the train. Tube trains have little or nothing on common with other metro trains and the new Piccadilly trains will be no exception. Surely it's about the 'platform'? ADtranz had the 'star' platform which was used successfully in varying forms in the UK as the Turbostar, Electrostar and Capitalstar; all different trains but the same core technologies. Whilst the new Piccadilly Line trains will be a bespoke product, as a part of the 'Inspiro' product line I'm sure we can expect some similarities with other products in the family.
