The best way therefore to get people by the doors is to play the announcement about the next station when people need to start getting up - i.e. shortly before just before the station as Edwin is saying. This is already the case. The next station announcement is played just before the train enters the station as opposed to when it has just left the previous station (which is what the 1967 stock does). I have to say it is far more effective as you actually see people starting to prepare to get up and therefore provides evidence of them paying attention! This is also observed on the 1995 stock, which too plays the next station announcements just before the train enters the station.

Finally rode one of these today, don't often take the victoria line you see. Are there now more 09 trains than 67's? It looked that way. I missed one 67 going northbound from oxford circus and got on the second train which was 09. Coming back Southbound from Kings Cross I saw two 09's in a row going northbound and missed the first 09 going southbound to get a 67. So are there more 09's than 67's? Well overall the 09's were quite nice. I liked the ride, acceleration and shape of the train. It seemed to be pretty quiet as well. I didn't like the tiny windows, the door closing warnings or the way the DVA said stuff. It seemed to go over the top by really stretching out every syllable. The worst bit were those seats. It was like a thin bit of material glued onto the metal, awful. The doors open on the right side stuff was nice and the fact it didn't tell you of the next station 2 minutes before you arrived there. Although I missed the 67's sound, ticking, the doors shutting, the nice seats and the uneven acceleration.

There are about the same amount of 67TS and 09TS at the moment.

Is train 25 already in service?
Also, have trains 26 and 27 now been delivered to Northumberland Park?

Was delayed being delivered due to firstly the weather, then no people in depot to receive and marshall it, so not sure it is delivered yet.

So I got to travel on the 2009 stock for the first time yesterday.
The train feels more claustrophobic than the 1967 stock. I think it's due to the windows, they look smaller than the ones on the 67s.
The train also jerks to a halt and jerks when starting.
The seats aren't too bad. They look hard but they don't feel that bad.
Is it really necessary to tell us which side the door is opening? Maybe.

Is the delivery rate still strictly 2/month or more like 3/month? Or does it vary depending on circumstances?

Is it really necessary to tell us which side the door is opening? Maybe. It's good for unfamiliar people to get ready on the right side. Almost all trains in Germany and Japan seem to tell you which side you'll need to get off, and have done for some time. I suppose it would be too much to expect for Crossrail to take another leaf from the Munich S-Bahn (to name one) and have entry/exit platforms both sides of the train throughout the central city section.

On the other hand, when on the meet just before Christmas, and I was telling everyone which sides the doors open on the Picc, I felt like a right geek!
I suppose when you are used to it, it's easy.... I met a mate at SP a couple or three years ago, and just walking up and down, hitting the right lines and the right platforms at the right times, and he thought I was some sort of tube guru!
So to that end, I suppose the announcements could be useful, and may well drop dwell time, even if only slightly.

I used to regularly take my bike on the District Line (cycling to work, but going home after dark). Knowing I could prop my bike against a left hand door after West Ken and leave it there until Kew Gardens was very useful. I have also used the same principle between Southfields and Paddington (right hand door on that route of course).
But there's always some busybody who remonstrates with me and asks "what if someone wants to get off on that side?" "They'd need a ladder" says I.

Nothing compares to Chris W's knowledge of platform-side on the Circle Line meet (Christmas 2009).

Has T26 entered service yet? Saw T26 for the first time in passenger service at Walthamstow today. Don't know how long it's been out.

Whilst out and about yesterday, I noticed that the duration of the door closing chimes have been shortened on some of the 2009 stock. Is this an attempt to deter people from running into closing doors?

Thanks - I've noticed the shorter chimes for a few weeks now, and I think only a few trains still have the longer ones.
In paragraph 7.7 of the Explanatory Memorandum, it says that the exemption from the 3-second requirement has been granted until 31 December 2013 "to allow LUL to properly test the 3 second warning in passenger use and revert to a 1.75 second warning if the longer warning proves unworkable".
Since the chimes are being shortened from the original longer ones, does it mean then that the 3-second warning has been found to be "unworkable"?
*EDIT: Reading through the Explanatory Memorandum, it's interesting how, in their application, LUL proposed using "TFT" colour flat-screen displays as opposed to dot matrix displays for the interiors. There are even some samples of proposed screen layouts which, if implemented, would have been very good... I wonder why they reverted back to dot matrix? Cost?

Is this an attempt to deter people from running into closing doors? Mostly, yes - 3s allows you to get from the corridors and accross the platform and into the doors. 1.75s you have to move pretty quickly. The purpose of the alarm is to warn passengers to stand clear, not to say, "Get on quickly, they're going to shut". I hope the 1.75s is retained after all 67TS has gone. If they are forced to go to 3s, it will add almost half a minute to the running time! Personally, I think the alarm should be removed. The usual announcements are enough.

Yep. Though added revenue from selling advertising rights for the fleet life may not have been factored in (probably hard to predict what the revenue from this might have been).

I was on t15 today and noticed the acceleration was slower than usual, does 09ts have settings for different acceleration speeds? Ie slow and fast?
