It is certainly possible to get a Travelcard with 18+ discount online, I did it just yesterday. Strange, when I try adding a travelcard it just gives the standard price. Yea when I use Oyster Online I get the same problem as it gives me the full adult price.
However if you buy it via the Oyster Photocard website it gives the correct 18+ price.

I remember the fun I had in late September trying to get an odd-period 18+ discounted Travelcard AND avoiding an LUL ticket office in the process (station supervisor at Hounslow East sold me one in July with no issues). Unfortunately it is not possible to get any Travelcard with the 18+ discount online. It is certainly possible to get a Travelcard with 18+ discount online, I did it just yesterday.

I agree the 2/3 thing is awful, and could make it more confusing for some as other boundary stations (including other 2/3s such as Cutty Sark etc) now look different

Agreed I think the Vic has the best DVA of them all, flows very nicely. The S Stock is voiced by the same woman but sounds slightly different, but its still good.
I cant get my head around how the Jubilee announcements could be edited so badly. Any new additions are spliced sooo badly that the tone is completely different, and it sounds as if the voice is cut off at the end.

indeed they're not exactly close to each other but the distance between Watford Junction and Watford High Street is about the same as the distance to Watford, yet on the map they look wildly different.

Whilst I get that the tube map isn't supposed to be geographically accurate, would it not be possible to make some small changes to correct some glaring errors in terms of distance between stations e.g. Watford and Watford Junction brought closer together, as they are currently a million miles apart. Something like this homepage.ntlworld.com/clive.billson/1974.html (at least the Watford bit)

Does anyone know if there are any plans to update the DVA on either the 95 or 96TS. The way I see it both of them have problems:
95TS: The announcements are actually very clear and flow nicely, and the voice is nice, but it still refers to National Rail as "Main line intercity and Suburban rail services" and also has no mention of the Overground.
96TS: Doesn't flow very well, as some of the newer announcements haven't been properly spliced in. Some of the worst examples are at West Hampstead "Change for National Rail services..(awkward pause).... and Landon Overgraaund (sic)", and at North Greenwich where the O2 announcement sounds awfully out of place e.g. "Change for the Emirates Air Line (completely different tone) AND THE O2"
Also with regards to the visual display the 95 still shows "Charing +"
Edit: Of course there are just my personal views as a lowly punter

It would probably be quicker to, as Chris lists, go down the number route. One imagines something like numbered orange bullets on the front of trains a la New York Subway They could put the orange bullets where the "5 Car Train" stickers are now.
But this would be a problem as well as some trains are used on more than one route e.g. 378 2xx can be used on WLL, NLL, ELL, SLL and the Watford DC

Is there any reason why the trains for Great Northern do not have the same front as Thameslink Class 700's and instead has a door at the front similar the Class 378s? I believe the Great Northern trains operate in tunnels with limited clearance meaning evacuation via side doors would be impossible/hard, so they need a front emergency exit.

Fair enough I didn't realise they served an actual purpose.

I think you're right - the "hamster cheeks" at buffer level are the same size (which is probably a good idea if they ever need to couple up in an emergency) but there is a bigger curve to the outer edges of the windscreens on the Moorgate units so the pillars are narrower at the top - presumably to allow for a reasonably-sized windscreen either side of the emergency door. It is that which makes it look narrower in the three-quarter view. Does anyone else find the "hamster cheeks" a horrific design feature, or is it just me? I find it one of the worst designs I have seen, which is a shame given the rest of the Class 700's is actually quite nice.

Have London Overground forgotten about the Lea Valley lines and the Romford - Upminster branch...? They probably think the Lea Valley lines are run by diesel trains, cuz they're so "old"

There to help spread the load down the longer train when there was a mix of 4 and 5 cars. Not necessary when all trains on the line are 5 car. Hmm, do you think they actually worked? I don't think many/any people would actually use the 5 car thing as a reminder to move further down.
I personally thought the 5 car sticker was just advertising

This comes across as rather a grumpy statement I have to say! Surely it's a publicity thing more than anything, to highlight to the people of overcrowded services (whom often moan/complain of trains being too short), that TfL are re-investing income into providing more carriages. The more they see, the better things will appear. It's a perception thing! Once all services are 5-car, no doubt they'll removed, and you can smile again... I am grumpy today WP. Nevertheless, this is publicity in a captive market. They can highlight the extended trains with a simple poster at the station or on social media if they have to without needing to waste money doing it to the trains. Did they put "7 Car" notices on the front of Jubilee line trains when they were extended or "4 Car" notices on the front of 378/0s when they were extended? I may have missed it, in which case I apologize! There was this:

TFL must still be optimistic (though I use the term loosely) considering that Piccadilly line stock train still has the night tube decor on it. There are also signs such as "Bank Branch (No Night Tube service)"

About the new trains, or the "Modern Equivalent Vehicles" as I saw in a TFL paper, is there any guarantee that they would be made by Alstom, as they made the originals, or is it possible for a different manufacturer to get it.

Eventually when all 378's are 5 cars will the "5 Car Train" stickers be removed or not?

Any combination is possible with scale models: mine will be the S8.75 0√(2×(52÷6.5)). very good, although I must admit I did check to see whether you had the order of operations in the correct order.

I saw this this morning, seemed like a good idea but it wasn't very smooth. There were two station staff with megaphones telling people to stand on the left, and some people took this to mean stand on the left and walk on the right. Also the posters which they put up were very hard to see during the packed rush hour, so many people were confused.
Nevertheless I think it could work if done properly.

All true but I don't think these door pillars have anything to do with either the Special Trailers or the new 2005 builds as I found them on an old (not 2005) UNDM, and only on a single car.

Yes but that would be the 966xx or 967xx car, and neither of the cars in the pictures were special trailers.

I'm looking to repaint the yellow door step plates on the trailers cars but I'm unsure as to how to remove the body. I know the motor cars are screwed on but am I just supposed to pull the trailer cars off, and if so from where should I pull/unclip?

As I understand it, an S7+1 is an S7 with an M2 car borrowed from an S8. But when all fifty-eight S8s are in service, where is the extra M2 car for the permanent S7+1 unit (23327?) coming from? And is there a reason why there will be an odd-man-out on the Metropolitan, rather than building the extra unit to the same arrangement as the other S8s? I thought that S7+1's were formed of a normal S7 and an extra M2 from another S7, not an S8 Also I agree it's rather weird to have a Met line train different to all the others, why not just rebuild/build the unit as a normal S8 with S8 seating

Will the permanent S7+1 have S8 transverse seats? If it did, it wouldn't be an S7+1 but an S8 (by definition) Ah ok fair enough but isn't it a bit awkward to have one met line train permanently different to all the others?

Also so now there will be 192 S Stocks?

Why is it that all the Class 172 and 378's I see running around always run with the right "big" headlight and the left "small" headlight on. I find it looks a bit weird.
